I think the reason Amy wasn't at the Staff meeting is because she doesn't actually work for Planet Express, it's something that is just forgotten about alot in the show but she isn't an Employee, she's the Professor's Student and lab assistant, the episode with her PhD dissertation brings it up more
14:40 someone worked at the cryogenics lab but dreamed of being a brewer, they saw the name and iconography on the can in Fry's hand, they forgot where they'd seen it, but it got stuck in their head. By the time they did start their own beer brand, they used it, because they figured they'd come up with it themselves.
My younger brother and I would have a "Futurama-rama" every school holidays where we would watch every season on DVD on loop until such time that school holidays were over. I remember going through and translating all the alien language messages by painstaking trying to pause the DVD with the crummy player we had at the time on a tiny 13" Sanyo CRT. I miss that feeling, so thanks for going back over these episodes!
I'm pretty sure those guys looking for Benders antana is a reference to Lorena Bobbitt. She threw her husband's Wang Dang Doodle out the window into an empty field
well, also, u can also kind of consider ur comment as a pinky malinky reference (oh god that show was both good and sucked at the same time). if u don’t know what that is, it was gonna be a cartoon network show, but the pilot never got approved, then they tried nick, and they agreed, but a few years later, they decided to make it a netflix show. basically, it’s a talking hot dog (with human parents because he’s descended from a lone hot dog man… somehow…) who has a video channel, two friends, a camera crew, and a load of town pride. throughout the show, he deals with a lot of issues, physical and mental, such as his favorite snack food getting “discontinued” (though it was brought back), the town’s favorite duck, sackenquack’s, death, accidentally breaking a priceless object twice (although he wasn’t punished, as his father loves fixing things a bit too much, he grounded himself), forgetting his friend’s interests, looking in his friend’s diary, inadvertently making the impossible promise to make it snow in a desert town (and… kinda succeeded, if you consider popcorn raining from the sky as snow), making a (terrible) bully be himself (by accidentally making him an exact copy of himself), running a birthday party in a mall after dark (and having to deal with “robbers” all by themselves) when bob has to work all night, changes in town (all because of a text-to-speech stop sign), racism, and many more situations. and yes, his infamous catchphrase (used in a whopping 2 episodes, just like farnsworth’s infamous “i’m already in my pajamas,”) is wang-dang-doodle.

Hope you keep making these, loving this series. I was so sad when i realized this is current lol was hoping you made these years ago and i could watch them all haha well cant wait to see them as they come out!
7:39 this is actually a really important point. Humans being human is such a big part of history. My three favorite examples of it (of the not super wholesome and heart wrenching variety) are as follows. 1. We have a cave with this ancient text carved high up on the wall. What did this jerk write that we couldn't decipher for eons? This is very high up. Thanks captain obvious. 2. One of the oldest cuneiform tablets ever found was a complaint letter written to a copper merchant, Ea Nasir, complaining about the quality of his copper. The tablet was found on what could only be described as an altar. Further excavation of the site revealed that there were more complaint tablets. It is now believed that the site was Ea Nasir's place of residence. The man took hus yelp reviews and built an altar to them so majestic that we can see how angry he nade people over 4000 years later. And last, but certainly not least as this is my absolute modt favorite example of humans being human 3. In the Hagia Sophia there were these scratch marks found in the walls and for the longest time it was believed that they were just scratches until someone realized that they were Nordic runes. So they set about restoring and translating the runes. And when it was finally done everyone was so excited to see what was so important that someone would vandalize one of the most beautiful buildings ever built to shout their message across time. The message was actually two messages and there was some assumptions made because they couldn't fully restore it so I'll give you the most popular translation of the two carvings. "Halfdan was here." "Ari made this one" At the end of the day, humans will always be human, whether here or in a thousand years or on another planet. We all just want the same things. We want to be remembered and to feel safe and loved. And that's a big part of what makes Futurama so good because it captures the human desire for all that so well. I've long believed that Bender hates humans because he will never truly get to be human. Even if he does all the human things it will be his creator that is remembered, not him. Fry's family never forgot him, nor did Seymour. He doesn't know it, but he's lived such a truly human life and in two different time periods been loved and missed and mourned and that tugs at our hearts because we are human and deep down we just want our legacy to be remembered.
You also failed to mention, Fry's outfit is based off of James Dean. If you do more of these videos you could use that tidbit for when you are commenting on him selling his clothes to the Pawn Shop for 20$ or when they visit the Historic Newyork and the employee laughs at his clothes and believes that Fry works there.
I for sure am stoked to see more of these. I've been giving the series some rewatches in preparation for the new revival. (4 days! wow!) It's really great to hear info about the show I had no clue about.

Subscribed! While I would have loved there to be loads of episodes to work through I'm happy to feel like I'm part of something from the (near) beginning
In regards to the conveyor belt of food, we actually have a fairly similar thing in Australia called sushi trains (there are a few franchises that have these, one of which is indeed named "Sushi Train"); granted, the plates are covered before serving, but the concept absolutely works.
That scene where they walk toward the camera with neon signs floating by, I think I've seen a black and white version of that from an old film but I couldn't place it. I looked it up and it might have been The Glass Wall from 1953. It's much closer than what the lost weekend does.
If I remember correctly, the thing about the owls being intentionally let loose comes from the DVD commentary for this episode, but my brain might just be manufacturing false memories.
There's a trend with restaurants that work like the food omat, conveyor belt loops around and you just take what you want and pay by the plate, each color plate is a different price. The ones I've been to just have little clear domes over each plate.
Dude I think your analysis are amazing I hope you do this for other shows like gravity falls, Simpsons, owl House, steven universe amphibia etc. Or movies
When you're doing the analysis videos you might want to also do the box art for the DVDs on the season 1 DVD there's a Simpson reference @@Sceneometry
I didn't mention the 30th Century Fox thing because it isn't specific to any one episode. As for the cops...true, they don't really resolve Fry and Leela's legal troubles. However, they are no longer fugitives because the professor gave them jobs at the end of Episode 1.
I noticed that as well. Also, two references to shows from the 70s (Happy Days and The Odd Couple). Moreso than most others, this episode strikes me as very Simpsons-esque. I wonder if the references are simply a reflection of the writer's interests, or if they came about because of the network's requests and specifications to Groening and team.
@@Sceneometry i imagine it was mostly the trying to implement a more sitcom feel (which i can imagine is a result of the notes from the network), where the two prior episodes had leaned heavily into the sci-fi aspect of the show. however i'd say it's a welcome addition to the shows setup as it establishes that although it's leaning hard into the 'star trekified' future with lasers and aliens and interplanetary travel, there's still going to be an aspect of things never actually changing at all, with more character focused, sitcom-ey plots that aren't really altered by the time jump. it's honestly one of my favourite episodes of the first season just for how laid back it is! if you've read this far i just wish the best of luck for the channel and the series, the editing is something you usually only see in larger channels, if i hadn't checked your page i would've assumed it had been up for at least a year lmao. great stuff.
Yes, read the whole thing, and I thank you for the complement! This channel is new but it's not my first (I've been on YT for several years now). I'm pouring what I've learned so far into this, so I'm glad people are liking it!
16:33 I mean yeah, if his thoughts are audio in a format speakers use (would make sense if there was some audio Jack somewhere on him to hear his thoughts) then a phone could potentially be playing it back. A TV on the other hand would be getting it’s data in a different format and thus display it as static since it’s not info designed to be handled as visual output
I'm 100% positive that the rats and owls thing is confirmed in the director's commentary of an episode. I couldn’t say for certain which episode, but I know it's in the commentary somewhere
I'm guessing the room Bender was sleeping in before the reveal of the "closet" was a mud room or something. an entry way to the main area of the apartment
12:45 actually, if fry used credit, he would be able to afford it. he just doesn’t know that his credit card is still active yet, or that the interest rate (accurately over 1000 years) made him a billionaire.
So for the point about benders antenna not interfering with other floors would likely be accurate as his antenna is a vertical monopole, this means an insignificant amount of RF radiation will emit vertically while most of it will emit horizontally, and assuming that his antenna is a quarter wavelength antenna he'd likely be operating within the UHF radio band which could be subject to significant losses going through the floor especially with plumbing and other metals that may be present in the structure.
They mention in the commentary for "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove back" That the owls were brought in to get rid of rats
I will bust out my DVD and have a listen.
Yes! You are correct! Comment pinned, and I'll probably have a short video on this coming.

19:47 I think this could be because they used to be people's apartments but over time there was a demand to store robots
such high quality for only the 3rd video keep it up
That scene where they walk toward the camera with neon signs floating by, I think I've seen a black and white version of that from an old film but I couldn't place it. I looked it up and it might have been The Glass Wall from 1953. It's much closer than what the lost weekend does.
The Slurm cans remind me of when I used to use a cheat disc to recolor taxis in GTA3
my last name is farnsworth and matt groening predicts the future so this is very informative
Infinite loop of "Home Sweet", didn't notice that until it was pointed out.
Amazing series sir I will watch every episode for sure
If I remember correctly, the thing about the owls being intentionally let loose comes from the DVD commentary for this episode, but my brain might just be manufacturing false memories.
There's a trend with restaurants that work like the food omat, conveyor belt loops around and you just take what you want and pay by the plate, each color plate is a different price. The ones I've been to just have little clear domes over each plate.
2:00 i remember this as well. i always thought that it was the owls were introduced and then became pets themselves.. but alas, i cant remember now
Dude I think your analysis are amazing I hope you do this for other shows like gravity falls, Simpsons, owl House, steven universe amphibia etc. Or movies
I definitely want to do some movies. Taking on other shows might be difficult unless I can hire some help at some point!
@@Sceneometry I guess I was axeing for to much
Lol...like the professor and his finglonger, we can dream. @@chrisbetancourt7111
@@Sceneometry a man can dream though
When you're doing the analysis videos you might want to also do the box art for the DVDs on the season 1 DVD there's a Simpson reference @@Sceneometry
I love this series. I hope you continue this
So keen for the next episode ❤️
New to the channel... LOVE this shit. Please keep it up ^-^
this series you made is great
I remember somewhere in the DvD commentary brings up the Owl bit of lore!
omigod. not only did u forget 30th century fox 3 times in a row, but u also didn’t notice how the cops didn’t chase after fry and leela anymore.
I didn't mention the 30th Century Fox thing because it isn't specific to any one episode. As for the cops...true, they don't really resolve Fry and Leela's legal troubles. However, they are no longer fugitives because the professor gave them jobs at the end of Episode 1.
@@Sceneometry yeah, but they avoided their old jobs.
The lost antenna is a reference to a story where a woman cut her man's weewee off and the police found it outside and were able to reattach it.
Thank you! Several commenters have mentioned that now. Maybe I do a "things I missed" episode and include this!
That was Lorena Bobbitt
this channel is scarily underrated
Thank you for saying so! It's pretty new, so I hope it grows with time.
15:41 it's because bender kept walking up and down the hallway, that's why it was affecting all the other apartments.
Such an awesome series! Cant wait for more!!
1:19, 11:40, 13:15 lots of fine art references this episode, not sure if there was some intent behind that or if it was just an odd coincidence?
Cannot wait to watch more of your content
I need every episode from you
9:43 finally someone else who questioned this joke. Even if it is funnt asf
10:30 god bless you ive always been curious on these figures
16:33
I mean yeah, if his thoughts are audio in a format speakers use (would make sense if there was some audio Jack somewhere on him to hear his thoughts) then a phone could potentially be playing it back.
A TV on the other hand would be getting it’s data in a different format and thus display it as static since it’s not info designed to be handled as visual output
Do all. This is your jam. So much content lol .
I agree. I think they were just regular apartments before being rebranded "robot apartments."
ok as a canadian myself, i know the province you speak about @12:01 and that earned you a sub
Hey can’t wait for episode 4
Well done! 👍👍 from a new subscriber!
Thanks so much!
12:45 actually, if fry used credit, he would be able to afford it. he just doesn’t know that his credit card is still active yet, or that the interest rate (accurately over 1000 years) made him a billionaire.
He skipped the scene, but leelah asked the professor if the apartment was rent controlled.
in the "bart the mother" ep of the simpsons they use chinese needle snakes to get rid of their lizard infestation then get gorillas to kill the snakes
