  • Expert course on Grand Prix Mode (40 Miles), 1st place finish, easy level car, manual transmission
    Expand the description for some driving tips!
    Supermodel Emulator supermodel3.com/
    The expert road course is intensely challenging in Grand Prix mode. The beginner course introduced the idea of having to take pit stops to keep your lap times fast. The advanced course introduced the idea of saving your tires so you can conquer tricky tight corners late in the race. Now, the expert course requires you to not only save your tires, but also your fuel.
    When the throttle is pressed, the fuel gauge ticks down at a steady rate, and when the throttle is released, the fuel gauge does not move. If you keep a close eye on the gauge, you can actually watch the fuel level decrease on the long straightaways here on the expert course. Additionally, in tight corners where I release the throttle such as the corkscrew, you can see the gauge does not move at all.
    Because the course is so long, you will pass by pit lane much less frequently than on any of the other tracks; you have twice as many opportunities to pit on the advanced course and four times as many on the beginner course than you do here on the expert course. As a result, the fuel gauge is now an enemy. Can you make it around one more lap before it runs empty or not?
    If you do not watch your fuel levels, you will be forced to bring the car in on the end of lap 5 or you will run out of gas. If you take your time and conserve fuel by letting the car coast into and through corners instead of braking, you can make that fuel last potentially to a pit stop on lap 6. It is a gamble to wait that long, but the fresh tires will let you be aggressive in the last part of the race without having to worry about running out of fuel or burning up the tires. Spent tires are especially bad on the expert course since they decrease your top speed and there are many long straightaways and high speed corners for you to clear.
    Do not let yourself get scared by the fuel gauge either. If you get scared because it is running low and pit sooner than lap 5, you will run into problems later when you either have to pit a second time or be forced to run out of fuel on the last lap. When the low fuel warning comes on the screen, it is probably time to pit the next time pit lane comes around. If the warning comes on immediately after the corkscrew, you should be able to drive past pit lane and make one more lap before having to stop for fuel.
    If you are feeling particularly dirty and want to increase your chances of winning at any cost, it is easy to force the computer drivers to crash. They will not be knocked entirely out of the race, but making the leader crash can help you significantly, especially if they have broken away from the rest of the pack.
    To do this effectively, try picking up some speed from drafting behind them and shunting them. If done just right, their car should wiggle side to side and release smoke. Remember from the tutorial to stay away from smoking cars! When they smoke like this, they release from their programmed driving line and can careen off the track and into walls. Places on this track with sharp geometry can help trap them and slow them down even more: try to make them crash into the jagged corners of the walls of the long and narrow front street straightaway.
    It is interesting to note that there is a bug when leaving the pits: the HUD warns you to shift to second gear, but the car is released from pit lane at 125 mph which corresponds to the very top of second gear. Instead, shift to third before leaving pit lane to avoid hitting the rev limiter.

      Check out the Easy car livery on the Battle On The Edge version. "Chums" brand cuddly bunny mascots all over. Literally going Hello Kitty-esque on the asphalt. Must have been the #1 reason people tried to get better at the game so they could handle the Normal car.

      All of the cars seem to use fuel at the same rate, but since powersliding causes tire wear the hard and normal cars tend to burn up tires faster than the easy car

      Thank you! The computer these were recorded on is nearly a decade out of date now, it used an AMD FX-9000 series processor and an Nvidia 970 GPU which are both long obsolete. Any modern computer should be easily able to run Supermodel, especially those with fast single core performance and a dedicated graphics card that supports OpenGL. Finally, be sure to run the most recent nightly beta build of Supermodel for the latest performance improvements instead of the major release version: www.supermodel3.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=1206
      Good luck out there!!

    • @onepunchdan4986
      @onepunchdan4986  Рік тому +3

      If you would like to also record gameplay, the graphics card becomes more important: faster graphics cards offer hardware video encoding which can take the recording encoding load off your processor so it can focus on running the emulation. Be sure to use a solid state hard drive to save the recording to (preferably an M.2 PCIe drive as they offer higher data rates), especially if recording at 4K resolutions!

    • @ThermalTurbo
      @ThermalTurbo 5 років тому +17

      The gas and tire meter? That’s displayed because he was playing on Grand Prix Mode. It’s a setting that’s changed in test mode/settings you can’t access in an arcade usually. They are using an emulator so they can change such settings.
      Grand Prix Mode isn’t usually selected in the arcade version (with the cabinet and steering wheel) but it’s there.

It is currently under active development; you may register for the Supermodel forums and download the newest and best nightly builds from this thread, enjoy! www.supermodel3.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1206

      This (model 3 in general really) was the most technically advanced video game ever made when it came out. It looks better than a lot of early 7th gen games. The problem was it was really expensive and I remember arcades charging a premium for this game.
