    What was the weirdest thing you found in a car that you just bought?

      Just the normal stuff........3 lbs of loose gas station tobacco leaf, unopened condoms, bottle caps, and coins.
      I did buy some JDM sun visors for my old Subaru and a ticket stub for Japanese parking garage fell out when I opened the flap for the mirror.

      2003 Montero : Smoker's car, so ash, Ash & more ASH! Just over $20 change just in driver's floor alone. There was a factory floor mat there too, one just couldn't initially tell until it was chiseled free. Just over $50 in change in rest of vehicle. And they say, much much more.
      1991 Capri XR2: trunk was full of stolen car parts, random items, under garments, topper was a wonderfully smelling vase that was used as chamber pot. How? Why? Your guess...

    I think the previous owner was an audiophile of sorts (and crazy too), those don’t look like washers, they look like ferrites. Probably used them and all the aluminum foil to protect the audio signal from the Radio Frequency interference caused by all the other wiring mods.

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad  Рік тому +4

      Good call, you're right they're probably ferrites. I guess all of this insulation was necessary for the audio considering how much equipment was installed!

    Holy crap I have never seen wiring like that. Kind of amazing. Must have been a show car at some point. The fat washers on the wires were ferrite beads meant to suppress noise. All the magnets may have been for some kind of EMI suppression as well, but no idea how that works. The snake in the gas tank was likely there to dull reverberations so the gas tank didn't cause booming sound. The car was clearly set up for big time sound at some point. Seems like it may have been a former sex spec car in general. No idea about the bead motif though. Overall it seems like it's in good shape and it looks awesome. Hope you got a good deal!

    Very cool car. Love the color. Never found anything too crazy in any of my cars (including my current daily driver which was a police car). The custom intake on yours sort of reminds me of when I pulled out the stock airbox in one of my old cars and put together a custom fenderwell intake.

    all those magnet and magnet type things that were around the wiring were ferrite. The car may have had an electrical bug (possibly from the miles of extra loom and random electronics) and was trying to reduce interference or cross talk. Most likely he had a bad ground or switching ground. A friend of mine tried to put a 1jz into an IS300 and gave up because of random electrical cross-talk that never sorted itself out.

    The "washers" on the wire are toroids. They are used to filter electric noise. In this case it's just unessential.

    I’ve seen the magnets on a few JDM cars I looked at purchasing before, the dealership told me Japanese tuners really believe in the power of magnetic “ionization”. It’s truly a gimmick.
