We are very lucky in NZ to have Whisky Galore still selling all Springbank at RRP when they do have it in stock. I wouldn't say we have to ever pay over the odds in NZ for Springbank. We just have to be lucky, aware and alert to the times they do have it available to be able to beat the rush to get a bottle. Glad to see you guys enjoyed this bottle.

Great review chaps, lucky to have a bottle of this stashed away and waiting for the right moment to open it.

A hint of dottle, love that descriptor!

Kind of fun seeing a review of this little number. My Springbank 18 days are well and truly a thing of the past. It's virtually impossible to buy in the U.K and it's not just because of the shortage if liquid. I know for a fact that those retailers that get it allocated don't put it on public sale but keep it for a select band of customers or flip it themselves.
I'm not altogether upset about its availability because I've always enjoyed the 10 just as much and the 12 even more. Unfortunately, they are almost as hard to buy these days. My last Springbank 18 (when it would stay on a website for months) was the only time they released a 100% ex-bourbon expression. Honestly, it's not sour grapes that makes me say this but I honestly believe there are other 18 year old whiskies just as good which don't receive the hype. I've made this point before: This expression would be so much better and really get the wow factor if it was bottled at a higher strength. I'd like to see it at 50% abv. It's slightly earthbound at a regulation 46%.
Always a pleasure to watch your reviews. WT

You can see the date code of when it was produced on the glass under the back label Gents. Should be able to easily tell if it's from 2022 or 2018.

Thanks for the reminder! Ours would appear to be the 2022 edition. I have updated the title.

Great review! The last bottle of Springbank 18 I bought was $90 and I won't be seeing that price again anytime soon, or more probably ever.
So as a sane alternative, not a substitute, with some similar characteristics, I've found that a $70 bottle of Loch Lomond 18 is perfectly adequate, or $120 Glen Scotia 18 if you're feeling a bit more self-indulgent ✌️

Great video 🙂 Sadly like you said are these bottlings very hard to get and you are not able to get these for retail price without a good contact.
Luckily i have a good whisky stock with Springbanks as well. Old and young ones and some Longrows and Hazelburns too. But sometimes you would like to go for a new release but the prices are way to stupid. And sadly these high prices are not reeching springbank. Cheers 🙂

Reminded me of the old days of the channel when Dave got almost no chance to give his opinion. I didn't like those days.
