  • It’s Tuesday in our exclusive access series in camp with Manu Samoa! The bulk of the physical work is getting done at their High Performance Unit in Vaitale, from strength and conditioning in the gym to intense skills practice and team run-throughs on the pitch. We talk with strength and conditioning coach David Edgar and long-time Hooker Motu Matu'u about what work is required to unleash the beast in time for Tonga.

    Samoa's got so much potential. Dunno what's wrong with them. They've almost disappeared from 7s, 15s and even league. I'm Fijian, and even though we got differences, it saddens me when an Island team disappears from World Competition. I'm proud of Tonga dominating league, NZ in 15s, and us 7s - but its just not the same when one of us is out and not performing too well.
    Best wishes to the Samoans, u guys got this. Much Love & Best wishes Uso's.

      Vinaka brother. Samoans are everywhere in sports entertainment.Boxing, Ufc or mma and there's a few uso's in the Allblacks (no.1 team in the world) Samoans are leading from the frontline for pacific islanders in the world 🇼🇸

      The only time samoans seem to thrive is when they are under a different political/economic system. You rarely see a star straight out of the islands. A few of them harnessed their talent overseas after they were poached from an early age.The Samoan political/cultural system is not conducive for talent growth.

    For Samoa to unleash the beast, wr must get rid of eligibility rules that hurt Manu Samoa. It also hurts Fiji and Tonga as well.

    Samoan, Tongan, Hawaiian, New Zealanders (Natives) and those Polynesian Islander people are some of the most naturally strong people on Earth... They are the biggest and strongest Asian people out of all the Asian race; YES ASIAN! They have the same DNA as Asian people, which makes them Asian... Thousands of years ago when the sea level was much lower, it was easy for the Polynesians who lived around modern-day Southeast Asia to island-hop, and they reach as far as Hawaii and even South-America

    • @mrt445

      The reason for that is Samoa doesn't have the physical setting they need for upgrading their workouts physically and mentally. They don't have the proper trainers to push them hard and a nutrienist to show them the right food to eat the amount to consume daily.

      agree somewhat

    • @faatimahislander6089
      @faatimahislander6089 7 років тому +6

      Thats because Samoan NewZealanders learn the NZ rugby structures , set plays , ball play (ball always beats man , draw and pass etc...).
      I feel sometimes at a cost though , of a Samoans natural raw ferocity. Samoans from the homeland natural footy instincts is to take you on , run straight over you with footy flair to follow . Sucks but its a fine line aye , how to sustain the Samoan strength and adapting the Tier 2 teams Footy logic.
