"You are infinitely valuable. I hope you know that a great price has been paid for you..." I wasn't expecting to hear that in a watch review, but that really hit me in the feels. Thank you Sanjay
I was skeptical about this one until I saw it in person. The design and execution of the entire watch-dial, case, caseback, crown, and bracelet are all excellent and instantly justify the price. I totally agree that it's near Grand Seiko and possibly equal given that GS has yet to attempt a bracelet this interesting or comfortable. I understand the complaints about it not having one of Seiko's higher-grade movements, but owning Grand Seiko and a higher-end Prospex with an 8L, I'm actually willing to sacrifice 3 or 4 seconds of deviation for a watch that doesn't have to go back to Japan for service. Your strap choices look great, but IMO the bracelet emphasizes and enhances the unique case design so well that I don't think I'd ever take it off.
I really think that is a beautiful watch. Its the perfect size for a 6.25" wrist and that case and bracelet finishing are really top notch. I'm not typically a Seiko/ GS person but this one is amazing. Shame it had to get reviewed, which in Sanjay's world is like walking the green mile 😢😢
Haha thanks for watching and for your support as always Nef! It's very similar to the Longines Spirit 37 in terms of dimensions so the comfort and feeling is spot on!
37mm is an underrated size. It seems value is everyones biggest question for this watch but i see it more as a guilty pleasure. Damn the value, its a beautiful watch
Great honest review. I agree that it looks really good on leather. I would even try it on a nice fabric strap because of its sturdy look for a dressier watch.
I love the appearance of the King Seiko, it has a beautiful design and finish. However, the 6R movements are used in Seiko Presage watches that are much less. Even the Presage Sharp Edge watches had an MSRP around $1000 USD but can be purchased for closer to $700. The price of the King Seiko puts it at the price level of Presage watches with the beautiful Porcelain dials. The King Seiko would be the one I'd consider as a pre-owned watch or if the selling price comes down more.
Thanks for the review! I want a watch with a brown dial and this is one of candidates that I am considering (there are not many). My wrist size is pretty similar to yours (6.25”) but flat. This watch should be fine. Another watch that I am considering is GS SBGW293.. I love the 44GS case and was fortunate enough to get a SBGW289, which I really love and is perfect in size. I am not sure about the shape of the rugs of this King Seiko. And its MSRP.
Really nice review and really nice introduction. I like them all: Grand Seiko, King Seiko and Presage. But... in my opinion, the nicer watches of the Presage line (and there are many) create a large price to value inefficiency for Grand Seikos and Kings Seikos.
Great review! I have been tempted by these KS. Great looking watches ......just waiting for a better movement. Very much like my sarx 055,057. Almost a GS ....just the 6r movement. Still a beautiful watch though! Love the sea of clouds. It is my only GS qtz.
Congrats on the Sea of Clouds! It's so great! P.S. there are versions of the King Seiko with better a movement (SJE083, SJE087)...they are just priced at an even higher bracket
Thanks. I will check out those other king Seiko. Steve at little treasure jewelers found the sea of clouds for me. He is great at helping me spend money.
Thank you Sanjay, for the review! I know you haven’t had the chance to have it side by side with your vintage 44KS, but is there any comparison/ comment worth to know? Thank you again.
Great review of the piece as always. I wish it had a 4L or 6L movement - something Seiko really should put in more of these higher level watches. I would consider it, but I am still planning my first Grand Seiko watch (likely the new quartz GMT) so I’m doing my best to fight all temptations.
Hey, Sanjay! Great review, thank you for nice content! I have a question if you don't mind. I do own a "sea of clouds" myself too and considering this particular KS. Could you please check if a KS bracelet by any means could be set on a SBGP017. I doubt it could but... might turn out to be a nice little conversion. Thanks.
I know that the movement part is something that will give some hesitation, personally I've learned to regulate watches and own a time grapher so I have confidence that I can dial things in if I need to. But should one resort to such measures at this price point? I'd have to say no. That said, I need to see this peice in person, I have a few other options including the longines Spirit 37mm that's in contention with the KS.
Hello Sanjay 😊, would you prefer this over GS 37mm quartz ? I really like the dial finishing of the GS, however looking at this particular King Seiko, the case shape and bracelet are pretty damn nice too!
That’s a really tough choice….I would pick the SBGX261 over the King Seiko. The GS is may not have the cool angular look, but the watch as a complete package feels wonderful to wear. That said, if you like the KS look, there is no beating it 🙂 What do you prefer?
@@engineer_wannabe I had the SBGV231 40mm titanium however quickly sold it because I dont feel right on my 17cm wrist (too big for dress watch), the zaratsu polishing makes me consider GS more of dress rather than sport everyday piece. My current pick is now the SBGX261 or King Seiko 37mm burgundy dial but its very tough decision to make haha
What watch would you honestly say is more eye catching and has more wrist presence. SEIKO PRESAGE SJE 073 limited edition or the KING SEIKO spb279. Those are the two watches I like the most, but I’ve never seen them, only on UA-cam or pictures and I got a feeling I’m going to be disappointed with SJE 073.
I own the SJE089. It is a beautiful watch. So comfortable on the wrist. I think it is the better watch because it has a more classic, timeless design. The other one is nice looking too. But It looks a little big for a dress watch.
For quite a while now I am in two minds about this piece and the no go is only about the 3hz movement and however I still think that a King Seiko should not be equipped with a 3hz movement this piece is almost making me pull my wallet, it is just too nice to let go... only Seiko can pull that off when every micro brand hits this piece out of the park spec wise!
Hey brother thanks for that video ! You are great ! Can i ask what kind of leather strap to look for and from where, i found one in Seiko Website but not sure if it's going to fit, can you explain how you get it right?
"You are infinitely valuable. I hope you know that a great price has been paid for you..." I reject this nonsense, but your presentation and review of this watch is okay.

Same here! Took me off guard!
It was nice to hear. I didn't know I needed that.

Beautiful timepiece Sanjay and perfect fit for your wrist. Thanks for the fine detailed review.
Thanks so much, my friend!

Awesome review and thanks for sharing … big love from Australia 😊
Hey, thanks for watching! Lots of love from Canada 😁
Really nice looking watch! And great job on the review, Sanjay!!
Such a Perfect piece

I got 44KS 2021 model for sale.If you are thinking to get one. It’s got 6L movement
Nice watch. Congrats for your purchase!
Dang Sanjay that is a stunning king 🤴 Seiko
It really is! Thank you my friend!

These are nice, great pick up on the bracelet. These are reasons why people subscribe, no one picks up these details.
You're far too kind! Thanks for the encouraging words Sam!

Your a kind man I love your review.
I like this a lot. I was about to buy the violet dialed version, but a sbgj261 became available.

Hello! May I ask the name of the Delugs strap you wear at 8:37? It fits perfect with SPB285 ! Thanks! You are a great reviewer!
Thank you Sanjay, for the review!

Thank you again.
Very nice looking watch!
It really is! Thanks Leya and congrats to you and your wife again! 🥳
@@engineer_wannabe Thank you! Son's sleeping face is so sweet! 😍

A 6L version is available but at a significant price premium 🙂 (SJE083, SJE087)
Stay strong and go for that GS! I'm sure it will be worth the wait 😀
Nice looking on your wrist Sanjay. 🖖

I tried on the red one last weekend at WatchTime. I'm tempted. But the price gives me pause.
I know what you mean, the price was a hurdle that I had to get over as well.
Thanks for watching, my friend!

King seiko for a King

spend so much while there are so many good looking seiko 5 models still available that offer so much more value for money

Do you have a King seiko? If so is it worth buying?
❤❤❤❤❤
I love it
I believe it is a bracelet-only watch.
Great shots on the straps…hard to find photos on straps! Gotta show off those sexy lugs!!!
Pretty expensive...pretty but expensive. Seiko could have at the very least provided this watch with a high beat movement...
I totally understand where you're coming from. Thanks for watching!
1:58 looks just as high end as any Grand Seiko 5x the price
it needs a better movement to justify the price
I feel like your watches feel regret if they get sold instead of you.
Like they cry because they wouldn't find a better owner.
rip
Haha 🤣
7:10 you're showing the watchface reading 4:20 at 7 minutes 10 seconds into the video. I need to pause, and I'll be back with you in a moment or two.
GS is the best….
No date, no lume, too small dia

How am i valuable. You haven't given any reference.
You don't make any sense. How am i infinitely valuable. We are not valuable unless we provide value. wake up
