I watched every episode of this great sci-fi TV series, when it was first broadcast in 1959-1960. I was 12-13 then and crazy about NASA, rockets and space travel. Love the theme music by David Rose. Angie Dickinson played Mrs. Ed McCauley in the first episode, and was replaced by the lovely Joyce Taylor for all subsequent episodes, and Charles Herbert played their 8-year-old son. Thanks for posting! I have the series on an amateur DVD from 16mm TV prints. I would love to see this series remastered and restored for DVD release. There was another great sci-fi TV series, "THE MAN AND THE CHALLENGE" also produced by the same production company, ZIV-TV and Ivan Tors Productions, 1960-1961, starring George Nader as research scientist Dr. Glenn Barton. I would love to see that TV series again! The series was based on one episode of SCIENCE FICTION THEATRE (ZIV-TV, 1955-1957) titled "The Three Minute Mile" with guest star Martin Milner.
Joseph, one good intertextual reference deserves another from the same film. "I like grits, too. How do you cook your grits? Do you like them regular, creamy or al dente?" ;) Thanks for checking in.... hope the rest of your weekend goes well.
This reminds me of an episode of the Twilight Zone when 3 astronauts who probably should have died in space returned to Earth and began disappearing one by one.

Happy to hear it. May do more soon. Thank you.
Loved this series as a yute.

I have the Men Into Space helmet in my collection of vintage space toys. Unfortunately, it's too small to fit me.
Thank you for letting me know. May I ask... does it have McCauley's name at the top or the word Astronaut?
@@TomOwensUAP Col. McCauley.
@@misterjaxon2559 that's a good one! ;)
Good old Joe Flynn, of McHale's Navy!
Yes... I was hoping someone might spot him and appreciate his other role. 73! ;)
This program was on broadcast tv but I never saw this particular episode.
I wonder if it may be de-emphasized due to the nature of the content?

That was "And When the Sky Was Opened" S1 E11.
*One of the guest actors went on to appear in the 2nd pilot of original Star Trek "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Who here can name that tune?*🪐🌌🌠
I know, but in the interest of not stealing your thunder or security's mall car... I'll wait to see if anyone else chimes in with an answer.
DonnaB has answered correctly.
Joe Flynn was in this episode.
Yes, good catch. He was of course better known as Captain Binghamton from McHale's Navy.
