I was alive during the release but i wasn't INTO the show, y'know? Nor was I chronically online. So you know what? I'm happy I'm here, during the second era, of the Gravity Falls Theories. While I wont get to experience the insanity that was theories in the original Therory Era, but I'm HERE, Right Now, for the second coming.
What makes Gravity Falls one of the best pieces of animation is that it actually *ended.* Not only did it end when it needed to end, in fact, it landed the final act perfectly. It didn't get manipulated by execs to overstay its welcome, it didn't drag on and add a convoluted storyline due to its creator's illusions of grandeur, it simply finished what it started and went away. This automatically makes it better than 99.99% of all shows made today. So many series add plot threads and write themselves into a corner, it's really rare to find a show that simply... Concludes. P.S. A lot of your observations are funnier after reading the Book of Bill.
In all fairness I think they still could have squeezed in a few more episodes, like an episode about Wendy (that they planned but scrapped for some reason) or another episode about the bunker, bc its a bit weird that when the apocalypse started they all just kinda forgot about the bunker that was made specifically for an apocalypse scenario
@@freeguy3894 Alex Hirsch has talked a lot about how he *really* wanted to make a Wendy episode but could never crack it. A lot of the ideas they had mischaracterized her or went against a lot of the values and “rules” they made for themselves about the show. In essence they couldn’t figure it out and overall the entire show was super difficult, adding a whole other season was rough enough, adding more episodes would’ve been super difficult
I know "Boss Mabel" is just an okay episode, but it does have one of the funniest closing credits sequence, the "Stan Wrong Song." That song is worth the entire episode.
@@freeguy3894 gravity falls episode came out like a month after but it takes a min to write and animate an episode so I think gravity falls and FNAF 1 were more of a coincident
I actually remember watching this show as it aired, I was sitting in a camper by myself while my parents were at work, kind of made the viewing experience perfect. I love seeing more retrospectives of the show lately, especially with the release of the book of bill (which you should review if interested!). Currently very preggo with a baby boy and I wholeheartedly intend on raising him on this show !
me and my little brother absolutely adored this show. we still do. he was right and i was twelve when it first came out, and we bonded together watching it. we rewatched it recently- he's now 18 and im 23. it was so amazing to see everyone again
27:23 after reading/hearing all the Book of Bill reviews, it’s crazy to think about this scene because Dipper and Mabel know that their parents probably sent them away because they’re getting a divorce 🙃🙃
Gravity falls is having a huge resurgence right now because of book of bill and it's been making me so happy. I was dipper and Mabel's age when the show started and bonded with my older brother by watching cartoons together. I was obsessed with cryptids and scary things and was also a big arts and crafts enthusiast so I felt like I really connected with their siblings dynamic. Going into high school I felt the same way Mabel did, that I was losing something crucial forever and that I would grow apart from things I loved. I am happy to report me and my brother survived high school and college and are probably the closest we've ever been as adults! Every time we visit each other we say goodbye by doing the awkward sibling hug pat pat. Coming back to it feels like coming home, really great video and glad to see it getting some love!
I don't remember a lot from back when I was 12, but I do remember oh so vividly how I was glued to the TV in the basement and as soon as Norman revealed himself to be a bunch of gnomes my immediate thought was "... This is gonna be a **good** show." 12 years later and I'm still right about that.
I vividly remember watching the premiere of Tourist Trapped with older brother. It was late at night and you could feel the heat of a summer night seeping into the living room. Since that episode, we spent the rest of the summer waiting for each new episode to air. Literally nothing could stop us from watching the show, even when we didn't have cable. One of my favorite memories attached to Gravity Falls was watching Weirdmaggedon part 2 in a HOTEL BATHROOM MIRROR to flip an illegally recorded video
I was in high school when the show premiered, and I was at a sleepover when I first saw the show, the inconveniencing. From then on, we would try to have sleepovers to watch every new episode. I can't wait to get the book of Bill and hopefully the DVD boxset!
The Owl House & Amphibia are AMAZING shows, the owl house starts off slow, & REALLY gets good, so don’t give up on it if you’re trying to watch it, I would really recommend it, a decent amount of gravity falls fans really love those shows too (including me :D) so I hope if you watch them that you enjoy them!
Those are definitely high up on my list! I don’t know if I’ll make huge videos on them, but I for sure want to check them out because of how impactful they’ve been in the cartoon community.
@@ButterPrime I’m glad to hear that! It’s really cool to see gravity falls fans getting back into things, I’m happy to see such good cartoons like these getting so much love, I also loved the gay beam joke in the video :) (not being offensive to anyone, I support LGBTQ+) ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 The videos really good, & I’m glad to have watched it, so thank you for making it, I really enjoyed it, & also I really appreciate you replying to a decent amount of comments on your videos even though you have 4k subscribers! It’s really hard to do so, I really appreciate that :) (I have a small channel, & it’s hard to do, thanks for being awesome)
ive been binging amphibia for the first time and am halfway through season three in like four days 😃 i had to finish the trio after the new kickstarter stuff 🤩🤩
Man I wish I wasn't so young when this show ended. What I would give to use Blendin's time machine and be apart of the Cipher hunt, all those who decoded, poured, and scratched their heads together to figure out the Cipher hunt. I envy that experience and I think that is something you will remember, for the rest of your life... We love and miss you, Gravity Falls. Remember, reality is an illusion, the universe is a hologram, and buy gold! :]
I first saw gravity Falls around around 14 or 15, and I loved the show, and ever since I saw it I knew for me. This was the most interesting series that I have seen before that I was interested in other shows like Johnny test. As I grew older, the show became sort of a coping mechanism. I’m sure we all have a show we thought was the best because of its dynamic. , And gravity Falls was that show for me. As a young adult, I became even closer with this show, and I appreciate the lessons in it. There’s a lot of lessons about growth, and sibling-ship , friendship, relationship between family, and most importantly story. This show is my show. I feel so connected to it. I feel like no matter my age this show Will always give me laughs, and help me through challenges ❤️.
I think my most memorable thing about this show is my oldest brothers showing it to me the first time on kisscartoon, (also either owl house or Amphibia)
Yo this is an amazing video, The first time I watch was somewhere between 2019-2020 on UA-cam and all the episodes where split into three parts each it was so fun, It has been so long since I last watch it, I think it's about time I re watch it - :)
I think you would enjoy watching Robot Dreams (2023) and Ultra City Smiths (2021) if you're looking for some modern and maturely written animated media
a couple of my fond memories about gravity falls: 1. the way my family was introduced to the show was we were visiting my grandpa, who at the time lived in oregon, and we turned his tv to disney channel which was playing gf. the first scene we ever saw was "dude, check it out. butt island" and we decided it was worth watching more of it. 2. the 4-month wait between not what he seems and a tale of two stans KILLED me. i remember specifically once i scrolled all the way to the right on disney xd to see when the next episode would be (it did not work). 3. the day after a tale of two stans released i woke up sick and i laid in my parents' bed watching the rerun of atots. a few minutes after it ended my sister walked in and asked if i wanted to watch it with her since it was on, not knowing i had just watched it. i watched it again with her anyways 4. the day before the finale aired one of my friends was over and while we were eating lunch i put gravity falls on since the pre-finale marathon was going on qnd we watched blendin's game together. he had never seen it but he really liked it and was sad when i said the last episode would come out the following day 5. at school the day of the finale my friends and i were talking about what we hoped and thought would happen in the last episode. later that day my grandma and cousin came over to my house and we all watched it together. 6. a couple months after the show ended, i saw an episode of gravity falls airing called "weirdmageddon 4: somewhere in the woods" and i got so excited, thinking the show was coming back. i watched soos' recap and the intro and then saw the middle of weirdmageddon 3 start playing, and i assumed it was still part of the recap. i realized about 10 minutes ago that it was just the second half of part 3, and this is the reason anybody who says weirdmageddon had 4 parts is dead to me
Since he was wearing Ford's gloves, I assume he could have just filled the extra finger with a tissue or something. Bill likely would have been too excited about their deal to notice if it was a bit lumpy.
i love a good gravity falls retrospective video. oh what i wouldn’t do to get a copy of the special journal 3
Im currently saving up for the one that costs 5K :P👍

I think it's really funny how Gravity Falls predicted both DDLC and FNAF in the same episode
didnt fnaf 1 come out a few months before that episode?
