Ryu sees the warp world 6 pipe: "No! Noooooooooooooo! I don't have a choice, they don't have a death... thing." Me looking at the timer: Yeah, you have a choice
@ryukahr: The reason for princess peach not showing up in 8-4, was because your using a pirated copy, the non-legit copy of the game, you would have to play it either on the Japanese disk system, or on the Nintendo switch NES app for the legit version to prevent the crash at 8-4 ending, this his why even if you would have beat all the level without skiping one, on the pirated copy you will not have world 9 because it crash on the ending. Unfortunatley you will never be able to unlocked world A through D on the pirated copy of the game since it need the title screen to have stars, and since they are no title screen when you beat 8-4 it was trying to put a star on the title screen and because they was no title screen it crash the ending.
You get to play world 9 if you do that. In order to play worlds A to D you have to beat the game without warping 8 times, and then you can select to play A to D from the start menu.
@@amuzulo I had to Google this but apparently not. Supposedly Lost Levels was never released on cartridge (just FDS), but I believe that there may be game genie hacks for the Rom.
7:08 in SMB1 and some others like SMB2, the collision doesn't actually check position, instead it just checks if you were moving down to decide whether you die or the enemy does. Since you were moving down, even though the paratroopa hits you from above, the game thinks you jumped on top of it since you were moving downward. That's how that works.
D that's because he was forced to as he was soft locked. There was literally no way out of that situation except timer or restarting the console. Because there was an option the other time, he forgot he could wait two minutes and die.

Lost World Guide: The way continues work is that you get infinite of them, you just have to start on the first level of the world. Example: If you game over on level 4-3, you go back to level 4-1. If you game over on 7-2, you go back to 7-1. Also, on level 7-3, next time you use those springs, look at your HUD display where it shows how many coins you have. That's about where Mario comes down from off-screen if you're not holding forward. Lastly, a good trick for this game particularly is collecting coins and dodging enemies. A lot of people feel you need to genocide every enemy, but in this game it's better to dodge most enemies and move on. They call him jumpman for a reason haha And coins are how you get 1-ups. Check all pipes for secret areas with coins and such. Some even have powerups! P.S. - Lakitu's hitbox in this game is actually Lakitu, NOT the cloud portion. P..S. - On the cheep-cheep levels, it's best to speedrun them to stay ahead of the fishies! Oh, and never turn around or the fish will come from the right side of the screen and that angle usually will damage or kill Mario. Just keep running! This goes for hammer bros too. Run and jump over them BEFORE they throw their first hammer at you. P.S.S.S.? - Any time you collect a powerup, it stops your momentum. That's why on 7-4 you kept taking damage. You have to be quick and jump onto the block as the powerup is spawning or let it come to you.
An additional tip: When collecting coins, make sure to end every level with a multiple of 11. You will get a 1-up if you grab the flagpole when the final digit of the timer matches the multiple of 11 coins that you have. E.g. if the timer is 245 and you have 55 coins, you get 1-up. Note that zero counts as a multiple. Zero coins and zero final digit (for instance 260) will give 1-up.

Yes, you can continue forever. Miyamoto decided it was fair compensation for the game being much more difficult. However, in this original version, Continue takes you back to the beginning of the current world. This Continue system was made even more lenient in the All-Star pack for SNES, where the save system on Lost Levels saved progress for each individual level. For the other games on the all-star pack, progress was saved by world.
I’m legit surprised how many hidden troll blocks Ryukahr missed. There a lot of hidden blocks in the worst possible places. Not just in world 8. SMB The Lost Levels actually known as Super Mario Bros 2 in Japan. Our SMB2 is different than their SMB2. The first time anyone outside Japan player it on their region’s console version was via the Wii Shop (released in US, Canada and two other countries).
I'm glad this wasn't Super Mario Bros 2. It's Mario Bros 1, harder edition, rather than a new game. As outre as Mario Bros 2 was, it was a genuinely new and different experience.
Is kind fun to se that in Mario lost level the mushroom and flowerpower is your best friend in entire game xD it can give you lot of trouble if you don't get them hehe. Btw i love those old mario games ^^.
Level 8-4, Ryukahr said that he tried both paths and the very end except that the only difference was that after the moving platform, he ran across instead of jumping across.
@ryukahr: When you accidentally found Warp zone to world 6 and you did not wanted you could have just waited for the timer to go to 0, specially when they was only 99 seconds left on the timer. Since you never cleared 5-4 that mean no world 9, their his a solution but this will extend the game, at 8-1 you can used the warp to world 5, to be 5-4 again, but you will have to play world 6, 7, again. That his the only way to get world 9 at this point. It may not work because your not playing the official copy your playing a pirated copy, because I cringe everytime I see green pirana plant in strait up pipe since world 4.
ryukahr, there are some mechanics here you don't seem to be aware of, so here they are. 1) I'm pretty sure the plants have no hitbox on the way back down into the pipe. 2) You cannot be hit while travelling downwards or hitting the top of a bounce-off-able enemy's hitbox; instead, you bounce off and hit them. 3) Beating the game without warps allows you access to the true ending. 4) Beating a level with the same number in both coin slots and the last digit in the timer gives you a 1-up. I hope this helps.

8-2 was genius. very good idea for one of the final levels... and it's SOO very old...
22:48 must be the ancestor of SMM2 night castles.
@ryukahr According to wikipedia: "A hidden World 9 is accessible if the player does not use a warp zone. Bonus worlds A through D are accessible when the player plays through the game eight times, for a total of 52 levels."
3:19 WHY did you do that?!!???…………
The kid in Toy Story 3: 3:27
6:48 JUMP you fool!!
8:37 You mean blows hahaha funny : P
9:51[looks at coin count] Whadda you mean, you just got one!……
…bowser's just standing there laughing at you…
17:51 Oh, it's fall!
Super Mario bros.: The Lost Title
I remember beating this when I was 12 on All Stars. I felt so accomplished afterwards! lol
Yeah I gave up and came back to this game so many times as a little kid. The All Stars version is way better, he should have played that instead
Skeets McGrew I mean, they're both good games. It's interesting to see the original too after having played All Stars so much!
looks like Toad is giving us the fingers at 8:09 lmfao
I'm glad this wasn't Super Mario Bros 2. It's Mario Bros 1, harder edition, rather than a new game. As outre as Mario Bros 2 was, it was a genuinely new and different experience.
Is kind fun to se that in Mario lost level the mushroom and flowerpower is your best friend in entire game xD it can give you lot of trouble if you don't get them hehe.
Btw i love those old mario games ^^.
Level 8-4, Ryukahr said that he tried both paths and the very end except that the only difference was that after the moving platform, he ran across instead of jumping across.
25:58 - this is exactly what would happen when your sibling or friend accidentally hits the NES back in the day, ..😧😱🤬
Me: "OMG I CLEARED THE SUPER EXPERT LEVEL THATS MY FIRST ONE"
Rykahr "This is getting hard", clutches literally everything
Over the top soft lock xD... Needed.bullet for my valentines scream aim fire chorus as ya jumped up there lol OVER THE TOP OVER THE TOP =D
ryukahr, there are some mechanics here you don't seem to be aware of, so here they are.
Nintendo: Lets you discover a secret warp zone if you go over the level in Super Mario Bros.
Also Nintendo: Try it again. I dare you.
So proud to have witnessed Mario's FIRST SOFTLOCK.!
Has anyone but me considered how much of a psychopath serial killer Mario is because each time he finds Bowser he dumps him into a pit of lava and sits there and watches
17:10 you did it again. I told you about it on part 1. SMB1 hitbox shell jumps.
Could have just waited 2 minutes to time out.
He also calls this game hard, yet I see him speedrun the entire game. Yeah, if you don't take any caution in any game it'll be hard...
@@Shredder91 mario 1 is not the same as the lost levels :l
@@Jornker Ok, but that is not what I'm saying. Lost Levels might be harder than mario 1 but the way he plays makes me think he just makes it hard on himself.
@@Shredder91 fair enough, you should try playing it yourself though lol
@@Jornker idk what that has to do with it, but will you buy it for me?
Would like to see Ryukahr playing "Super Mario Brothers Frustration" rom hack levels
