I was scared to do this but now I am not. Alex you're a lifesaver and we appreciate your channel. Guys/Gals don't be scared to donate to this fella and subscribe.
You are a legend my friend. The caliper piston recompression had me the most worried, but it seems to be straight compression, no screw winding needed. Already have the tools so I'm good to go. Thanks so much.
Hi Alex thank you very much for your videos. Today I replaced my break pads on the rear of my Range Rover L405. Without your help I would have gone and paid a lot of money to land Rover. Keep up the good work. !!!
awesome job Alex. very helpful. thank you!
Love your videos... Well done!
You're awesome, Lemon thanks you. I watch everything you make))) Cheers.
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I have one comment regarding the lubrication of the clips. The grease goes on between the carrier and the clip. The purpose of the grease is not to minimise friction between the brakepad and the clip, but to prevent rust from forming behind the clip. Rust has a bigger volume than iron, so if rust forms, it will squeeze the clip towards the pad and make it bind up. Here in Sweden, with salty roads, I see this happen all the time.
Excellent, informative video. 👍
Very helpful my friend.
I want to change my Velar rear breaks. Your video helped me a lot. Cheers.
Are they exactly the same?
Great Content.
Big help thanks.
Txs. Great video 👌
Great job Alex. Your videos are very informative. In addition to changing the brakes, I'm about to flush the differentials, transfer case, and the ZF transmission on my 2015 RR Sport if you're looking for new DIY content to help others like me.
Thank you! Will do someday!
I have benefited from this wonderful
One thing you should add in your videos... torque specs whenever you tighten a bolt! For those of us wanting to stick with the manufacturing recommendations... thx
💯
Nice vid... good job
My brother, you're doing God's work!!!👌🏾✊🏾🙌🏾 You've saved me $100's ! I appreciate the tutorial!
🖖🖖🖖
Thanks! Super useful. This is the same procedure on Discovery 5.
🙏
Good one bro
Your the best 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Excellent video mate! 😊
Thanks a lot!
Love your video's!
Do you have : how to change the rear hub - bearing ?
great man thank you
Very well explained, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome Video Thank You for sharing this Great information
✊
I hope my comments will prevent anyone else from making my mistake. The only thing I believe I did differently from your video was I couldn't enter maintenance mode. Therefore,
I started the car and had it running to disengage the e brake. This allowed me to remove the caliper, but I couldn't compress the brake piston. A costly mistake. Thank you again for the video. Keep up the great work.
Sorry to hear that!
Hey can you do a belt replacement video? getting a L560, just curious if its an easy enough home job. Thanks in advance.
A thanks for sharing saved
Me some money
There is no such thing as simply disconnect the brake sensor at the chasis im finding out. I cut the tab off the middle sensor so I could access it enough to pull the tab up to disconnect the sensor wire there. Otherwise rear brakes r easy. Turing the brake on and off was diff. Finally found someone online who described it so it worked.
Will it be same for range rover vogue SE ?
Thank you for the great information. I ll do my car tomorrow
Glad it helped
Is this the same procedure in putting a Range Rover Velar parking brake into MAINTENANCE Mode?
well in thank you for this 🍻
🤙🤙🤙
Do you normally grease the caliper slide pin inside the one with the rubber accordian - the one you take off with the 13 and 17 mm
god you save my life bro..👍👍👍
I have 2017 range rover sport, I tried to put into service mode, it doesn't go, please advise. Thank you

Здорово! Очень аккуратно и грамотно
My range rover 2016 have brake fault and I find out my rear right caliper is stuck I change put new bu how I reset this brake fault thank you
Replace the plastic cap lug nuts. Took me 20 minutes to do the brakes front and back. Took me two hours and four different sockets to get the Lugnuts off. One piece steel ones on Amazon for 39.99
Should you replace the bolts or use thread-lock blue? Which is better?
Mulțumim !sfaturi foarte utile😊

Thanks Boss
Thank u and well done

Hi sir after brake job my front brake make clunk noise when hit the brake hard
The way you put the car in Brake Service Mode does it work for a 2017 Range Rover Evoque HSE ?..........
And when you put the car in brake service mode can you turn the car off or do you have to leave it in
accessory on ?
Good job
Thanks
Gracias
Good Day! Pls I loosed and removed the two back brake callipers to compress them as the new pads wasn't entering, after fixing them back and bleeding, the brake pedal goes flat at first and comes a bit hard after several pumping but still goes flat when left for few minutes, had tried several means of bleeding, even changed the brake master and ABS Module but still having same brake failure.
Kindly help urgently. Sorry it's a Range Rover 2014 Autobiography and all the jobs where done without me activating the maintenance service mode or can it be the cause?
To compress the piston could you not just use a c clamp?
Thank you it's great job
I changed my barke bad last month and I did not do service mood shall I do it?
Hi! Most likely it's been adjusted automatically.. But you can do it just in case👌
is bleeding the breaks required?

How do you put a 2018 Velar into electric power brake maintenance mode this mode here did not work for my velar? Does anyone know?
We’re you able to find out how to do this
How to reset your engine light on your Land Rover
Hi. Do we need new brake sensor every time change new brake pads.
Thanks
Hi! If the sensor is good and there is no brake light on dashboard, no need to replace it
Hello, when changes front/rear pads and rotors is there a need to do a break? Thanks
After you replaced brake pads, pump the brake pedal till it gets hard
Do you always have to replace rotors when replacing the pads? My brake light won’t go off ... any advice?
No. But if you replace the rotors, always use new pads with them. Rotor replacement is done if they are severely blue, due to a binding caliper, severe rust, grooves in the surface, or minimum thickness being reached. Then both sides on the same "axle" should be replaced, regardless of the condition on the other side. This is to maintain a good brake balance.
If the warning indicator for brake pad wear is lit, you have either consumed the wear sensor, so it has to be replaced, or you have a break in the sensing circuit.
YO broski thank you so much. im broke with an LR4, saved me tons of $$$ doing transmission anytime soon? lmao
Do you have to replace the sensor when putting new pads in or can you use the old one?
If it’s not damaged you can leave the old one
is this the same procedure for a 20' velar?
Not sure
You should invest in a torque wrench. Why did you not grease the guide pins?
Is it just compressing the brake piston or must you engage the cutouts on the piston and then turn and compress. It also looks as if you are turning piston to the left instead of right. On my 2016..you have to turn piston to right to compress it....Very unclear.
Alex my rear piston is solid as a mofo. It’s stuck won’t compress what do I do
FOR ALL THOSE WONDERING DO WHAT ALEX SAID PUT IN SERVICE MODE IN BEGINNING
Remember to properly hang the caliper so that the rubber brake hose won't mess up.
💯
@rightorwrong8951 Can You explain further! you got me thinking like damn did I hang it right?? -Jay Howard But Thank you Alex Your a Life saver bro literally saved me $2000 knew they was trynna play me when they said $770 for the just the rear pads and $790 for the the front. Your the GOAT!!
would this apply to a 2013 LR4?
Not sure tbh 😕
How do you get it out of service mode for a 2017 RR sport?
Well made video. I am considering buying a 2013 HSE Sport and would like some tips. Do you have an email I can reach you at?
Can you post a link to the caliper rewind tool you used?
amzn.to/3UQfuX5
on some RR you can also use a diagnostic tool or code tool to electronically retract the piston...
Can't get that caliber to retract back.... even in maintenance mode.....??? I wonder what I'm missing here
Same what was your fix?
Hey Alex. One more question if you don't mind. I received my new caliper. I'm reinstalling the old motor for the e-brake on the new caliper. The motor is currently unplugged and on the bench. The car is currently in maintenance mode. Is the e-brake motor required to be reset into a maintenance mode position before installing it on the new caliper? Currently, I don't know what position the motor is in. If so, do you have a recommendation? Thanks in advance!
When you set it into maintenance mode you can hear how the they unwind into 0 position. Not sure if you need to do something with it.
@@Alexfixty I understand. Thanks again Alex.
Awesome video...where are you purchasing the pads rotors and sensors?
Thanks I went to the dealership they told me 1,400 for the front an 1,200 for rear I was like what that crazy ordered all from rock 🪨 auto rotors and pads 300
New oner of a L405 anything’s should look out for
@@freddygarrett nothing I've experienced so far...just brakes..what brand did you order from rockauto...and were you able to order the sensors as well?
Bendix brand rotors an pads ,, .an Yes brake pad sensor
It depends, sometimes from local warehouse, sometimes eBay or Amazon. Usually I look everywhere even call dealers :)
What about the brake sensors?
Replace them
But how do you replace the front ones???
Same procedure, sans the parking brake maintenance mode magick. So it's easier, apart from the calipers being a lot heavier.
I don’t think 2013 RR sport has service mode
Is it really necessary to put the car in maintenance mode to do rear brake pads?
You also forgot to mention you need a special brake caliper piston retracting tool. And you need to get the right retracting pad to fit the brake piston otherwise you are wasting your time doing the job!!
0.40
Missed that part on tool..sorry. But still puzzled why the parking brake must be put into maintenance mode. I have never used the PB. So it probably is not engaged and already retracted...correct?
@@marcoperez6952 The parking brake comes on every time the car is turned off. It retracts but not all the way each time you drive. The new pads will be thicker than worn ones and they won't fit o/w.
They just quoted me 1600 for rear brakes at the dealer. I said I'll take the free car wash.
