9:30 right so my best guess based on the context of the glyphs being under the bill receptacle is that its currency denomination? RNT being the currency abbreviation with the e and the i being a numerical value? 9:44 pretty sure its the word Market
you know if you watch my three suns, raging bender and 30% iron chef all together it actually makes a pretty solid arc for bender. we first learn about bender’s dream of cooking and his love for elzar, then we see him get to meet elzar for the first time and even get a job at his restaurant, only to be degraded to toilet duties and to quit and join the mafia and then we see bender challenge elzar to a competition and beat him, even though he unintentionally cheated.
I'm guessing the 5 letter word in the video rental might have been someone unfamiliar with their fake language or like, while they were still workshopping it maybe. Based on the surrounding context of the scene, my guess is it's supposed to say "Return"
I maintain that this is the best Futurama episode and one of the best TV episodes of all time. Just pure art, as you've said, and very funny, on top of being a great sci-fi concept.
There is an entire book (now two shows) series called "The Three Body Problem" . . . . . . . . based on the interaction between humans and a species that lives in a three-body system. One of my favorites by a large margin.
4:59 I might be wrong, but maybe person responsible for soundeffects and person responsible for dialogue might have been differend people, and as such, whoever did side effects saw the doors being opened in that scene, and just added the sound. Alternatively, the script might have not have any dialogue for Saltzar there, but still noted the fact he opened the doors, and whoever added sounds just read that and did it
ive watched this twice now and i can never get over how much i enjoy this format. i would say i wish you could crank these out at a machine gun rate, but then you wouldnt have the time to REALLY break down these special tiny details like the whole triple sun thing. truly awesome stuff as always man!
Thanks so much! I've read your comment a couple times now and just realized I never replied. I'd rather produce quality over quantity, but both would sure be nice!
24:29 I've never thought about this line before but I would read it as meaning if Fry had thought ahead he would have looked at the name of who ordered the pizza before heading out, seen it was a complete joke and never even bothered delivering it. I'm not really sure why he only even reads out the name once he's already at the Cryogenic Facility, the note had the address he needed to visit written on there so you would think he needed to look at the note at least once. Maybe I'm just forgetting something, it's been awhile since I've re watched the show.
I have been so excited for this. I knew it was coming up and it's one of my favorite episodes. Cheers to your amazing concept! This has the makings of a long and fruitful series if you keep doing it. I can't wait for more!
I finally found a channel that explains the subtleties of Futurama. . Cool. Maybe it was in a previous video. Why is the Planet Express building the only one with power lines ?
32:36 why does bender (a machine) have a problem with giving his name to another machine? Unless he means non sentient programs specifically. I love over-thinking futurama (and this series too)
Fry is left handed. He wrote his speech crib notes on his right arm. I don't know if that is something everyone knows, but I thought I would bring it up. Great video!
16:50 I think it only works with Zoidberg because he's the only one gluttonous and pathetic enough to have seconds. I think Fry could have also pulled off this line, but he already had the brilliant "heaping bowl of salt" line.
8:50, there is actually one other word, that being larnt which is the past tense and past participle of learn. In the context of the scene, maybe the machine scams you of your money, so you learned not to put any more in, but I think I'm reaching critical overthinking levels so I'll just go ahead and say it's nonsense. Love your content by the way, glad to see you back hope you're doing well :) Edit: I took an astronomy class and hearing you discuss star systems is super neat!
16:33 Absolutely, I've always taken that joke as "Zoidberg, being famously unintelligent and bad at medicine, doesn't understand that he has different limits to the humans and is in fact so unaffected by this that we don't even need to check back in on him after"
Your content is sooo underrated! I never looked at your follower count and I've been watching for a while now. In my head this is clearly 100k+ level content . Keep it up!
27:00 I always thought the reading of the words was a reference to how the bible starts. Dude begat dude who begat dude kind of thing that just goes on forever. Love these videos, keep them coming.
18:08 -Which makes even more sense years later when we learn the entire ancient eqyptian culture was in fact influenced by ancient aliens whose races still exist in this manner during the timeline of the show. It's technically a third form of alienese for those defending/visited by those from that particular planet.
22:42 there's a great fiction novel called The Three Body Problem, and it goes heavily into the science of how a planet with three suns would experience their effects
Bender also often does Sal (the space trucker that adds an extra s to many of his words), Elzar, and at least once has been Joey Mousepad (the Robot Mafia guy). He CAN do other voices, he just has used a specific one for his two most well-known roles (Bender and Jake the Dog).
30:30 The emperor literally just said he refused to be sweated or urinated out. So yes, it makes sense that he'd still be inside Fry even after a day or so.
16:34 i think the humor here is meant to be that the line is coming from a salt water creature. Even with Zoidberg's lack of understanding of human physiology, he should have known, or at least reasonably assumed, that he had a higher salt tolerance. In another episode {Hell Is Other Robots), Hermes announces as part of his budget slashing, "As a further cost-cutting measure, i have eliminated the salt water cooler." And Zoidberg reacts with outrage. Clearly he's been using this, and surely it must be obvious even to him that he's the only one. Edit: confirmed episode in question.
The three body problem (book and Netflix show) deals quite a bit with a world orbiting 3 stars. It could help/ give inspiration for the trisol solar system video
Once every month or three, a new video pops up and I'm not sure if it's you or The Hip Joint. I'm watching it either way but there's always that moment of confusion before I give up and click.
I had literally never heard of Emmerill until like last year when Hats Off Entertainment made a video on his failed sitcom. I had never realised Elzar was a parody of someone specific
Hmm. I've been thinking about the ask vs ax thing. I don't know if Leela's counts here because she said asked, not ask. It would be stupid but possible that it's asking, asked, asker, etc, but the singular has turned to ax. That's just me being sure to leave something for the video though heheh
I get why cause this video is pretty long but I wish you covered the butcher scene in Little Neptune purely for the owner. His first line is simply "What you want human?" No nonchalantly and later gives Bender the yellow slug instead of the purple one which causes nightmarish diarrhea. Bender said he didnt care yet the owner did everyone at Planet Express a favor
@ they have a book that says “1000 ways to cook humans” but then they uncover a For between cook and humans, and the aliens think they’re so rude they put them back on earth
@@rfurthegamer3412 *for forty humans ;) damn space dust.. but yeah it was a parody of that episode. A few of the early Treehouses barrowed from The Twilight Zone
Fun fact! The closest star system to us, the Alpha Centauri system, is a three-star system! (Alpha Centauri B orbits Alpha Centauri A, while Proxima Centauri orbits farther away, and is a dwarf star.) The system has a planet that is in the habitable zone with a similar size and composition as earth.
WHY OH WHY did Leela park the ship so far from the palace? This WHOLE mess would be avoided if she just dropped Fry off at the entrance instead of having him walk hours through a hot desert.
Fry's general laziness wasn't fully established yet at the time of this episode, but I think later shows make it clear that he might well have done it just from having to walk up the steps.
I rewatched this already, and had a crazy idea when you referred to the crowd of Trisolians at Fry's coronation as a "sea." What if they were/are that planet's ocean? I have no evidence for this other than the attendance at the coronation. Look at 26:36, here's clearly enough of them to form an actual ocean.
I like it. So kinda like Odo and the Great Link in DS9? Or perhaps the ocean itself came to life in the form of many different conscious organisms? Maybe even both...
I remember when I originally watched this episode, Bender's antenna popped up when he was getting his 'undercoating' applied. It seems to be missing from all the modern releases though. Is this a mandela effect, or just something they cut after later information gave us more insight into what the antenna was for?
16:31 I think it's safe to say what bender actually meant was "a lethal dose in humans" which zoidberg has no reason to believe is what he actually meant, and even if he did given his "knowledge" of human biology he's unlikely to know what the salt tolerance for humans is, so it's not suprising that he might think it's dramatically higher. either way zoidberg is fine despite eating seconds, so it seems like his salt tolerance is significantly higher than that of humans. also, it might just be a coincidence, but I always thought "Galaxy of Terror" was a reference to the film of the same name.
"Galaxy of Terror" might be a reference, but I wasn't 100% sure. "Forbidden Zone" is also a movie title (as is "Death Zone," but that came out in 2018). If all the zones were also movie titles, I would have felt more certain about the Galaxy reference.
I feel like you dont overthink the trisolian species nesrly enough in this video. Are they pure liquid, or are they microorganisms that have some form of bioluminescents and sexual dimorphism? How are the guard trisols buff when they are made of water? What does it mean to grow in size as a liquid species on a desert planet? If they are microorganisms that simply ocupy liquid, did they cause the planet to become a desert through their evolution by literally abosrbing the seas to make bodies? If so, how does a population grow or shrink? And if they are actually a liquid lifeform that can increase their liquid the same way we increase our solid why do we never see any food inside them the way we do with HGB when he eats evans?
My favorite thing about this series is how far you go into overthinking. Why does Bender care about cooking when he can’t taste? Well, that’s the joke. It’s ironic. NO, incorrect! Haha Maybe it’s a deep and philosophical desire to learn about something you can’t have like math being misunderstood as magic because it’s so hard. As I write this, I even begin to think maybe this comment is me overthinking your entire premise of overthinking as a punchline to carry the jokes in the show even further. Overthinking your overthinking somehow makes it feel like it’s normal thinking or am I still overthinking?
When we see the planet from the orbit, it seems like it has lots of lakes/sees. I would guess that's were most of Trisolians live. It's possible that they built this castle on a desert exactly for the fact that it would be the most hostile environment, as such making it less accessible for possible rebellions, invaders or assasins.
