Great review thx just bought one today - should be here soon. I'm excited to get behind it, coming from my two 27" monitors down to just one sounds like a nice change to me
Reposted from another video's comment: I just got this monitor. Have been playing around with it for 3 days now to see if it really has issues worth sending back. I have noticed the red/green black smear issue at 144/165hz and higher overdrive settings. My final settings that I have no issues with: Turn off all monitor processing features (ELMB, ASCR, blue light filter, eco mode, shadow boost) Overdrive = 20 Enable 10 bit color (Nvidia control panel, use Nvidia Color Settings - 10pbc-32bit-output RGB) (for HDR to work right) Refresh rate 120hz + gsync fullscreen only Global frame cap 115fps (nvidia control panel), set individual games to 110 in game FPS limit if possible I also calibrated mine with DisplayCAL and an i1 displaypro calibrator: Settings (top): sRGB Spectral correction : LCD PFS Phosphor WLED Family Whitepoint: (auto filled when selecting sRGB) Chromacity .3127x .3290y Tone curve: SRGB Contrast (monitor): default of 80 Conclusion: It runs great for me at these settings. I don't need anything more than 120hz because I typically play at max visual fidelity at the cost of FPS so I generally target 90-100fps in most games anyway even on a 3080. There is a definite improvement over my old 27GL83a-b in picture quality, black levels, back light bleed and uniformity. I am happy with the panel in that regard, but the motion handling and obviously max refresh take a hit vs an IPS alternative. At 120hz refresh rate I'm not even sure there's much motion handling difference vs the IPS, or I've already got used to it and it's a non issue. HDR performance is great for only being HDR400 with an actual max of 550. Sea of thieves looks incredible as an example. Anyway that's just my .02 from someone who read about all the issues and bought it to try anyway. This would not have been my choice if I were purely wanting high refresh rate and excellent motion handling, I would have gone for the alienware AW3821DW or LG38GL950, but those are 3x the price making this a great compromise. Final note the 34" 21:9 is SO much better than my 27" 16:9, it feels absolutely huge, and gave me the extra horizontal viewing angle I wanted
Thank you for your opinion and Settings about This monitor. I have it for around 4 months, and besides it is very powerfull on the brightness, the green/purple trails um dark areas make me crazy. I Will Try your settings. Cheers
Really enjoy how in-depth you go in your reviews! Have you ever used the LG 34GP83A-B or AW3420DW? Very different price points for those 2 monitors, but I'd like to hear how these budget monitors compare to the high-end counterparts.
The dark tones on those LG nano displays are disappointing however the LG nano displays are fast with very little image banding to be found with color tones that really pop. As for the Alienware I know little to nothing specific but I would certainly consider the new alienware aw3423DWF (The F model is the new one that does not use the G-sync module and is 165Hz) QD-OLED. Samsung is finally releasing their model based on their QD-OLED which is the same as the one used in the Alienware version. Samsung simply adds multimedia features into it. VA panels are nice for the contrast and the deep blacks but they are far more likely to have issues with dark tones. the MSI MAG301CR2 really suffered at lower than 70fps and at higher than 180Hz it could not keep up with the fast moving images.
@@aquaman5464 After about 2 hours of use the screen would flicker every 20-30 seconds. Changed power outlets, power cords, different cables, etc. Even with no source it would flicker. Total time on monitor was 24 hours before I returned it.

@@Djaym0 Ugh sorry, I wanted to answer right away but forgot about it. Not sure if it still helps, but I'll give it a go now. I've been seeing the green/red issue not often overall, but regularly in some games. It mostly seems to happen when the fps drop below 60. When it happens, it's rather immersion-breaking unfortunately. It can apparently be mitigated by in-game motion blur features. Using the monitor's overdrive feature seems to make it worse. Had this a lot in Deus Ex MD, as mentioned. There's a transition in night-time Prague at the pedestrian bridge, probably loading textures in the background. Where is the live background with the fox from? That's quite something. I like your review. I'd just like to note that color accuracy isn't the same as color gamut. I suggest you get a colorimeter if you're going to test this with monitors. The wider color gamut is preferable for HDR content, but otherwise it can oversaturate colors in the sRGB color space. Because most content from Windows to programs to apps, to the internet itself, is designed for sRGB, it has to stretch this color space to fit its own. You can get around this using sRGB emulation. I imagine both monitors will look similar if limited to this, though IPS may well still have a more vibrant appearance. With a lower contrast ratio of IPS panels, however, the difference may be less noticeable.
Affordable. Price conscious. Middle ground. Best of both worlds. Alternative words to plug and play over ‘budget’. I agree with ‘budget’ but allow the owner to consciously agree it’s a budget monitor but great monitor for its specs and price.
@@1UpNerdcore Maybe entry level? I don't think there's anything wrong with saying budget though since these are the offerings near the price floor for ultrawide gaming monitors. How would you compare this to the Acer XZ321QU? Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? I just bought the new G6 but returned it because it was super blurry, even after a lot of adjustments.
HDR is fully supported in most games through Auto HDR Windows feature (when HDR isn't supported in a game) or SpecialK software and FALD HDR1000 displays are noticibly better, obviously.
Awesome review and great points on the some of the features. 👍🏼 I’m currently planning to purchase either this monitor or the Acer Predator 34” X34GS which is $400 more than this one. For the price to value, which one would you prefer? I’ve heard great reviews on both but I’m torn if the predator is worth the $400 more. I’m a casual gamer and use my pc as a workstation. Some streaming too.
The predator, if I have the right one, is an IPS panel with a better response time and higher refresh rate. The nits aren’t as high but unless you are really needing HDR it’s not a deal breaker. 400 is definitely more and personally would be hard for me to justify but if it’s not a big financial strain I would go with the predator
Is a 16:9 monitor better than a 21:9 ultrawide? Depends on the preference of the person and their needs. Personally I like both, if I had to choose one it would be 32inch 4k is my preferred size which is 16:9.
From an article: If you do have an Ultrawide monitor, you can still plug in your console and play your Xbox games on it. But what you will see will be delivered in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and you’ll get black bars on either side of the picture. Alternatively, the image may get stretched to fill the available screen, but everything will look, well, a bit wrong.
Color saturation, also known as chroma, is a measure of how intense or pure a color appears to the viewer. It's often used by artists and photographers to describe color, along with hue and lightness.

looks like might be a monitor to upgrade my OG daddy of 3440x1440 VA panels, the first ever VA panel released in this format, the Samsung S34E790C that I own since 2015 (the 3rd ever produced 3440x1440, the first 2 being IPS panels from LG with terrrible backligh bleed) I was thinking of getting the 3840x1600 38" but tested one for a week and it's a bit too big and have to move my head to look corner to corner so will probably just get a new 34" not that I really need one, but planning to upgrade my GPU and could use the extra refresh rate, probably better colors and better SW features being newer ;o]
My Acer I reviewed on the channel has been my staple this whole time. G7 outside of the flickering was a good monitor. This one for the ultrawides has been good.
how does this compare to the Asus TUF VG34VQL3A as I just purchased the VQL3A from Best Buy here in Canada for $380 CDN. Did i make the right choice ??
Extremely similar specs like you said. The MSI has a 1000R curve though with a 200+ dollar higher price tag. I’d go with the TUF and save money unless you really want the 1000R curve.
That halo footage, is that with motion blur disabled? (don't know if thats an option in Halo or not) Thinking of this monitor but if thats the level of smearing this thing gets I couldn't do it.
Theres a new samung monitor coming out called the samsung s65u ultrawide curved monitor at 1000r, would you be ableto take a look at that and see if it could overclock it from 100hz to 144hz? Thanks in advance!
I can’t find anything saying you can over lock it and if you can it would be to 120 at most. The bigger downside is the brightness is still low on this like the G5 and it has a 5ms response time.
@@1UpNerdcore Oh okay, I guess you’re right as the DP port is limited to 1.2 so if the overclocking was possible, like you said 120hz would probably be maxed. I might lean towards the G5, if I can’t get my hands on the recent ASUS 34’’ monitor you just reviewed, G5 is great, except it’s designs quite noisy for my liking. Thanks!

I just got the inferior (I guess) 100hz version; pretty happy with it! Using it with PC and PS5. I need to try Doom Eternal out! Slightly annoying that PBP just will not work though... PIP works, but PBP is a no go (at least with DP + HDMI). No issues with light bleed, ghosting etc
def aiming for the AOC next after not liking the ghosting in the blacks and very low black levels are terrible when watching movies.
Watching movies at your desk is a strange one

So, you have reviewed so many different ultra wide monitors till now. But which one is the "best" of them? I know it depends on what you need and everybody has a different opinion but out of your monitors, which is the best price-performance monitor? My budget is between 500-600€.
Would be very nice if you or someone out of your community could help me out! Thanks !
I would personally choose this one first then AOC or MSI and G5 last
The curve is really dramatic. How does that work for a daily work computer?
1000R curve would be more dramatic. This is fine and worlds great as a daily computer.
@@1UpNerdcore Thanks looking at this or a LG-34GP950G or a 34GP83A-B that someone else mentioned was comparable but you haven't reviewed I guess.
Nice review! Had the g5 34inch and send it back, waiting for this baby atm 👍
What made you send it back? I am looking into buying it right now. Should I change my mind?
@@ahsannauman8401 No the Samsung is a perfekt Monitor. My one had a very bad coilwhine tho.... i heard about lots of ppl with the same problem...
@@ahsannauman8401 Its only when the Monitor is off, the little blue led at the bottom makes this very loud coil whine. If you dont have any problems with that go with the Samsung
@@professorb8583 does this happen even if the monitor is unplugged? Weird that I haven’t read anywhere about this lol.
@@ahsannauman8401 No, Happens when the Monitor is plugged in. I am from Germany i read about it in german reviews... try youre luck many poeple didnt have the problem
Are this one and 30" version the same? I am looking into buying 30" one
Thank you for the video!
I’m currently undecided between MSI MAG342CQR (144hz) and TUF VG34VQL1B.
Wich one would you pick? and why?
TUF. Extra USB ports and much higher nits than MSI
@@1UpNerdcore would you pick the TUF over the Gigabyte G34WQC too?
You mention the Aoc CU34G2X/BK 34". Just as a gamer that doesnt want to spend a fortune on a new screen, I was considering this. Would you take the Asus Tuf over the Aoc ? Or are they equal in your opinion ?
I’d take TUF over the AOC but on a budget the AOC is really close to the TUF and almost 200 dollars cheaper
When using PBP mode the aspect ratio is way off. Is their a way to have the image not squished? The black bar on top and bottom would be fine but not seeing an option here.
Thanks for the review man! How does it compare with samsung's G7?
If the flickering issue is resolved with the G7 I’d say the G7 is better. I’ve heard a mixed bag on the firmware fixing it though
where do you get your live wallpapers?
Wallpaper engine off steam

Coming across a lot of review videos for ultrawide monitors. I'm looking between this Tuf monitor and the LG 34GP83A-B 34, the LG being about 300 dollars more. In your opinion is the LG worth the 300 more or would this Tuf be enough for gaming games like FFXIV, stardew, some mainstream games and also streaming?
This will be plenty 👍🏻
What is the game at 11:45?
Have you seen black smearing bad enough to wipe out white text?
Not personally no
Great video, find it really helpful to decide.
I'm torn between the ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B 34" and the Gigabyte G34WQC 34". Which one would you suggest?
I haven’t used the gigabyte but spec wise I’d take the TUF
@@1UpNerdcore Thanks for the reply man! Keep up the good work.
@@1UpNerdcore I'd be sold on it if wasn't for the red/green ghosting in dark scenes I keep hearing about. I play horror games, and working on one.
It's really the only issue that's had me hesitant about getting the Asus Tuf.
looking into buying an ultrawide but i currently have a very small desk, how deep do you recommend a desk to be for a comfortable viewing experience with a monitor like this?
thanks
At least 2 ft
Should I get this over the monoprice dark matter 34? Also, does this support 10-bit color and does the dark matter have local dimming?
Yes and yes, dark matter doesn’t have local dimming
@@1UpNerdcore Thank you man! You are the most helpful UA-camr for finding the best monitors for one's need. Also, subbed!
I'm considering this Asus monitor. I wish you reviewed the Dell S3422DWG as well.
Those specs are good, I almost reviewed it but ended up not having time.
what do you think ASRock PG34WQ15R3A or ASUS TUF VG34VQL1B better? Same price in my country..
I haven’t used the asrock so I can’t speak on it
hey, among asus tuf VG34VQL1B, MSI MAG342CQR and AOC CU34G2X, which one do you think is the best one in terms of picture quality , screen quality build quality and most importantly colour difference .. it’s not for gaming only productivity
TUF then MSI and finally AOC. Small margins of difference but the TUF has way better nits which puts it ahead of the others
How would you compare this to the Acer XZ321QU? Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? I just bought the new G6 but returned it because it was super blurry, even after a lot of adjustments.
Would you recommend this monitor to use with consoles, i know the image would be stretched but i like the immersion of ultrawide monitors?
Yea it’ll work 👍🏻
@@1UpNerdcore do you know if i can get 120fps on 1440p on xbox series x?
HDR is fully supported in most games through Auto HDR Windows feature (when HDR isn't supported in a game) or SpecialK software and FALD HDR1000 displays are noticibly better, obviously.
its worth it to buy the LG ultra gear nanocell over this one, considering the LG is 350 dollars expensive ?
I like IPS panels but not 350 dollars more but the fact that it’s 1ms GtG and not MPRT would be worth it in my opinion over the TUF
@@1UpNerdcore i get the asus, thanks
Where do you sell your monitors?
Facebook marketplace typically
i think the monitor you showed before this one i would prefer
The msi one?
Good day, may i ask what live wallpapers/program you are using?
Wallpaper engine off steam
I like monitors with powercord only other brands still have big power bricks
Do you think this monitor will go will with the PS5? 😀
Glossy finish??? the description says matte finish..... I hope it's matte, just ordered it.....
It’s a matte finish or you ordered a different version
@@1UpNerdcore I've ordered the matte finish, but in this video at 0:56 you say glossy finish 🤔
is this monitor mountable. just want to make sure before purchasing it
cant find any review on a ASUS TUF Gaming VG34VQL3A 34inch
same its just this with a less brighter panel, better colours
and lower response time GTG
I saw you were only getting 144hz on Amazon they advertise it goes to 165 is that wrong?
Picture in Picture wokring with ipad or with macbook ?
But is a normal monitor better or one that is long like this one in your opinion?
Is a 16:9 monitor better than a 21:9 ultrawide? Depends on the preference of the person and their needs.
Personally I like both, if I had to choose one it would be 32inch 4k is my preferred size which is 16:9.
How do you do height adjustments???
Hi man I have a question for you!! Would you recomend this monitor to use with a Xbox series X?!
From an article:
If you do have an Ultrawide monitor, you can still plug in your console and play your Xbox games on it. But what you will see will be delivered in a 16:9 aspect ratio, and you’ll get black bars on either side of the picture. Alternatively, the image may get stretched to fill the available screen, but everything will look, well, a bit wrong.
so does this monitor have built in speakers?
Hello.. isn't it 165hz? I noticed it shows 144hz in the osd menu when you were changing settings in there..
Yes, you have to overclock it for the 165 if I remember correctly
how about the black smearing? why isnt there a budget ultrawide curved ips gaming monitor :(
Minimal to no black smearing here. Still one of the best VA panel budget ultrawides
@@1UpNerdcore but only 100hz 😪 i come from 165hz 1440p ips 27 inch. I think i will really feel that.
@@1UpNerdcore thank you for fast reaction btw.
i have that monitor and love it.
I have one question under color we have something which called Saturation what is that.?
Color saturation, also known as chroma, is a measure of how intense or pure a color appears to the viewer. It's often used by artists and photographers to describe color, along with hue and lightness.
@@1UpNerdcore should I leave it at 50.?
Have you seen black smearing when white text on black background dissapears when scrolling page up/down (white text on black/dark background)? Wonna get this monitor but I can't find the answer anywhere
dumb question but do you prefer to use G-Sync compatibility or the Asus features?
I don’t notice a big difference between g sync on or off but I have an rtx 3080 so it’ll be pretty smooth in general.
is this monitor good for sim racing?
Yup 👍🏻
looks like might be a monitor to upgrade my OG daddy of 3440x1440 VA panels, the first ever VA panel released in this format, the Samsung S34E790C that I own since 2015 (the 3rd ever produced 3440x1440, the first 2 being IPS panels from LG with terrrible backligh bleed)
I was thinking of getting the 3840x1600 38" but tested one for a week and it's a bit too big and have to move my head to look corner to corner so will probably just get a new 34"
not that I really need one, but planning to upgrade my GPU and could use the extra refresh rate, probably better colors and better SW features being newer ;o]
$200 a good deal or over priced in 2023?
Yes 👍🏻
what are your favourite personal monitors?
My Acer I reviewed on the channel has been my staple this whole time. G7 outside of the flickering was a good monitor. This one for the ultrawides has been good.
how does this compare to the Asus TUF VG34VQL3A as I just purchased the VQL3A from Best Buy here in Canada for $380 CDN. Did i make the right choice ??

How does this compare to the MSI Artymis 343CQR ? The MSI is a new one and it has extremely similar specs.
Extremely similar specs like you said. The MSI has a 1000R curve though with a 200+ dollar higher price tag. I’d go with the TUF and save money unless you really want the 1000R curve.

Thanks!
Is this compatible with macbook pro? I'm thinking about getting this for work and some gaming.
