      Is the Hw 95 powerful enough for 22 cal or should I go with 177 Weihrauch Hw95 DEluxe? Which is the best edition of that rifle? I want to get the best break barel (max 400euro) I would like 22 better for hunting but this doesn't sound as powerful as Gamo,which I had seen are super rifles on 22 cal. I would really appriciate any help. Thanks in advance

I don't shoot much but needed a cheap gun to play with anytime I want and it does it. I used to be big into my guns but soon as I did cattys so decided the HW would do me. Lloyd, I have a short stroked (Tinbum) with a VMach kit HW80 from 1983 with a whisperer silencer and can say with honesty that these old silencers do work- and very well. One strange thing is that if the silencer is unscrewed leaving on the adapter and then fired the rifle will sound a very loud crack. Remove the adapter and the crack on discharge disappears.
    I do agree that HW silencers are probably the very best and will mute the crack on a pcp to a quiet phut!

      mick Hunt: I'd love to have a go of the Defiant too as I love bullpups for their compact size and great handling. Only thing that puts me off the Defiant so far is its reg's set to 110BAR, whereas the near-identical-shaped & same price FX Wildcat's is set to 65BAR, which will give you more shots per charge.

      They have the BSA Defiant in up " Brierley Guns " I dont normally like the full on bullpup style , but handling this particular one ( grey laminate ) was really really nice , got a bit of weight too it ( laminate stocks do ) felt good too shoulder , and looks ( although a matter of taste ) are very nice , I asked the price , and they do them £100+ cheaper then general retail ..as with the brocock bantam sniper HR which WITH the carbon buddy bottle was well over £100 cheaper ( think I paid £795 ) ..its no review ...but its the best I could muster ... ENJOY choosing ..

    • @mickhunt3203
      @mickhunt3203 6 років тому

      Cheers mark I really like the look of the grey laminate but I want it for hunting and would be scared of scratching it so It would have to be the soft touch for me.torn between the BSA and the FX for the price but I am a BSA man I love all my other BSA rifles from my MK1 meteor and Mk6 air sporter springers and my ultra se and scorpion so I think it'll have to be the defiant

      Mick , ive heard ( I think it was in one of the " hot air " episodes ) that the soft touch damages easily , but I guess you've already sussed all the ins and outs ... BSA man meself , got a 1974 mercury me old man bought me ( in 1974 ) used it for hunting way back then , more of a target guy now though , also have in my collection BSA R10 .22 in walnut ( damn pity its in a R/H stock , but I bought it off me son too fund a new shotgun ) and im a "leftie" ..got a R10 in .177 ( leaf tree camo ) and a goldstar se .177 .. so you could guess im a BSA guy anawl ... although I have other makes ..

    Also keep in mind the composition of air rifle moderators vs. Firearms suppressors. The moderators are of (thermo)plastic composition (at least the ones I've seen are), while the suppressors are ALL made of steel, titanium, aluminum alloy, etc.
    If you interchange the "plastic" ones to a firearm, especially one with really serious gas pressures, such as, say, a .22-250 on up, you're going to witness a stupendous explosion at the end of your barrel once you "drop the hammer", as it were. Those gasses are waaay too powerful for plastic to contain and you'll see all kinds of deconstruction happen.
    Safest thing is not to ever get into the idea of interchangement. And also remember the exorbitant cost of firearms suppressors as well vs. well built air arm moderators.
    One suppressor can easily pay for a VERY good air arm (with ALL the "trimmings"). I'm talkin' about one capable of 300++ yds/meters high velocity, serious ft./lbs. energy, pinpoint precision accuracy, etc. vs. moderator costs at < £200-£300 at best which are quieter than suppressors, easily.

    • @James28R
      @James28R 2 роки тому

      what the fuck are you talking about? noone is going to use an airgun mod on a firearm. and forget 22-250 or up, more like any centrefire and up. Also, newsflash moderator and suppressor is the same thing. mine (308, 223) cost between 350-400. hardly enough for a VERY good air arm with all the 'trimmings'

    i still have my hw 95k from around 1990 it has a barrel weight on the end that resembles a small silencer and i have to say my rifle isnt any louder than the ones with a silencer on, its a keeper for sure and very light and reliable. one thing that does annoy me a little is when rifles are refered to as full power when in fact they are sent out around 10ftlbs and usually if the buyer wanted 11 ftlbs have extra messing around to get the power up to 11ftlbs..if they are being described as full power then they should be at least 11.

    • @hotair4269
      @hotair4269  6 років тому +3

      I remember the older version with the muzzle weight . Side by side you could tell a small difference but from in front ( Safely) it's a lot more noticeable. Hw95's are coming in at about 11-11.25 at the moment but yes I agree, Under 11 is poor quality control.

    Finally got a 95K .20... Tinbum short stroke, guide and top hat (Why don't Weihrauch put a top hat in there!?) and popped a plug spanner full of lead in the moderator, just 300g to mitigate the muzzle flip. Think I'm done tinkering but will know after a day out tomorrow. It shot nicely out of the box but was twangy as a farm gate and the Tinbum kit has completely cured that, and reduced the recoil. Half the price of the v-mach...

    Cant really see how you can say the 95 REPLACED the 80 as the hunters choice of break barrel unless you want a lighter sub 12 rifle because you live in the draconian, overly oppressive nazi state of the UK (as i am), as if power limits were no issue the 80 with its 30mm piston and long stroke can easily put out 19ft.lbs+ and a fair bit more with a little bit of trial and error fettling i.e, gliding, transfer port mods etc... the 95s an excellent, lightweight hunting rifle but (in my opinion) not a REPLACEMENT for an 80. Both have there place. Great channel by the way lads look forward to the next video

    • @RevolutionIsTheOnlySolution

      Also its nice too hear AA are taking more interest in dealer and customer opinions even though there customer service is generally excellent already.. perhaps Daystate could take a leaf out of there book as recently they seem to have lost there way with there extortionate overpricing of rifles coupled with diabolical customer service.

    • @hotair4269
      @hotair4269  6 років тому +2

      Replaced as in the Hw95 sells about 10-15 times the number of Hw80's and for our 12ft lb law there is simply no reason to buy an 80 . Of course , and as you say , the Hw80 can go much higher in power but then would you not just go for a PCP with 30ft/lb + ? So for the Uk I will say yes, the 95 has replaced the 80 as the hunters choice :)

    I think you can still buy the 85. I think originally the 95 was introduced as a lighter weight option to the 35(but i may be wrong) the 85 i believe was a light weight alternative to the 80 round about mid 80s. Spoilt for choice really i wouldn't change my 1982 hw80mk1 for anything.

    • @msakel100
      @msakel100 4 роки тому

      I'm not sure about that, look at the chickpeaces of this rifles. HW95 is made to be scoped, can't imagine shooting it with iron sights. HW35,80 and 85 all have lower chickpeaces so are comfortable to shoot with irons. People tend to forget about this aspect and also stock bottoms.. I think HW95 is modern hunter version of HW80, let's not forget they made 80 for American market where shooters didn't seem to understand springers work most precise with up to 9fpe or so.
      I bought myself new HW85 and couldn't be happier, shoots like a dream out of the box and is still getting better after 1000 shots in 3 months. Wish it had a bit more squared stock bottom but othwervise it is a great airgun for open sights. Oh, Luxus stock for scope shooting are pretty cheap so it is like 2-3 rifles in one. Love this gun.

    Beautiful gun. I really hate the automatic safety. It is always in the way and you can't reset it - unlike a manual safety which is useful. +1 on swivel studs being standard. The comments on how it compares to the other rifles in the range is really interesting. Any chance you could record the hw95k with and without the silencer and a db meter? Does the gun come with the silencer? I don't even see the hw95k on the Weihrauch's site, or any guns with a threaded end other than possible the 35 E (and the PCPs). I wish they would make the guns available in walnut. They will last a life time, and why not have a beautiful stock to enjoy that with.
