    I have ridden the S1000 for a day while my F900 was being serviced. I found the 1000 felt very big and unwieldy in comparison. The 1000 is the definitely the the one for highways and fast sweepers and felt very planted at high speeds. The 900 definitely is the star in the tight stuff where I do 90% of my riding, I have no problems keeping up or riding away from most bikes in the twisties. I have not noticed the 900 to be floaty or unstable on rougher roads either. The other issue in Victoria, Australia is that the fun zone for the 1000 is loose your licence and your bike under the hoon laws here. I don't think the 1000's 50% higher price makes it a 50% better or more fun bike for my type of riding.

      I see that there are some tough regulations in Australia. That's a pity, especially in the country with roads that might let you use the speed better than in most other places which are crowded and full of traffic at all times.

    I don’t understand why you are comparing these two motorcycles. It’s like comparing the Ducati multi strata V2 to the Multi strata V4 pikes peak and saying yeah the Pikes peak is better. Ummm of course it is. Things that generally cost way more money are always better equipped.
    The S1000xr here in the USA 🇺🇸 is 6 to 8 thousand more than the top trim f900xr. It’s not about what someone feels. It’s about what is real. The fact is a fully spec’d f900xr (which here in the USA is a 15k bike) has more features than anything in that price range.
    Such as a class leading TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, simi-active rear suspension, electronically adjustable preload suspension that raise and lowers the motorcycle, Garmin ready GPS cradle operated by the BMW controls, tire pressure monitoring, adjustable windscreen and best in class fuel efficiency (which is so important right now) which BMW rates at 57 mpg and I am personally getting 61 for the last 1000 miles or more.
    I’ve owned 22 motorcycles as a millennial from most of the major motorcycle brands and my f900xr is the second best and most ridden of all of them. It’s approachable, confidence inspiring, has a great rumble, perfectly tuned for street riding and easy bike to learn to ride two up.
    I can’t say enough good things about it and BMW has EARNED my respect and loyalty for producing high end vehicles that has more features and tech than I could have imagine especially in the middleweight motorcycle category.
    Specs don’t change but people’s opinions can and do and I am sure there is always some incentive for a reviewer to say some of the things they say. In Spec’s I trust. Opinions are ALWAYS a bust.

      I will compare the V2 Multistrada to a V4 Multistrada as soon as I get my hands on the new V2. So many people make a decision of "should I get F850GS or R1250GS?". "Multistrada V2 or V4", "GSX-R 600 or GSX-R 1000" and here's the same story with F900XR and S1000XR. Logically looking at it, these are families of motorcycles that are within the same style and often purpose. Some people prefer BMW X5 over BMW X7 and I'm one of those. X7 is more expensive and I like nothing about it more than I do about an X5. So that's why I'm comparing them and I hope this explains it better.
      Just to clarify some things: "simi-active rear suspension" - Tracer 9 GT within this class has semi-active suspension. The ESA suspension in BMW doesn't literally raise or lower the bike but helps to keep it levelled in the rear. There's a subtle difference but it's there.
      Now, I can't agree that things that cost more are better equipped - it's a matter of what class/segment they're in. Even in this video I believe that I'm mentioning that both bikes, the 900 and 1000 can have basically the same equipment (if you really meant the equipment, so features, functions, additional settings etc.) yet for other reasons they cost very different amounts of money.
      As for specs, there's a 7 kg difference between the two. When riding, reality completely doesn't reflect that and one feels quite heavy while the other one doesn't. That's a matter of how components, various settings and angles work with each other and no data can tell you that. Same with quality, sound, design and comfort. There's basically no data for it and that's why opinions are what matters. As long as there are the same priorities and understanding behind them. In my case, there are no incentives behind liking S1000XR more than F900XR or behind having a feeling that F900XR is easier to handle.

    As a 900XR owner, I like my bike. It serves me well and does everything I ask of it. I think the target customer for each bike is totally different though. I see the 900 as a commuter bike that is capable of touring (which is exactly how I use it), I mean don’t forget, the 900XR effectively replaced the 800 GT as BMWs middleweight sport tourer. The 1000 I see as more a tourer that you can race and hoon about (if you really wanted to). I 100% agree, BMW really needs to lift the game with the 900 though. It feels cheap and under developed. Hopefully BMW invests a bit more into the model and the second generation irons out all the issues.

      I m ready to book a F900XR of 2021 , full extra at €14k with 790km .. Should i wait for the new that might BMW present next year ?

    • @eemoscrashed
      @eemoscrashed 2 роки тому +2

      @@georgediakodimitris4805 it’s unlikely that BMW will release a new model so soon, given that the bike was only released in 2020. The only updates the bike has had so far is the addition of an additional colour (triple black). I wouldn’t expect a new model, or any significant changes to the 900 before 2025. I’d recommend taking one for a ride (if you can) and compare with other bikes you may be considering. Like I said my 900 has served me well, and I’ve travelled 25,000kms so far, and I do enjoy it. I just feel like BMW could have invested a bit more into it to make it an even better bike 👍🏻

    I already booked the S1000XR :) Mostly based on the reasons you mentioned. I have felt that in case of BMW, if you are OK to shell out that kind of money, they do better in the top of the line bikes (S1000, R1250) etc than 850s and 900 etc. The middle tier has some compromises, you cannot choose all options together (like you loose ESA or center stand if you choose low suspension) and so on. Also, in terms of BMW the top of the line bikes hold their value better because that is what most people are interested in a BMW. I am sure the 900/850 are good bikes and millions of people enjoy them perfectly fine, however IMO I think I made the right choice. Thanks for the video.

      Haha same here! I too booked the S1000XR, mostly based on reasons you mentioned. I enjoy watching your videos. I can’t believe I’ve booked a bike without even riding it. 😅
      Now comes the long wait of 2 months till the bike arrives.

      @Dreamer, @Kevin, I think that your point of view makes A LOT of sense. Also in terms of resale value and BMW's focus on delivering all the best in their top of the line products. I suppose that we simply pay more money for them paying more attention to those bikes. All the best with S1000XR to both of you!

    I've never owned a BMW ,but i do like the look the S 1000 XR but the difference in cost is a substantial amount, and the add ons makes it out of reach for alot of bikers ,
    I've always had bikes that I can had panniers ect, and Japanese find them extremely reliable fast enough handling great no issues, toured France ,Belgium, Switzerland, and a bit of Germany in the past never had a problem, presently own SX 1000 kawasaki tour BHP is ample , been a great bike , don't ride as much as I'd like ,due to health issues,
    However it makes me smile every time I feel up t goi out on it 🏍,

      The S 1000 XR might be close in terms of style to your SX, perhaps more relaxed overall. And yes, our bikes are there to have fun with so I'm wishing you all the best and to be able to ride at any time you feel like. I sometimes miss that myself when winter comes and it's simply impossible to ride anything.

    I have the F900 r and I find the suspension is extremely good, but it does have the electronic rear suspension. I found the 900 XR a little soft on the front, ! The S 1000 is a better long distance bike, but most of the time it's impossible to access the power, and the higher revs can get annoying.

    I currently own an S1000XR (mid 2020), and I am happy with it. The top-end performance/speed is bonkers, but I have to admit I hardly ever (can) use that power. My previous bikes (over a period of 7 years) were an R1200RT, a K1600GT, which I traded in for a brand new F750GS (I decided I wanted a smaller and lighter bike for my commutes, but very quickly wanted a bit more power), then an F900XR (for less than a year, it was too small for me and I just didn’t like the sound of the engine), and now this S1000XR. I’ve always been ogling the 1250GS, but I test rode it before I bought the XR and I did not find it nimble at all. So I’ll keep the XR for a couple more years. It’s very comfortable, relatively cheap to run, without issues, it has all the luxury and electronics you could want.
    Oh, and in case anyone’s wondering: yes, BMW’s are expensive, but I have my own business, don’t own a car, don’t have a wife, so the money is less of an issue ;-)

    • @VToldsMotoShow

      The last sentence rocks as a justification ;). I see it took some trying for you to get to the sweet spot - and hey, that's how it needs to be! I'm glad that you've found your go-to bike and I think that S1000XR of the 2nd generation may successfully represent a full package in the motorcycle world. All the best!

    It’s a good explanation regarding differences. But preferring 1000xr make no sense, because i don’t believe, they have the same customers. Like my wife purchased 900xr and 1000xr was not a option - too heavy. I have reconsider 1000xr for my self, but finally purchased 1250RS - i like more sporty and less ‘adventure’ riding position. On other hand, riders in love with 1000cc 4V will not look for 2V machines. Absolutely, 1000xr is better bike (it’s also more expensive), but in real life, not for everyone.

    • @ridingdreamer
      @ridingdreamer 2 роки тому

      Preferring the XR, here means those who can afford, manage and want to choose one over other. That is the intention of the video. Of-course if you are talking based on pure money or manageability then its not even a question.

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  2 роки тому

      That's what I'm talking about - the weight difference is 7 kg at over 200 kg, so likely not noticeable. But when it comes to riding and "feeling" the bike, the big one is harder to control, especially at low speeds. Still, at 160 km/h and over (just an example number) that might not be the case at all anymore. But yeah, I'd still go with the 1000 myself.

    Wada Bmw 1000XR jest to, ze ma moment dopiero powyzej 9000 rpm, z dolu nie jedzie i pali jak smok, szalu to nie robi. Natomiast 900XR ma ten sam moment co 800GT ale 700 rpm wyzej, wysokie zawieszenie jak kaczka 170mm bujajace sie. 800GT byla lzejsza 213kg, miala naped bezobslugowym pasem i do dnia dzisiejszego nie ma zadnego produkowanego motocykla ktory bylby lzejszy z max momenetm 90NM juz przy 5800rpm i wadze 213kg. BMW brakuje motocykla klast GT 900-1000cc z zawieszeniem 140mm, 2-3 cylindrowego o niskiej wadze i mocy +-130 hp, ktory moglby zastapic wyjatkowo udanego 800GT z rotaxem.

      I assume that since both at XRs and BMWs, both are pretty expensive. But in the case of the 1000, yeah, I'd say that there's a lot of bike there and it may be worth it considering the amount of emotion and capabilities it can give.
