- Tutorial on how to make custom tire decals that last very long time.
Material:
go to ebay and type: "Rubber Sheet White gasket" and it'll come up
Font:
Frutiger LT Com 95 UltraBlack
Software:
Adobe Illustrator
Cleaning:
use rubbing alcohol and a towel of some sort
UPDATE:
I recommend using rubber glue instead

Should wear nitrile gloves to prevent natural oil on your fingers from contaminating the rubber before you glue it, they wont last long
It looks amazing, but manually cut out a total of 64 letters and all applying them one by one is a bit too rich for me. I'd happily slap some money on the counter for this

I think he used a ratio then printed according to sticker paper size. If you noticed they turned out bigger than expected.

Can't seem to find that white rubber... did you special order from somewhere ? Thanks for the info and great looking job. The last tire letters I ordered from China didnn't last. They cracked in a few weeks. I'm thinking that using the right material might make them last a wee bit longer. Gotta love that race car look.

do you think it would work with EVA foam sheets??? Eva foam comes in a ton of different colors and can be laser cut...

yes! it gets deep in the rubber and you can't take it off even with rubbing alcohol

That's awesome, but what's the durability, I mean you no once super glue gets wett for so long it dries up,so I'm sure the letters will fall off,especially with a pressure washer

Great question. You could calculate that using your design in Adobe Illustrator. You could also use software called Texture Packer to arrange your letters as efficiently as possible on each sheet to reduce waste. It all depends on what you're trying to write.

I bought a pack of 3 sheets and I only did it for rear tires, 2 words each, 4 total and I think I used about 2 sheets. But I didn't use them very efficiently.

B4 u throw a bad comments u need to try it first yourself I have the same thing same materials everything I never have a problem on mine can’t complain just $15 for everything only thing u need is cutter,tape,rubber sheets,superglue when cutting the letters u need to have patience and is not coming off easily I try to put one letter and I try to take them off I can’t even remove it and plus your talking also the tires of course tire is always get dirty so that is normal that’s why people always put a tire shine if u want to see my channel what’s it thanks to this guy tengotengobmw

@Shawnda Chabot bought some rubber sheets from amazon and put a layer of reflective colored vinyl on them.. used my vinyl cutter to cut out the letters

@@AdamPlays414 just measure your tire or you can make a template out of masking tape and trial and error cut a curve. what are you trying to make exactly? I might be able to send you a template.

You need to download the font from the internet. Just type it's name in Google

The rubber you're using for this, I keep finding white 'nitrile' rubber but it always seem more off-white than just pure white. How white is it actually?
yeah, it's not perfectly white, it's yellow-ish, but on black tires it'll look white alright

Can I get a cricket machine and make the stickers?
I've done this with actual rubber & the strongest glue out there but, the lettering fell off after 2 weeks. Letters were cutting off or flying off from the tire flexing on small potholes & harsh road conditions. It's great for a day or two but not permanent.
Jovanny Sanchez what glue did you use? I’m going to use contact cement. Did the glue you use leave a nasty residue on your tire?
Jeffrey Mac yes it did. I recently bought a legit tire lettering pair & it did the same thing. Either I suck at installing them or my fenders are destroying them.
You can buy fleximent glue separate on the web. Thats the glue that all the expensive kits come with.
wouldn't regular patch tire cement work? the key is gluing to clean rubber. tire guys buff the rubber clean for patch to stick

great video, probably going to save us $100 for this DIY :), mind if I ask how's the stickers holding up and how do you keep them clean?
They hold up pretty well, rubber gets a little chapped over time, and you should also use a rubber glue instead of super glue.
Cleaning with a rubbing alcohol is super cheap and easy solution.
I haven't figured out how to prevent them from chapping. Probably gonna try soaking it with some oil or gasoline to make them softer and prevent from drying

No, I tried, comes off easily since it needs to flex with the tire and vinyl is not as flexible, especially when cold.

You are absolutely welcome! I enjoy making videos and comments like that motivate me even more. They can last maybe 6 months if maintained properly and if you use rubber glue instead of super glue. And check them once in a while and add glue if necessary if it comes off a little

Conventional super glues won't work. The letters WILL fall of over time.
How do you get the measurements for the tire and how do I know how do plug them please help?

about the measurements, try putting a masking tape on the tire, then take it off, put of a flat surface and you'll have your curve. Now measure the radius and use that value in the software when you're making the curve
did you just take a picture of the masking tape and just measure height and length then make that in the file? I made templates for my tail lights by using paper and then sliding a pencil around the edge.

Or you can put a masking tape where the decals should be all around the tire, then take it off, cut so it lays flat and measure the diameter

How did you make the round template over the cyrcle in photoshop
write the text on a curve (don't remember how it's called) and then adjust the curvature manually to match the circle.
Make a circle using the shape tool, hold "shift" to make it a perfect circle.
Then click on the text tool and click on the edge of the circle you created.

Way I did it on photoshop was get the measurement of the tyre the same way he did my grabbing the
circle tool - right click cause it will be rectangle tool as default.
Click An drag it out but hold shift as said above^ An you will see it’s size.
Then grab the T (type tool) click anywhere on the page don’t make a text box! An reduce the PT (size) to like 14-20 to make adjustments easy at first.
When you have your word types hover he curser Over the end of the word an highlight it.
Go to the top banner DON’T PRESS TILL I SAY THIS IS A GUIDE! An you will see the three icons saying
“left align text” and. “centre align” ect ect.
next will be the colour swatch (same as the circles colour of not sure) press the next icon to the right that has a T with a curve underneath (or sad face mouth 😂)
Click that, it will have a pop up saying
Style: none (default)
Click on none An then select arc.
From here you will notice the word imminently curve, from here you have three adjustments to muck around with to perfect the curve,

I used to think this but I tried to make my own & was unsuccessful. The tire lettering is expensive but there's a lot of things that go in the process. Cuts are precise, protective film over the letters, specially made glue & 100% guarantee that it works. You get what you paid for is the quote for this.

Black silicone gasket sealant should work. If its strong enough for your water pump than its obviously heat and water resistant.
