Sounds like a beautifully dirty whisky. Price and availability is a barrier.

Sounds about what I would expect. Neither of you looked like you were knocked out of your socks. My last Springbank 18 was the 100% ex-bourbon they did. I know folk these days will be desperate to get a bottle of the 18 but I've never been a huge fan. Same with the Longrow 18. I've even had sulphured versions of both. I always far preferred Springbank 10 (better value) and 12 (wow factor) which I could pick up all year round until recently. Here's another thing and I made this point on your 21 review. If any whisky is going to cost more than £75 a bottle I want it to be more than 46% abv. That's what I want for a quality dram when I'm reaching deep into my pockets for something at the next level but it remains earthbound at the same strength of 46%. I make the odd exception for very old batch stuff that has reduced strength with the angels (my Laphroaig 25 and its leaky casks) but that's it.
I'm sure Keith likes it, I'm sure you like it and I'm sure I would too. Here's the predictable rub though (and Dustin you admitted the same - in your heart you did), it's not worth it even in our crazy whisky world where mediocre 18 year old is being traded at £125+. Compare the price you paid to all the fantastic steaks and bottles of fine wine you could have had instead of this one bottle of 'interesting' whisky. Food for thought. Cheers guys. Keep them coming. WT

Enjoyed (enjoying) last year's 18, but $280 is a tough ask. The recent 15's have been very good, and I can easily pick up two for that price.

I agree that high for the 18 but that’s a GREAT deal on the 15 year, if my math is right.

I think in person I've seen the 17 once and a 19 exceptional cask. Both in the same store in chicago. Otherwise, I've seen the 13 and 13 finishing one they dd. For some reason we just don't see the other expressions locally.

@@topshelfdustin3060 same. Was your bottle 700ml? What I’m finding is we’re paying more money for less Springbank. The Springbank 18 year and 15 years that landed were all 700 ml at higher prices. The 15 didn’t go up so much. 109 to 116. 18 year was 209 before and now 260ish.

Great review. Sounds like a good vatting. I like the vattings with more bourbon percantage more. This batch sounds fantastic cause of the funky note. I like when the Springbank character comes through the cask influence. What did you pay for it? Here it was faster away from the online shops like a Rimac Nevera acellerates. But the price was horrible. 300 euros is way to much for me. Cheers.

For all the comments on the ridiculous price of $280, the last time this was available in Ontario Canada was in very limited amounts about 4 yrs ago and at a price of...$280. Since then NO Springbank at all and no Hazelburn and only the entry Longrow peated which came and went about a year ago. $280 or anything near that would be a bargoon here but hey there's always lots of wine. @@jf7910 Yes, it's odd that certain states are very high on some stuff and very low on other ( you can get lag 16 where you are for $75 here in Canada at least $175!) but at least you have the stuff available and also many states allow you to order in alcohol from other places, none of this is available here in Canada and no delivery allowed either.
