Hi, Keith here from Hickory NC. You took the words out of my mouth. I'm positive that not one single pic he has shown from the start is a bad person. You know, "there's one in every crowd." I guarantee every person in those pics are good people who love their neighbors and help others all the time. Good people. I hate all the crap going on in the world. Jesus will soon return to put an end to their crap. I thank UA-cam and people like yourself for sharing kind things from good people. I, of course don't know you, but I know you're a good person who spreads good in the world. I wish everybody was like you and the Morgans, Jesus could wait much longer. Thanks for your kind words, bless you!
Now this was a real treat, such good stuff Mike. I loved the trip through the woods, I think you are right on track w everything you said. So cool to see a man taking care of his land and family. What you said about Ty is heavenly. Putting myself in his shoes and reflecting back, I grew up in the woods, behind Pawpaws house. The absolute best playground in the world! It's my hope he does just as you said. Today's young people are only money hungry and only desire money. As soon as Pawpaw died his land and possessions were sold quickly. No one wanted anything. I managed to talk mom into letting me have Mawmaw's sewing machine. She taught me how to use it when I was a teenager and I still mend and sew patches etc and cherish that machine because it reminds me of my sweet grandmother. I spent some time reading other comments this morning and wanted to remind you how really great it is that you are providing such wonderful content for us to enjoy. Your channel draws the good people. I know the haters are there too, sorry, but please know you are loved and cherished by so many around the world, so many genuinely good people! You never ask for money. That really sets you apart from others. No one knows a man's heart but the Father, but 'we' are able to judge a tree by it's fruit! Let me tell you Mike Morgan, your fruit is fabulous! Thank you my friend, thank you and may God bless you till your cup continuously overflows! 👍🚜❤
Here in Germany a lot of forests are owned by farmers, they harvest and replant their woods. Last week I got hold of some blow down trees which I have to collect myself. Every couple of years they send in a harvester to harvest a bit. They always replant, mostly mixed woods now because in the past (approx. 50 years ago) mainly pine was planted which cannot handle our coastal storms as good as some slower growing hardwoods. In the last 3 storms we had within a week almost a 1000 trees went down on their 150 acre property.
My dad had his own embroidery business after his retirement from corporate life. He had a very successful business for 25 years, right up until the day he passed away. I asked him if he missed his old job and he said he couldn’t be happier doing his own thing and working for himself! Best of luck whatever you decide on the embroidery…Dad loved doing it and I’m sure you will too, should you decide to go that route! Love your channel and have learned many valuable tips as I’ve watched over there years.
Love seeing the tractors and people who enjoy YT like I do. It's great simple content from all around our country, from all walks of life, it's a real pleasure to see and enjoy.
That is the wonderful thing about having land. You can pass it down and your grandkids can enjoy your legacy. They can then create a legacy for their Grandkids and your legacy can go on forever.
Melissa, my wife Lisa says you will enjoy a Brother embroidery machine! Lisa says to make sure you get all the software, and if offered, take classes on how to use these machines and to learn all the things they can do. Thanks for the great videos Mike!
My wife is an excellent seamstress, and when we stop at a place like Amy's Sew & Quilt, or JoAnn Fabrics...I break out in hives!! 🤣🤣🤣Now a Cabela's........🤔🤔
Mike; I planted 500 white pine seedlings and 2 years later there are zero left. The deer love them like candy, at least here in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Clearing blow downs and dead trees can become a full time job. Been clearing my wood lot of blow downs and dead stuff since I retired 2 years ago…. The good stuff gets split and sold as camp wood, the bad stuff is being stacked as a fence along the boundary. Every wind storm just prolongs the process. Hope to get some trees planted in the open areas this year….. It’s a lotta work, but I’m outside! I’m cutting and splitting! And I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT! DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS!
Mike our local sportsman club has a big banquet every year usually it's on the Saturday weekend day before Easter is when it usually takes place. But the Conversation association of our county gives away up to 30 pine trees to any person that is interested in planting them. They just leave a paper in there booth at the banquet to sign up for trees and about a month later they deliver them to you. I got 30 trees 3 years in a row and planted them and added on my wind break on the farm, but we moved to town and recently I drove by and they have really gotten big and have attracted alot of wildlife especially deer as my buddy bought the acreage from my boss and my buddy told me that his dog is always chasing deer out of the windbreak. He has no problem of filling his deer tags in the fall. Our sportsman club banquet attracts around 600+ people a year and they sell tickets to the banquet for 25-30 dollars for the supper which is Prime Rib and baked potato and a salad and corn and beans and it's all you can eat after everyone has gone thru once but when you get to the Prime Rib you get your choice of how big of a piece of meat you want. And always you never go away hungry. And they auction off alot of items that businesses donate for the auction from anything like guns and Terry Redline paintings that people bid as high as 600 dollars and they usually have like 25+ paintings and 25 guns including BB guns for the younger kids. It's a good time and I usually took my son along and it wasn't hard to drop 200 dollars but it went to a good cause. And the kids could buy a solo like cup and you buy it and they could drink all the pop they wanted during the banquet and they had a bar for the adults with beer and mixed drinks And they had a silent auction with stuff on tables around the outside of the roller skating rink cuz it was the only place that we could find that could handle a big crowd like we had every year. And the club usually had guns you could buy tickets for, as the tickets usually sold for a dollar. Do you have a sportsman club by you Mike ?
Hi Mike. If you are interested, there is probably a wench you can put on the back of your tractor to pull 3 or 4 logs out of the woods after you have cut them to length. If you look at some videos from "Sawing with Sandy", you can see what I am talking about. Have good days!
I have a little experience planting white Pines. You probably already know, but make sure you use a wide dibble bar because the roots on them are wide and spread out. I planted white Pine hedge rows back in 1995 and they are approximately 45 to 50 feet tall. Also, I planted a 6 acre clear cut in white Pines. The deer love them in more ways than one. They bed down in them and the bucks will probably rub every tree you plant, but they will servive.
Mike - the local Ag Extension may have a reforestation program. Might be worth checking with them to see if you can get a deal on white pine seedlings. They will also help you with spacing of the seedlings and a thinning schedule.
Thank you for saying this. I have something that we use in Missouri. Private land Timber plan. We actually have a state forester come out and help us develop a good Short term midterm and long-term plan. Sometimes they help with the cost
Hello Mike & Melissa & all my fellow OWTM’s fans/followers Really enjoy it when you take us along for a ride/tour of your property. What will be YINZ next big purchase for the OWTM’s business? That’s a lot with red pine to dry after harvesting. Melissa is upping her game with embroidery. ❤️ wicked awesome Hello Hunter Have a Day
hi there we planted 350 white pine,Leyland and frazer fir trees . the deer have taken over and ate them . maybe 10-15 left . to many deer now . looking good john
I wish I had half the motivation that either of you display and execute. You’re always looking at the next adventure. I LUV that trait in both of you. Keep it up. Also, Mike great idea on planting the trees. Keep in mind, you have a good hunting spot at the small cabin. Be careful planting the pines around it, it will diminish your view. Besides, one of these days when you’re not out there sitting in the cabin, I’ll be in there taking pictures of all your wildlife. Keep up the great story telling.
Good morning Mike and Melissa, Great video of the woods Mike, lots of stuff to do down there and you've got the plans already. Looking ahead is going to be a great project for sure. Thanks so much for sharing with us, stay safe and enjoy. Fred.
I do a lot of walking in the woods and planning tree removal/clean up as well. I have a bunch of Eastern Red Cedar I want to remove to make room for the White and Red Oaks. While down in the woods I found what was later identified as a Flying Dragon Orange Tree. Nasty thorns and terrible fruit, but a very unique tree to have in the woods. I'm going to do some clean up around it and put it on the walking trail for others to see and enjoy. As for planting the trees for grandson Ty - if you don't plant them, it will not happen! Good on you for looking forward. Time to get back outside and enjoy the beautiful day!
Nice it’s awesome to see all the different tractors and all the different people that owned them I sent you a picture and it was on there it’s so awesome great video enjoyed watching it
Great idea Mike about planting trees. We are blessed with our natural resources. I have transplanted white pines and hemlocks on our property for privacy and wind protection. We are forever thankful for “Gods gifts”
Mike and Melissa, my Mom was a Home Economics teacher and I have spent too many hours in fabric stores! Actually, I learned a lot through those experiences. White pine planting is great! Mike, when will the other mill arrive? I loved the ecological aspect of this video and the love you have for your land! Melissa, I can see your gears turning to expand with the embroidery machine! Love you guys!
I agree with others. White pine is a food source for deer. I fence around any fruit or white pine tree plantings. T-posts and chicken wire high enough that the deer can’t reach them.
EVA did such a great job they need to hire her to do there commercials. I was quite impressed on how she did, sounded like a professional actress portrayal.
I was little surprised to see Y'all have some Norway spruce on the property... Back in the fall of 2018 I harvested a ( 10 ) acre section of them on my ( 90 ) acres here in n. central VT. They were approx. ( 50 ) years old as my forester did recommend the harvest... They were humongous, some were close to 36" to 40" at the base & much to my surprise, minimal core rot & so glad I did it before they had a chance to go bad... We left some standing at several vernal pools I have in that area, looks real nice now...I have some ancient foundations around the property as well... Bill... :~)
Afternoon Mike, Mr. Cory is correct the Butler County Extension office will have many different species of trees for sale in the next two months. Your land looks like it would need over the years a reforesting program to produce a sustainable harvest. The trees at the extension office would be at discount to anything you could purchase on line. Just a thought….Blessings to all!!
Mike..I always wondered what you would do when you go through an area like this with the blow downs and stuff like that. I’ve seen al lot of areas a mess with that stuff. I’d like to see a lot of landowners clean up these areas to allow for replanting. Maybe grind up a bunch of it? Take care folks, God bless! Hello to Hunter and Eva!🙏🎚🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
After watching the video about the Kiln, I am wondering if operating a Kiln to dry firewood would be a financial profit. I am thinking that using the Kiln would be to costly to be profitable drying firewood. The Kiln video was very interesting and selling lumber, you could see profit in finished lumber. I my younger years, I planted Walnut trees that I started from nuts. Put walnuts in a bucket with a piece of chicken wire over the bucket to keep the squirrels away. Through winter freezing in the spring I had a number of new trees. I planted them in a marginal farming area and today the Boy has salable lumber trees (about one hundred and fifty) to sell. They are about twenty five inches across and the trees grew straight up. When I started that project I was hoping for Veneer quality logs. Besides we have had black walnut seeds to sell every year.
Mussers Forrest products in Indiana, Pa grow bulk white pines. Pretty good volume discounts. Our youngest went to IUP and we stop in at Mussers retail store. Seemed like nice folks and their nursery stock was excellent.
Really like the idea of you salvaging as many worth while downed trees Mike. Great going and shows you do care about the property and environment. Think some re-planting would be awesome. Few every year adds up. I am putting in 1000 this year. One of my smaller planting gigs.
Good morning OWTM! I love roaming around your land with you❣️ The embroidery machine will pay for itself QUICKLY! Melissa - don’t overwork yourself❗️ PS - you forgot to tell us to share it with our friends😂 - that’s ok - we know. Marcus from Chesapeake VA.
Thanks for the walk through the woods woods i always enjoyed them I'm like you with Melissa but sometimes you have to do it because when the wife is happy every one is happy
Great video Mike!, I think that's great re-planting some areas in the woods in different areas with white pine!. I planted a bunch of white pine and welded up my own special spade to plant them it worked great!. Hopefully Ty will have some good lumber to harvest when he grows up!. Morgans good day!.
@@PatrickWagz I have a mini black walnut forest and we have few squirrels. They don’t seem to like the walnuts. They love the chestnuts, and the bird feeders. :)
have you looked in (Tree Fram) my father joined the tree farm back in the 80's we planted 2000 blue spruce just for lumber. My parents are in Wayne county pa (north east). Like you said if would be for the next two generations.
just read this Buds and young plants are always a favorite meal-time snack for deer. Moreover, studies show that deer will prefer the white pine before any other pine tree concerning pine species
At the least, check on whether the white pines are vulnerable to deer. Someone told me about that but I don’t remember whether it was good or bad news. They’ll browse little trees down to twigs on some species, especially when it’s the only thing green in winter.
@@trevorholland2812 Aaagh!! So do less work! Fewer pics at each video, longer view time for each pic. It's not supposed to be a training exercise for snipers!! Is it?
@@trevorholland2812 My old geezer eyeballs can't take in all the details of these pictures passing by so fast. Fewer pictures would be less editing work. Then the picture feature could be extended to many more videos. Then maybe it would become such a popular channel that...well, who knows! Snipers and speed readers train on those fast picture flashes. TV commercials do it too. Supposed to induce interest and excitement. Closeups and flash flash pictures just make me change channels. Don't you get tired of counting pimples on the coach's nose during NFL games? What's going on on the field, for Pete sake!!! Do you look at your family's pictures 1.8 secs. at a time? Hope this explains prev. comment.
Think before getting big equipment in could just do 261 and sidekick for day n cut in trails to pine areas plus get sidekick bed out quicker than messing with tractor bucket. Bill Chadwick IL
Hey Mike, Those dead pines at 11 inch diameter. If they are pretty straight, maybe you could cut them to length, cut them into quarters and sell the lumber as rustic fencing. It's just a thought.
My wife used to have a personalized gift store and had a really nice embroidery machine. Both of us took training on the software for it and I did a lot of her digitizing work and most of the hat monogramming for her. Whatever you do, do NOT get a Brother machine. Tajima is the way to go.

I planted 1500 for erosion control. The deer left me 3 trees. Pine tastes great, as venison!!
Yep. Might as well toss out some hay and save time planting.
Good to see you back in the woods.
Watched the splitting and stacking twice!😊

Great "renewable resources" video!
Great idea to replant that area.
awesome video Mike, loved that walk in the bush. Can wait for our snow to melt so that we can start working outside again.
You should market your bundled firewood as "Archie's Barkless Firewood - Premium Sticks"

That’s the good about having a wood splitter and a sawmill you can get use from dead trees. It’s like finding money on the ground.
Love seeing the tractors and how they R used especially the antique one. As a new tractor owner on a tree farm I’m learning a lot. Thanks for sharing
My favorite shirt is always the one she has on.

I like the positive statement. Affirmation!
Y’all it was 37 this morn here in Orange Park FL reachin 80☀️😎today! Enjoy a Blessed Day✝️
Great video!
We have several programs in Missouri where you can pick up free trees for planting. You might have something like that as well.
Very nice!
I’ve been very surprised by trees I thought were too far gone and when I dropped them, they were much better then I thought.

Mike u should do a video of cutting red pine good & bad trees. Show your viewers what’s inside
Good morning friend ;-)

Thanks for the walk through the woods woods i always enjoyed them I'm like you with Melissa but sometimes you have to do it because when the wife is happy every one is happy
Great video Mike!, I think that's great re-planting some areas in the woods in different areas with white pine!. I planted a bunch of white pine and welded up my own special spade to plant them it worked great!. Hopefully Ty will have some good lumber to harvest when he grows up!. Morgans good day!.
Plant Black Walnut trees. The grandkids inheritance plan.
Squirrel city haha
@@PatrickWagz I have a mini black walnut forest and we have few squirrels. They don’t seem to like the walnuts. They love the chestnuts, and the bird feeders. :)
have you looked in (Tree Fram) my father joined the tree farm back in the 80's we planted 2000 blue spruce just for lumber.
My parents are in Wayne county pa (north east). Like you said if would be for the next two generations.
Our tractor picture was shown cool
Great video Mike 🇺🇲
Morning Mike just sat down to get my fix on you show. 37 degrees today in Quilpie Queensland Australia. Heading into Autumn :]
Maybe a log arch to retrieve the trees . Won’t get the logs too bad with mud.
just read this Buds and young plants are always a favorite meal-time snack for deer. Moreover, studies show that deer will prefer the white pine before any other pine tree concerning pine species
Good luck getting anything to grow with so many deer browsing on your property!
At the least, check on whether the white pines are vulnerable to deer. Someone told me about that but I don’t remember whether it was good or bad news. They’ll browse little trees down to twigs on some species, especially when it’s the only thing green in winter.
MIKE, appreciate your editing skills with the tractor pix, always good for the soul . Thank you!
The tractor pics was a awesome ideal but I bet a lot of work
@@trevorholland2812 Aaagh!! So do less work! Fewer pics at each video, longer view time for each pic. It's not supposed to be a training exercise for snipers!! Is it?
@@heymakerphd1982 what you mean buddy
@@heymakerphd1982 not sure!
Do you look at your family's pictures 1.8 secs. at a time? Hope this explains prev. comment.
In Minnesota, the whitetail hit the white pine real hard. We need to bud cap or fence until they are 5 feet.
Think before getting big equipment in could just do 261 and sidekick for day n cut in trails to pine areas plus get sidekick bed out quicker than messing with tractor bucket. Bill Chadwick IL

Good morning
Hey Mike,
Those dead pines at 11 inch diameter.
