Mister Shkolnik, you are a fantastic teacher ! I was a math teacher for 40 years ! I know what I am talking about !! I simply love your lesssons ! Regards !
This Video is so great! I watch it again and again. And the examples from "Pop-Music" show, that also this mostly underrated kind of music can set musical milestones. And Bach was the father of all this!
The overtones we hear just fascinate me! I have heard about this but don't have much of an understanding about it. This really helps give me an introduction. And your synth sounds incredible. Samples have really become so amazing. I really like the harpsichord. I go to enough harpsichord concerts, but your sound had me convinced. Still, I prefer synths for the new sounds they can create, though I really like how you used the harpsichord and choir sounds to demonstrate what Bach was doing. I know the tone colour really affects how we hear notes. Andras Schiff has spoken about why he doesn't use a pedal on the piano when playing Bach, and even just a little sustain and sympathetic vibrations changes so much of the notes we hear. I know that overdubbing 1 violin 10 times on a recording won't have the same sound as a section of 10 violins. The science behind all this fascinates me. Sorry for getting so off-topic.
@@dr.guyshkolnik_composer Yeah, I guess the part that confuses me is how much each overtone is audible from root note. I'm just starting to learn about the overtone series.
Thank you! this is the Nord Stage 2 (you can download the same piano sounds on many or their instruments, the Nord Electro models as well as the Nord Stage and Nord Piano)
Watch it even if you don't read music! Good music ahead :)

I'm glad you enjoyed it, I wanted to present this first inversion, what it does, and way it's exciting. From Bach to Elton :)

You certainly can break them down Dr Guy!
You know, This is how I explain this stuff to myself - to turn it into useful knowledge I can use in my own music. Thank you! :)
Great video
Thank you!! ☺️
nice video!
Thanks man!
Great again thanks. that's the rock et man. Always loved maybe I'm amazed too. I don't read very well Guy to be honest. Take care lol
With single melodic notes, do they naturally have a Major Overtone sound to it? ie; ["A" - C#], or ["C#" - F]?
For C its: C - C - G - C - E - G etc... So you have the C major triad as part of a single C note. Was that your question?
