    Congratulations on the milestone Mike & Dustin! 👏
    I can't wait for my bottle to open up! My first pour of the new SB 25 was along side the 10, 12 (2018), 15, and 18 (2021). Now take it this was my first SB 25 that I've ever had. So I'm not an expert with the 25's...lol. However, I would have to agree. This tasted like it had a nice balance between the casks and the SB spirit style. It still has a nice complex musty old cask flavor that you want from a 25yr + whisky. However it's not over the top with those cask flavors. It retains those lovely complex oily, earthy, dirty, and funky spirit flavors that we all love about SB! So I'm extremely pleased with this bottle, and can't wait to share it with my friends. Cheers to 2023 and to many more great reviews! Thank you fellas.

    Well done, guys...I alas haven't tried any contemporary 25 yo OB Springbank, but can"t complain too much as I can tell i tried "the real deal" this distillery wise regarding bottlings from the late 1990s & early 2000s thanks to some great shows & also collector's friends collection they shared with me early enough in my whisky journey to get those legendary bottles...Cheers !

      Older whisky is almost always better, but it is still great whisky if you can get your hands on it. I wish the abv was higher but SB25 is probably my favorite 46% er being produced today.

    Congrats on review number 400 guys, I’m looking forward to your 500th already, will it be a Springbank or a Lagavulin I wonder 😏
    The 25s are undoubtedly good stuff but sadly I feel are at the point where they really don’t stack up in terms of value for money, same is also true for the 21 in my view.

      I was thinking Highland Park 25 or 30 cask strength. 🤷🏻‍♂️ but we got some time.
      I’ve said before, SB25 is the most I would pay for a 46% of that age.

    I've only came across a 2018 and 2019 (bought them both for close to MSRP) and haven't seen a bottle since. Never found one in my state and was told by local store that they can get one, but they have to buy 15k in other product to qualify for one of the six bottles in the state...

    Happy new Years to both of you. What a decent dram to begin with. My Whisky of the year 2022 was a Ledaig 21 49,6% 1997/2019 from Old Particular. It reminds me a lot like a mixture of Springbank and Port Ellen. A fantastic single cask. Cheers. Stefan

    Springbank make a big noise about ridding the world of unnecessary packaging but I guess that doesn't apply to this sort of thing. Happy New Year gentlemen and let's get started the way I mean to go on. Let's hope a poxy cardboard box adds some value to a 25 year old whisky retailing at £380+. Personally, I've never gone beyond the 18. I appreciate the law of diminishing returns but in the case of Springbank it absolutely sucks. Even in the days when I could buy a bottle the price turned me off. The 46% has always been a bit of an issue as well. When we buy bottles like this I want it to be the full on experience. £400 is a hell of a lot of money to be sipping on a regulation strength dram. It ought to be 50%, the Golden Strength. I'm sure I would love this bottle but I'm at the stage where if a bottle is going to deliver a WOW factor it has to be more than 46%.
    Anyway, that was a very fine review. $1,000 bucks (deep breath) for a drink? You must be well paid. WT

      I do like these boxes if for no other reason they stack well, but yeah it's odd how Springbank's packaging has been the last few years. And sadly this is simply an irrational purchase and it's just stupidly priced. That said, at 400 pounds, I'd never let one of these slip through the cracks! I cry a little inside knowing how much cheaper this is over there at retail vs retail in the states.

    • @welshtoro3256
      @welshtoro3256 Рік тому

      @@topshelfdustin3060 It's only theoretically available over here. It's actually impossible. A five minute window and then it's just as expensive as you guys in auction only. At least you have the option of a purchase. Springbank's distribution completely sucks. It's spread so thin nobody is happy.

    • @topshelfdustin3060
      @topshelfdustin3060 Рік тому +1

      I think being in the states we see what it takes to get whisky differently. It's normal for people to hit their store daily for a month straight waiting for a bottle to show up, refreshing pages, and even making friends with the guys who drive the trucks. I know guys who stand in line every week a few hours to get whatever showed up.
      Getting springbank in the UK use to require I just check a few websites every morning along with my work email. And even then I saw the Roy's of the world claiming it was getting "Pappy like".
      Springbank seems from what everyone tells me over there similar to getting an ECBP over here. A bit of work but it's obtainable. It's nothing like the truly hard to get and allocated bourbons.
      So I guess i'm jaded by the US bourbon world. "I didn't have to bribe someone to know what day the truck arrives to be one of 100 people in line 4 hours before the store opens? Oh so it's easy to get!"

    Congrats for reaching 400 reviews, it was like yesterday that you celebrated 300, time only flies.
    Springbank 25 is just an exceptional whisky but sadly prices have reached to the point that I think you can find better stuff especially if looking at independent bottling. I was lucky enough to buy two 2021 edition 800$ each and what a whisky but this year I let it go at 1100$ plus tax. Same issue is happening with 21 year old as well and at this point it’s cheaper to go to auction than paying retail here.
