I think so, I was torn between the two and decided to go with Asus for the better specs, namely a significantly higher contrast ratio and brighter screen. It also helps that I prefer the look of the Asus over the Gigabyte. An extra hundred for a monitor I'll be using daily for the next 7-10 years is a pretty sound investment to me.
Great vid, got a sub for sure. Something I noticed that helped with the ghosting even is to adjust the OD setting, I turned it down to 20 and it was gone on warzone and halo.
So where did you get the specs for this monitor. Went on amazon and their website and both say this monitor does 400 nits. Maybe you need to correct this? Also couldn't find anything that said that this monitor does 4,000 to 1 contrast ratio...
I have a weird issue with this monitor where starting up games makes the monitor flash to black several times until I reach the “main menu” setting in game. Have you seen this before?
Hi, I bought the monitor but it’s not possible to increase the brightness because I can only push the joystick to the bottom and the left side. Is that normal?
This monitor is 10-bit at 144hz. That being said, you have to pick between ELMB (Motion reduction), or the red/green ghosting (With overdrive @ 20), or inverse ghosting without overdrive. it feels bad paying $500 for what seems like a subpar experience.
You should have tested older games on this monitor as the black and green ghosting is very noticable in older titles like Half Life and is a deal breaker.
Did you try to remove this strange ghosting by playing with overdrive settings? Or lowering speed of screen to 120 or 144hz? And whats the story about Gsync compability? It doasnt show in Nvidia panel at all? Ive heard you need to turn off Freesync in screen menu otherwise gsync wont show up on nvidia cards....
@@itsjustdroid Dp cable is a sure thing. But i saw somewhere that thing about freesync off, may be bullshit, i have AG271QG so i dont have a way to check this. All of those are Freesync screens but apparently they are Gsync compatible (Not officially) Wanna get to bottom of this if you know what I mean...
Overall, I prefer the Asus. However, because of the pretty substantial price difference, I'd probably pick the gigabyte one if I'm trying to save money. Hope this helps!
Hey there, I own the monitor too, and I agree with all of what you've said but 10bit panel. This monitor is actually capable of 10bit output, it just can't do it at 165Hz. 10bit works up to 144Hz.
Do you mean frame rate control? This panel is natively an 8 bit, it's possible to show the same 1.07 billion colors with FRC on an 8 bit panel but this isn't a native 10 bit.
@@TypeCTechReviews @Type-C Tech Reviews No I'm not talking about 8Bit + FRC. 10bit can be enabled at 144Hz and lower refresh rates but not at 165Hz, probably because it requires too much bandwidth for DP 1.4. Great vid, got a sub for sure. Something I noticed that helped with the ghosting even is to adjust the OD setting, I turned it down to 20 and it was gone on warzone and halo.
So you recommend this monitor bro?
Yes I do!
Thanks, i think il buy this
Is this a good monitor to use a PS5 on? Thanks
Can you use a monitor arm with this one?
Great Review. I bought the smae Monitor a couple of Weeks ago but i don't quite get it to look good. Can you share your Settings and PC Specs?
So where did you get the specs for this monitor. Went on amazon and their website and both say this monitor does 400 nits. Maybe you need to correct this? Also couldn't find anything that said that this monitor does 4,000 to 1 contrast ratio...
Hello, can you please share the dimensions of the table?
I have an rtx 2070, would you recommend me this monitor?
argh so is VG34VQEL1A inferior to this??
My friend, You said 550 nits? I checked amazon and it says 400 nits?
I have a weird issue with this monitor where starting up games makes the monitor flash to black several times until I reach the “main menu” setting in game. Have you seen this before?
Did you try it with an xbox series x? would you recommend this one over the (ASUS VG32VQ1B) fir xbox series consoles? Let us know thanks
Sadly I just found out it only does 1080p at 120hz not 1440p at 120hz on xbox series s and x
Hi, I bought the monitor but it’s not possible to increase the brightness because I can only push the joystick to the bottom and the left side. Is that normal?
Nice Review, but why is nobody showing the PiP Mode.
Are you experiencing any flickering with Gsync enabled?
Deleted my question, because after watching again...U answered it.
Video editing 👍
Nice revew BUT no word regarding using with consoles. It's really important to know how it's work with PS4, XB1
You don't buy ultra wides for console. Go for 16:9.
How long are the cables that come with it?
This monitor is 10-bit at 144hz. That being said, you have to pick between ELMB (Motion reduction), or the red/green ghosting (With overdrive @ 20), or inverse ghosting without overdrive.
it feels bad paying $500 for what seems like a subpar experience.
I think this would've probably bought this monitor if I hadn't been able to order the MSI MPG Artymis 343CQR for €570 which is a very good deal.
You should have tested older games on this monitor as the black and green ghosting is very noticable in older titles like Half Life and is a deal breaker.
Thinking about using this with a Mac Studio, think it would be good for video editing
What's the release date ???
Did you try to remove this strange ghosting by playing with overdrive settings? Or lowering speed of screen to 120 or 144hz? And whats the story about Gsync compability? It doasnt show in Nvidia panel at all? Ive heard you need to turn off Freesync in screen menu otherwise gsync wont show up on nvidia cards....
@@itsjustdroid Dp cable is a sure thing. But i saw somewhere that thing about freesync off, may be bullshit, i have AG271QG so i dont have a way to check this. Also - some people saying G-Sync is not working on some FReesync (Gsync compatible screens) from some reason with NVIDIA cards... This is one and only thing thats bugging me. Saw few reviews of AOC, Xiaomi and GB 34 UW screens and some people got it working on NVIDIA some dont. All of those are Freesync screens but apparently they are Gsync compatible (Not officially) Wanna get to bottom of this if you know what I mean...
@@itsjustdroid Asus is by far most interesting screen, If it would support Gsync on 3080 it would be best choice of all screens I mentioned earlier.
care to actually show the red-green ghosting?
Will this be a good monitor for Ps5?
i saw u did review on Both monitors i am interested in, So im askin. Do you prefer this Asus monitor or the GYGABYTE one?
Overall, I prefer the Asus. However, because of the pretty substantial price difference, I'd probably pick the gigabyte one if I'm trying to save money. Hope this helps!
To your knowledge, is the VG34VQL3A model a carbon copy of this one with an increased refresh rate?
Hey there, I own the monitor too, and I agree with all of what you've said but 10bit panel. This monitor is actually capable of 10bit output, it just can't do it at 165Hz. 10bit works up to 144Hz.
Do you mean frame rate control? This panel is natively an 8 bit, it's possible to show the same 1.07 billion colors with FRC on an 8 bit panel but this isn't a native 10 bit.
@@TypeCTechReviews @Type-C Tech Reviews
No I'm not talking about 8Bit + FRC. 10bit can be enabled at 144Hz and lower refresh rates but not at 165Hz, probably because it requires too much bandwidth for DP 1.4.
At 165Hz with HDR enabled, the monitor indeed works in 8bit + FRC mode. That is what Windows Display settings report. But once in the Nvidia control panel, you set 144Hz 10bit and both Windows settings and VESA DisplayHDR TEST (can be found on the windows store) will show it is 10bit.
Check my screenshots : imgur.com/a/3OPstjn
Even the monitor's own menu shows the same !
So it really is capable of 10bit output but the weirdest part is ASUS does not even mention it.
hey! In 2k only avaiable 100hz?
Sale right now on Amazon
Using the hdmi port can you get 120 fps on ps5 or Xbox?
Is this compatible with mac? I have a macbook pro and I'm thinking about getting this monitor for work.
Would you recommend this or the Sceptre 34" nebula? Trying to decide which one to buy seeing as they're very close in price. Thanks.
Good for ps5 right ?
Hey can you check out the aoc cu34g2x Ultrawide monitor
