my ear can't help and always gravitate to / seek out the lydian flavor when playing the 4th degree of any major scale - even when playing a plagal cadence I am tempted to throw in the perfect 4th on the IV chord. gotta love lydian the brightest colour in the keyboard.

Funny how different keys have different flavours even if they are in the same mode. The idea that all keys are simply parallel transpositions is literally an optical illusion.

Perfect, love it. Just ever-so-slightly over my head at the moment, and gives me something of great value to reach for. Thank you. 🙏🏻

No problem Charles - I’m always trying to show these things in good musical context - so even if a bit complex - you understand the meaning of it.

Excellent point! I suppose for the listener it is ambiguous until you resolve to G major at the end of the video. I mean it could either be the key of G major or C Lydian until you play the G major chord in a way that it functions as the tonic?

Thank you! That’s true, you need the tonic to know for sure. One thing though, i think between Major and Lydian, in most songs and pieces of music - it’s major.

Хочется вспомнить изречение: Всё гениальное просто. Хотя это и не совсем просто, но подача материала впечатляет, особенно с точки зрения ладов! Благодарю, доктор! 👏👏👏
