I feel like an underrated “gag” is the unbroken bridge that: 1.Never gets fixed (despite the amount of Lego workers we see during the WHOLE SHOW) 2. The amount of times it’s used during chase scenes or destroying something, truly a consistency within Gumballs crazy world.
I like that whenever someone slams their hand on a table it uses the same sound effect

The fact that Gumball was able to even reference the creepypasta The Grieving where if memory serves correctly anias gets decapitated and other creepy stuff, is just insane to me
You can tell the staff paid attention to the fanbase of the show and I love that
I was thinking the same thing! I remember that creepypasta cycling around forever ago, so when it suddenly came up in an actual TAWOG episode it made me weirdly happy 😂
And the scene with the fanart! They pay attention to the community a ton lol
For anyone that wants to know the grieving but doesn’t want to watch it: The grieving takes place in the classroom with Gumball by himself crying. Then we cut to Richard crying and Nicole coming in the living room and both are in black clothes for a funeral. The next scene is Richard and Nicole talking to Principle Brown saying that Darwin and Anais went missing and Gumball wasn’t seen all day. The police look in the forest to find Darwin’s limbs and eyes cut off and a note saying that Anais head is in a box (I think). Gumball killed them (for some reason I think or a monster killed them and Gumball couldn’t save them) and living with guilt, Gumball hangs himself in the class. The end

1:18:19 Of all the surprisingly adult topics this show had, I think the thing that shocks me the most that they put in the show is the knowledge that Gumball was born out of wedlock. And I love the way they show it, too, it's actually funnier that they expressed this without dialogue so the parents can have that wide eye moment.

A smaller detail I like about episodes like The Cycle and The Choices is that it shows Tobias learnt his behaviours from Harold. It was easy to assume that was the case already - since that’s just what kids are like - but I appreciate that they made it clear by showing that Harold himself was a misogynist and bully as a teen, and still is as an adult. It’s a good way to develop Tobias without focusing on him.

I always loved how they didn't make Richard the cliché dead beet, lazy father who doesn't care about anything. He genuinely loves his family and always looks out for them, even if it means putting his laziness aside
Except they absolutely do from time to time. Always hated how inconsistent the characterisation was in this show
@@HerohammerStudios That's not just Richard lol, they don't mind making characters act out of character whenever or maybe during entire EPISODES just for the sake of the plot or comedy. Gumball was extremely out of character in the schooling for example, and Simian was out of character in the apology.
I think the most depressing thing about him is the fact that he’s not a good father, but not by any fault of his own. He wants to support his family, but he legitimately cannot, because if he tries to do anything to provide for them, the entire universe will collapse in on itself. Reality simply will not allow him to be a good father.

Y’know it’s funny that in the last episode Gumball and Darwin were able to squeeze through the vents to escape when in season 1 they were stopped by a vent when their dad chased them, really comes to show how far the show has gone with embracing itself

Something worth noting, Gumball and Carrie was a rather popular ship in the fandom in the show's earlier seasons, to the point of being more popular than Gumball and Penny. I'm pretty sure this is the reason Darwin and Carrie became a thing in the later seasons, The Shippening referencing this further proves it.

Gumball came out at the perfect time imo. Chowder had just ended and CN needed something that pushed the boundaries in terms of creativity. Thus one of the greatest cartoons ever showed up, and I could not be more grateful to grow up with this show.

that had me shook bc a couple years before that ep came out I actually read the grieving fanfic (I was maybe 12) and it scared me for a while until I realized "wait, this is totally made up"
edit: for those who don't know, in the fic it claims that "the grieving" is a real gumball ep that aired and the writer is telling their story of seeing it on TV. that's what I meant abt believing it and finding it scary

Fun fact: The episode, "The One," is reference to an 80s movie and television series called highlander. The most popular scene being a sword fight in a parking garage, swords in trenchcoats and all that. The friendening as Tobias puts it is another reference to highlander, where chopping off the heads of other immortal beings, you would gain their powers and memories, this is called the quickening. The highlanders, or the immortal beings, are all out to kill each other, hence why "there can only be one."

I think Darwin went through a lil bit of flanderization in Season 6, he wasn’t just Gumball’s sidekick. He was his brother and he acted like such. He was jokey, cute, dramatic and moody. In season 6 they saw that he was cute, changed his voice actor and “de-aged” him to his core attributes. Bring Back Older Darwin

So, basically, the story goes as such. Darwin and Anais ran away from the school for unknown reasons. By the time the cops found them, they were nothing more than mangled corpses.
The parents received the bad news and later realized that Gumball didn't stay at home like he was supposed to and later found him hung in a classroom.
The last part of the story detailed the protag (it's a 'I found this creepy shit randomly' story) asking the creator about the episode who confessed that it was a joke made to mock a co-worker who lost their kid but never released it to the world due to how cruel it was. He suggested they might have gotten hacked and used the episode to mess with the protag

Hot take, The Uncle is one of my favorite episodes of the entire show. Not just because of the Mario jokes either. In contrast to The Girlfriend, Gumball knowingly choosing to become best friends with Ocho of all people for a selfish reason justifies him getting tortured, along with the episode itself just being extremely funny.
I agree, gumball wanted to "befriend" ocho just to meet his uncle and could've "dumped" him any time rlly. that's not the same as jamie just deciding darwin is her bf and him being at risk of being beaten to a pulp if he so much as criticizes her
The joke at the beginning of the episode where Gumball asks Ocho to marry him, and Terri says “told u” to Pasami was also pretty funny

i watched the entire first video with seasons 1-3 and instantly went to this one. Both so good man.
The rap about Hector was dope! Definitely going to play that portion of the video on repeat if not playing the whole video on repeat! Plus the transition to the next episode was smooth!

Ocho is a pretty good recreation of a rich kid with a “famous” family and no social skills. I've lived with Ocho before, Gumball's song to Ocho is genuinely spiritually healing to me.
I don’t agree with the girlfriend being bad at all, as someone who could quote that whole series I’ve relatively enjoyed it every time I’ve watched it.
My top 3 would be though:
1. The Choices
Like you said it’s just phenomenal, perfect mixture of jokes and emotion. The piano segment was actually beautiful. Play that episode in a room full of people everyone’s silent
2. The Words
That episode is so funny bro. Darwin smoking everybody for no reason. Season 2 had some BANGERS
3. The Awkwardness
The whole storyline of gumball and hotdog guy is gold. The awkward interactions and jokes are just beautiful.

Your energy and genuine love for the series is so infectious and it made me so happy to see this amazing show in the spotlight. Your second gumball video came out before I finished my *own* gumball binge. Gumball's a long show, so i decided to wait to watch your video until I had finished the series.
When I came back and watched this video I adored it. I actually looked forward to see what you had to say about my favorite episodes, and it was so satisfying to see it wrapped together in this really well edited video. So interesting being someone who watched this show purely as an adult. It was the cartoon that got me thru my late teens/early 20s with its humor. The depression episode always makes me cry, I'm glad kids got to grow up with that message that things DO suck, but they CAN get better if given the time and chance.
The Sussy episode is also my favorite, I would die for Sussy.

Both of these videos were SO well edited so consistently, and I really liked the format. This has made me wanna go through and rank all the adventure time episodes on my next rewatch (even if it's just for myself). It's always so interesting to hear other people's thoughts in long-form content like this for me - also the way Gumball switched VA's throughout the show was so fitting for the show's style, I don't think any other cartoon could pull it off.
I love The Parasite specifically for the The Last of Us reference, it's my favorite game so I smile every time I see that in the episode lmao

The funniest thing with The Best is that I don't think the writers were specifically riffing on Twitter, they went even deeper and were riffing on Tumblr. Like, Twitter is definitely way bigger now, but Tumblr is the origin of the kind of culture the episode was referencing. The current understanding of trigger warnings and how they should be used was based on Tumblr's tagging and blacklist functions, and the culture surrounding them was adopted by other websites even though they don't use the blacklist function so such a system couldn't work on a large scale

ive only been watching ur videos all day. especially this series. i fell asleep on yt the other night n woke up to the ranking of seasons 1-3 n it had my full attention. so i had to rewind it back. i finished that video in what felt like 20 minutes, so i looked back at it to see that it was 3 HRS!!! CRAZY. i always despise long videos but ur commentary is great n the way u dont douchingly (thats not it but it is now) shit on the bad episodes is so refreshing.

Bro for the last week, these 2 videos have the main thing I watched during the day, and Its so cool to see one of my favorite shows in it’s entirety covered and analyzed in the same way that I see the show now as well as how it was watching it throughout my childhood.
