I wear that exact shoe. I don’t workout in them, I use them to walk around in. They are the best, most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. I’ve owned 4 pair over a 2 year period. Comfort must be subjective because i’ve never had the issue you describe in the video and would recommend this show to anyone!
I have the same issue. I have used it for about a month hoping that this problem would go away and it did not. It bothers me mainly from the back side and it cut my skin once and that never happened to me before with any other shoe
The original cloud X really works for my foot. I have a very narrow heel. I wear them all the time. However their new models the X2 and X3 have been epic fails. Hardly any cushion and the heel end of the shoe is much lower. Haven’t tried the X4 yet so can’t comment. Wish they would bring the original X back.
I own many pairs of the Cloud X…. Not at all an uncomfortable shoe. I am someone with a sensitive foot and have found them to be one of the best shoes available.
JCR...that's great. The collar of the shoe does not fit me right though...it rubs my ankle. I've never had a shoe do that before. I have noticed that other On Cloud shoes have lower collars, so I'm going to give one of those a try. They are a popular shoe, so they must have a lot of happy customers.
Unfortunately, mine was totally uncomfortable. I exchanged mine for a larger size, still, tight in the front (I have a bunion) so that gives me so much pain! Had mine since Christmas, and I've worn it less than 10 times!
In my honest opinion its a great shoes for gym or outdoor workouts. However I wouldnt recommend it for like heavy lifting since you do need your feet flat on the ground and the shoes do cusion a lot of your weight. But other than that its my daily workout shoes for the gym and for outdoors! hahahah I have 5 pairs :]
Try putting padding or socks where it's rubbing against your ankle while you have the shoe on your foot and blow-dry it on high heat for a couple minutes to change the shape of the shoe.
Peter...I totally appreciate the tip. I'm looking for a shoe I don't have to do that with though. This is literally maybe the 2nd shoe I have ever purchased in my life that has rubbed my ankle. Going to try a different On Cloud model and see what happens.
i bought the same shoe and i have the same problem!😩 i believe that part of the shoe has less padding and angled sharp on the bottom to make it comfortable. it’s a bummer i like the design. another is the price. it’s more expensive than it’s rival shoes.
Pochollo T...so bummed you had the same problem I had with the shoe. I think I had one other shoe that did this to me and it was when I was in high school and it was a soccer cleat. I'm willing to try another one of their shoes styles which I hope have a better fitting "ankle" area. Maybe there is a design flaw in this model?
That's exactly the problem i had with the Nike Invisible Run 3 (the shoe that many youtubers say is the Top 5 most comfortable sneakers). The side of the nike shoe was very hard and rubs against my feet near the ankle, was not comfortable at all. Looks like the On Cloud shoe also has the same problem. Thanks for this video. I will be skipping this shoe.
Caleb....it's the Versatile Shirt from Ten Thousand Activewear and I don't think they make this color anymore. See link here to the shirts. www.tenthousand.cc/collections?gclid=Cj0KCQjw39uYBhCLARIsAD_SzMRfh7Cywek0bnwTTvF2eP2rOSSDz_D5WJatzVGptJ0INc6qzXrM6tEaAsTDEALw_wcB
I have many models of On, including two Cloud X. They also hurts my ankle, but only for 2 or 3 days, so I just use them indoors for a couple of days before going on a run. Keep using it and the problem will disappear soon
Philip...I haven't found the best sneaker yet, but I will tell you what I like. For running I like the Topo Athletic Fli Lyte 4s...see video review here. ua-cam.com/video/EaRCd6yb1ts/v-deo.html. For walking around town, I actually like these Stan Smiths from Adidas. Video short here. ua-cam.com/users/shortsEooX3QdB8Ic?feature=share
I'm laughing inside watching this intro... I also have been wearing barefoot shoes non-stop and have an achilles/calf injury now :( And it just so happened that I bought the On Cloud Flow shoes until I'm better. Lol, great minds think alike! I've personally been super disappointed and annoyed as I seem to ALWAYS have rocks stuck in the shoes and they just overall are not comfortable. I got them because they're apparently more comfortable, but I can't wait to get back to my barefoot shoes.
@@FitnessFinance4u I am honestly a little worried going back to my HFS's and Vivobarefoot's though as it took a solid 2 months or so for my calves to recover. I'm just going to take it slow getting back into it
Thanks for this review. I just bought a pair of HFS shoes and have been walking with them for the past week. I would love to get into running, but am a little hesitant as I think it's too much of a leap for me at the moment. Funny enough, I was looking at the On brand as a running shoe option; this review was very timely. I'm curious as to why your physio would recommend conventional shoes, when they have been shown to do more damage than good. My instinct would tell me that it's better to go slow and keep adapting to the barefoot shoes and nurse the injury back to health with physio exercises, but I'm no expert. What was her rationale and what was the extent of your Achilles injury? Hoping you recover quickly 🙏.
Nica, my physio thinks I damaged my achilles by running in barefoot shoes too quickly after running in "normal" sneakers my whole life. She says she's seen quite a few of these injuries. She was adamant about putting less stress on my achilles as it probably went from short to long too quickly (thus the strain). Some viewers actually pointed out to me, in my previous videos, that I was running too much on my forefoot and not letting my heal touch the ground naturally. I'm definitely not blaming the shoes. And she has given me exercises to heal my achilles as well. Go slowly and be careful when you transition to running in them. I hope to do the same in the future. Good luck !
@@FitnessFinance4u Thanks so much for the thorough explanation, Curt. Good luck with the recovery. Please let us know what running shoes end up working for you. I'm still on the fence. Haha. I just discovered your channel and love how to the point your content is. Keep up the great work.
I got the same shoes and I felt the same way. My ankles were hitting the side of the shoe. I'm glad good old google analytics led me to watching this video and now I am returning them. Thanks!
Mej...I had to believe people were having the same problem as I was, but you are the first to admit it. I think there is something wrong with the build of that shoe. Hoping you can get your $s back!
Hello. I noticed in the quick shot of you running in the shoes that there's a slight deviation in the orientation of your right foot position that could either be a result of your injury or perhaps a cause. From a PT's perspective, you may have one or more positional faults at your right ankle that may have created increased contact with the shoe and your distal fibula (outside ankle bone). This would make more sense, unless there is an actual measurable difference in the left and right shoe's ankle support seam and the insert / inside sole of the shoe. I doubt that you still have the shoes, so just food for thought at this point. Hope you have recovered well from your tendinopathy! Best Regards!
Thanks for noticing Fabio. I'm going to my PT for my achilles and heel pain and that might very well be part of it. And you are right, I no longer have the shoes and they gave me a full refund, which was nice. I might try another style of their shoes in a month or so when I'm hopefully, 100% recovered.
Such a bummer... I bought a pair a couple months ago and used them for my Italy holiday... 10-15km walking a day over a month.. They were amazing... Shame you had a shit experience
Alexander...I still can't believe the issue I had with the shoe rubbing against my ankles. I'm wondering if I'm the only one to experience this? I've never had that problem before. Sounds like you had a great experience with them!

I call On shoes rock catchers. I don't ever run trails and somehow got 3 rocks wedged in the shoe which ruined my run. Only using on treadmills.
