For those of you who took Biochemistry in undergrad, you might have also learned Private Tim Hall (PVT TIM HALL) which also can work for the 9 essential AA's. Note that Arginine would be the 10th but it's only essential in children.
if you use this mnemonic, it also helps that the two L's are at the end of haLL are the strictly Ketogenic AA's. If you use PVT TIM HALL mnemonic, think of the private also saying "i LIVe for this military BRANCH". LIV=the branch amino acids
Thanks for the hints, I don't know if it could help somebody but I came up with a mnemonic on my own for mixed Aminoacids. Ketogenic: you eat Lamb and Liver - Leucine / Lysine Glucogenic: you eat Honey, Mango, Vanilla - Histidine, Methionine, Valine Mixed: you eat Phun Threats until you get Tyred, fat and Isolated. - Phenilalanine, Threonine, Tyrosine and Isoleucine.
They way I remember ketogenic/gluconeogenic AAs is that since they’re mixed, their names are longest (tryptophan, isoleucine, phenylalanine, threonine). Works for me, hope it helps.
To remember the Mixed group of amino acids, if you learned the Essential amino acids, the Glucogenic amino acids, and the Ketogenic amino acids, the Mixed amino acids are the remainder of the amino acids in the Essential amino acids that are not the Glucogenic or Ketogenic. In other words, by process of elimination of the Glucogenic/Ketogenic amino acids from the Essential amino acids, you'll get the Mixed group.
Where do amino acids come from when rna is being transcribed. They form to make the protein but where do they come from, where does ribosome come from?
First aid q n a test block 7, question 33) basically its asks for non essential amino acid, but the answer was histidine and the explanation given by the book is Histidine is an important and "essential" glucogenic amino acid in times of intense anabolic State such as infancy growth spurts and recovery from infection however it is usually categorized as a NON-ESSENTIAL amino acid because it can be synthesized by the healthy adult. 🤔
To be honest you’re really a life saver I wish I would’ve paid more attention in my medical school but now I can understand well thank you so much you really make a difference in people lives like mine thanks ❤
Where do amino acids come from when rna is being transcribed. They form to make the protein but where do they come from, where does ribosome come from?
@@qaz-fi1id The ribosome is a ribonucleic protein. Its protein part is synthesized in the cytoplasm, then it goes into the nucleus to receive an rRNA part and become a full ribosome. Our first set of organelles and ribosomes comes from the egg of our mothers.
I just think of the mixed amino acids as PITT for the University of Pittsburgh where the greatest QB of all time played, Dan Marino. (PITT: Phenyl, Iso, Tyro, Threo).
For Mixed think of eating a "Mixed" meal: Ingest Thick & Phatty Trout (good source of protein and fat so sorta mixed)... By the way bro you're a LIFE SAVER (literally) God Bless You Brother

Mnemonic for mixed aa: 5:58 : the Tiring Trip Is Finally over Tiring: tyrosine , Threonine Trip: Triptophan Is: isoleucine Finally: Phenylalanine And if u think about it, it is tiring bcz it has to do both jobs Gluco and Ketogenesis I hpe it helps^^Threonine
I-saw three-or-nine tyrannosaurs phucking in lamb, liver, honey, mangoes, and vanilla. This is how I will forever remember which amino acids are ketogenic, glucogenic, or mixed. Imagine a dinosaur food-orgy so wild that a flurry of delectable foods blinds you from seeing how many T-rexes are there! Is it three, is it nine??!? Who knows?!
Errata: 5:10 the second T should say "Tryptophan" not "Tyrosine"
ok thank you for clarifying I have just noticed that.
9:50 as well
oooh thank goodness i thought i was going mad, good video though
Tyrosine is too tired so won't come in this group
I’m 4 mins in & I can tell this lecture is not gunna be Basic 😂
To remember the derivatives of Arginine, it's just all the ones with "R": aRginine --> cReatine, uRea, and nitRic oxide

Watching through a friend's phone. Gotta say, I Needed this.

do you any other nemonic for other diseases?

I remember tryptophan derivatives like this:
B6/B2 = B3 (Niacin)
B6 - BH4 = seroTWOnin
Hope it helps!
👏🏻
💯
Mixed:
Isolate - isoleucine
Three - threonine
Tyres - tyrosine
Phrom Alan - phenylalanine
or you can simply remember as mixed PITT
You left out tryptophan
For mixed AA
THOR IS FEELING TIRED
THOR: THReonine
IS: ISOleucine
FEEling: PHENYLalanine
TIRed: TRYptophan
They way I remember ketogenic/gluconeogenic AAs is that since they’re mixed, their names are longest (tryptophan, isoleucine, phenylalanine, threonine). Works for me, hope it helps.
I remember it as PITT
to remember mixed aa think brad PITTs diet: Phenylalanine, Isoleucine, Threonine, Tyrosine
love it

Tyr also can be made by the body BUT it is made from Phe by phenylalanine hydroxylase. So if you cut Phe, Tyr turns essential.
Glucogenic aa- Met His Val-entine : so sweet!❤
Basic amino acids can be remembered as HLA is the most BASIC thing to be known for organ transplant
Mixed falls into the PITT - Phenylalanine, Isoleucine, Threonine, Tryptophan
if you are a soccer fan arginine reminds me of aguero and the derivatives i remember from his first name KUN (k= creatine u= urea n=nitric oxide)
"You trypt (Tryptophan) me & broke my Hart (Hartnup Disease), now I can't be nice (Niacin)."
Haha.
Mixed: three trips is loose fun: threonine, tryptophan, isoleucine phenylalanine

It’s the best explanation of Basic I ever got. Always had hard time to understand the slang.😂😂
amazing video,, thank you so much, wanted to add something , tyrosine is a non essential amino acid, our body makes it
Tyrosine is both glucogenic and ketogenic and so is tryptophan
I just got a question wrong because they were asking for co-factors. The co-factor for the branched chain alpha ketoacid dehydrogenase is THIAMINE.
You're an awesome teacher who makes every Topic Easy & fun. Grateful!
