Would watch the whole series. Beat this thing for 10 yr old me that couldn't.
Ten y/o me and eleven y/o my neighbor couldn't even get close to level 455 or however ridiculously high they go either.
@@Team_BaM There are 48, I believe. Think the furthest kid me ever got was around 40
Has to be one of the hardest game of all times
48 levels and has some bonus levels
Same here
When my brother beat this game, he was so stressed by the end that he literally went out to the hammock and just laid there for the rest of the day.
P.S. some tips and tricks for you ryu;
1. Bazookas can break walls or doors if you have no key. Most valuable item in the game for progress
2. Use monster potions only against chainsaw dudes, snakoids, vampires, and bosses. Rack that stuff up.
3. OPEN EVERYTHING! You never know what a kitchen cabinet might have in there for you. But use the cross item for a second as you do, so you dont take damage from the monster that pops out sometimes.
4. You need to beat this game starting at the beginning. Using a password resets ALL your items and lives, and you might be starting with less people to save.
4. Save people as fast as possible, you can always scavenge the level after your door opens. Tourists turn into werewolves if it gets dark...
5. Some enemies are more susceptible to certain weapons. I'll leave it to you to figure that out 😂
I'll add one:
6. When in doubt, use the GPS screen to find out where people are.
great contribution. Don't forget to mention the exclusive flame thrower that only appears in level.... ??? (as a hidden secret weapon)
Couple of more tips for ya.. when someone you are supposed to save dies it removes one victim from every other level after that.. try focusing on getting them all. Or you will end up running out of people to save. Also don't let the last one die or you lose. Keys work from one level to the next as well.
@@KevinVideo I couldn't believe he had no idea there was a gps screen in the game rofl, would've saved him so much time/ammo/health.
@@drlight6677 he saw it, he just didn't realize it showed the people to save
"It's hard to find the last one"
Darn, if only there was some kind of map you could put up with the push of a button.
I kept telling my phone, "use the map!!!!" Like screaming it at him lol
It really is so infuriating to watch people play these old games who don't know how to play
Gotta add that 1:52 quote to my pickup lines repertoire for cheerleaders:
"Yo wassup, get into my pockets, yo."
Ryu: "I don't know what the fuss is about."
Me: patiently waiting for level 4 like 😬
Fuss
@@junghunt8645 Yikes. Thanks for the heads up.
You weren't alone in that 😂
hahaha! Lavel 4 used to stress me out so much as a kid!
Same bro, same. Lol
The nostalgia, it’s to much. This game gave me nightmares when I was a kid. 😂 The music is perfect. Great pick!!! 👌🏻
Hands-down this is my favorite SNES game. It's a nightmare survival roguelike, and I love it.
Nothing ever seems unfair, though. Every enemy has a weakness, and the early stages let you stock up on items and lives so that you can survive the gauntlet that is the last 12 stages.
I've only finished it twice from start to end.
The passwords are a trap. It's easier to start from stage 1 than to continue from stage 36.
@@SeppelSquirrel I never finished. Played this non stop as a kid with my cousin. Really takes me back and an absolute gem for SNES.
@@papabilby8855 It's not an easy feat. Definitely takes a lot of practice and strategic camera positioning so certain neighbors don't get killed.
I'm glad you had fun with it too!
Fun fact: In the UK, the game is just called Zombies! Because eating neighbors, despite being an accurate title, was just too much for the UK.
@@SeppelSquirrel Well it gave me nightmares so they may have been right! 😂 Or I am just soft. Haha
@@papabilby8855 It's okay. Other weird things have given me nightmares. Skeletor, tiny ants, and connect-the-dot puzzles were my biggest fears growing up.
Oddly enough the giant ants from ZAMN didn't scare me. My fear was specifically a bunch of tiny dots crawling on me and eating me bit by bit.
Skeletor was a talking skeleton. The spooky scary skeletons from that one Mickey Mouse B&W cartoon freaked me out, too.
And connect-the-dot puzzles were a whole other realm of terror. Imagine the unknowable hiding innocently on a page, and bring given the instructions on how to summon whatever it could be. As a kid just learning numbers, I lost count plenty of times and created some hideous abominations.
It got to the point where I was terrified what horror I would conjure if I did another one. I secretly threw away any connect-the-dot puzzle book I was given.
They still disturb me, to a point.
Zombies Ate my Neighbors was always a favorite of mine. Takes me back to the good ol’ days of renting games on the weekends. Would love to see you come back to this one sometime! Great video!
I remember this game only for the sake of my childhood, good luck :) P.S .: Use the bazooka for the cracks on walls for a "breakthrough"
9:09 Crafty game design here.. Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 used it as well.. See how the chainsaw guy moved up at the exact same time Ryu did.. The enemies are programmed to respond to your inputs not what your character does... gives you almost zero chance of doing well as the computer makes the opposing decision or 'virtual button press' the instant you
do..
"Found a secret trove of cheerleaders."
Giggity.
Just a few tips for Ryu or anyone else who hasn't played before.
The bazooka can be used to blast open walls and hedges (anything that the chainsaw guys can cut).
It is usually good to search cupboards and garbage cans throughout the levels as they have random items.
You start the game with 10 people to save (victims) and any people dying means there will be that fewer people in the later levels. You can get victims back by killing the baby boss and from either points or every certain number of stages.
Sometimes on night stages the tourist couple will turn into werewolves. This costs a victim to save so you have to be aware of it.
Punching treasure chests as a monster will destroy the items inside. Always use a key for those to get items.
I hope to high heaven Ryu keeps playing and gets to the snakeoid level. Level 20 always kicked my butt.
My favorite game of all time. My brother and I used to play this as kids for hours and hours on end. Never was able to beat the last boss.
Classic game. Loved playing this as a kid. Please finish this.
I am impressed that he got past the giant baby on his first try. I remember getting wrecked by the baby as a kid. It took me forever to figure out how to beat him as a kid. This game still low key scares me.
it was painful to see him ignore the progress passwords on the stage screens... thank goodness they are recorded on the video for when he wants to go back
I mean he probably saw/knows, he's just wondering if he can continue where left of with his ammo/hp/lives. Probably not though
That and him seeming to not notice the life count between stages. I'm like, how can you be such a good gamer yet so unobservant? But it's also probably easier as a spectator to see that stuff because we're not distracted by actually playing the game.
@@cheesefania True, but there isn't much to look for during loading screens.
Password screen is also a bit useless. You start with just your basic squirt gun and whatever number of neighbors you had left off on. It's necessary to play this game start to finish pretty much.
@@joshuaharris2245Exactly, the last 4 levels are really hard by using the passcode.
Best game ever. My favorite as a kid. It probably took me a month just to get past the chainsaw hedge maze. I totally didn't understand how it work. I would just use? Potions and pray that I transformed into the monster so I can bust through the walls
I would totally watch a series of this. The game is unique in that it has lots of different types of levels, enemies, bosses, and items. Never gets too terribly dull. Also, you can play co-op with a friend.
So many hours spent on this with my brother and friends. Such a good game. Man did it feel like an epic accomplishment taking down that baby lol.
A big childhood favorite, never saw the end. You can do it Ryu!
Use the passwords to resume where you left off
passwords suck as you lose all the items
He's gonna get blown back with passwords
If you wanna get to level 50 you need to start from the beggining
Best to use save states. if playing on a real snes can save state too with an everdrive
its better to start over when you lose all the 1-ups
#1 rule is never use passwords
That granny was showing an F to pay respects for the dead
It’s actually a School Teacher not a granny!
Ryu, dont let anyone die. If you do, the amount of people to save gets lower and makes the game so much harder!
love this game. you have to beat it in one go though. if you game over and have to continue late game you lose all your weapons and are stuck fighting almost invincible enemies with the squirt gun.
i think the difficulty of this game comes from our inability to live with ourselves after *A DUDE KILLS A BABY WITH A FRICKING CHAINSAW!!!*
This was literally the holy grail of my childhood and probably all other kids born in the 80s like me. It's one of those "if you know, you know" type games where the few people who have played it will all agree that its the best game of that era
Ahh! Who else remembers playing this as a kid?! Awesome choice Ryukahr
There’s a sequel to this game called Ghoul Patrol on the snes. Just as unforgiving :(
Yes, had both and I think I found Ghoul Patrol harder as a kid at least. You also just made me realize this was by LucasArts which thinking to their other games in this era makes a lot of sense with the characters and writing I think. They did a nice job capturing the camp and humor of old horror movies.
YES! One of my childhood favorites! I'm so glad Ryu finally took this in as a suggestion! Please play more!
I absolutely love and miss this game. After level 47....it’s all over for me. Love this series. I am hoping Hexen 64 is on this list.
YESSS! So glad you did another one of these. This is what brought me to your channel in the first place.
This game is legend.
This game was such a good part of my early gaming life. Loved playing this with my bro.
There was a ski cabin in canada that had this in the room and was amazing to play all the time when we were resting.
Me too, this is an amazing game and I used to play it all day with my brothers. I still have it with my SNES, but now is very difficult to play due work and all of my brothers are married with children. Such a nostalgia hit with this one.
Same, me and my little sister played it in between smw and all stars.
ZOMBIEEEES!!!!! yeah the game I was waiting for! after 20+ years will this be the moment that I'll watch the end of this game?
Ryu: NOT TODAY!
@@EndingTimes0 so sad :(
I tried to beat this game with a friend, it was awesome! The only problem is that the password is kind useless, I think you need to beat in one go or you're screwed, cause the password let you go straight to a specific level but without any item, so you're basically in later levels only with the "water gun".
the only password level that i was able to go up from there without problem was lvl 29, higher than that its pure torture to use the passwords, also this is only able if someone is able to save every red and "?" potion until spider boss, otherwise its better to beat in one go and find flame thrower for the spider
Man, Ryu. I’m loving seeing you play this, and I’d love to see you try to beat it. I think a lot of folks just want to see the levels they never made it to.
Thank you for playing this game because me and one of my oldest friends used to play this when we were 5 years old and never beat it. It was a blessing to see this game again on your channel lol so much nostalgia for me
This is one of my favorite games of all time. It's so good to see Ryu playing this masterpiece!
This game scared the crap out of me when i was a little kid, this game is no joke
Thank you for the nostalgia
This was one of my favorite games when I was younger. So happy to see you playing it, definitely worth playing through the whole game. Don't let Big Baby be the last that we see you play of this game
This game definitely looks weird but fun at the same time! Have you tried Earthworm Jim yet? Now that's a hard game to play
@Ryan Crump have you never heard of the impossible level in Earthworm Jim?
Oh yeah, there is such a thing called that
I never thought I would see a baby get murdered in a ryukahr video
Now that I see it... this game was pretty dark.
I thought were you were talking about the baby boss at first.
But as I was finishing your comment, I suddenly hear "NO, THE BABY, THE BABY!"
well it was not a baby it was two babies!
14 episodes of me leaving this as a comment :) I know Ryu gets a lot of fan suggestions, and doesn't know me very well, but ActRaiser 2 is one of the single most satisfyingly difficult games that exists. Think of it like a megaman choose your stage goldenaxe/castlevania esque game with "okay" platforming that can be a bit dooky at times, but adds to the challenge without feeling problematic. It also has pretty great sound, and wonderful enemy design.
I know for a fact you'd really dig it Ryukahr, because the rest of your games scream "I like rewarding challenge"
2:25 "looking for a key door, maybe ?"
Lol you know mario maker has tainted him. I assume he meant locked door.
That one stage with Giant-Milk-Spitting-Crawling-Baby-On-Yard gave me some trauma.
Better than the earlier bonus stage of Giant-Milk-Spitting-Crawling-Baby-On-Mall.
You've done it now Ryu. I want to see you conquer this game either here or on twitch. My childhood nemesis must be defeated!
Not using the compas and asking where the neighbours are hurt my soul :D
Great game, god super hard pretty quick. Still had to play it since it has one of the best soundtracks on the SNES.
You have to do more of this.
Loved this game as a kid, 4 things you should know:
1) the little dots in the map show you were the neighbors are
2) you start with 10 neighbors at level 1, if you don't save them all you start losing them down the road, so the levels get even more difficult if you have only one neighbor to rescue and gets killed by a monster, then it's game over
3) the bazooka opens cracked walls or grass walls, even wood doors, give it a try and save keys for chest or other doors
4) each level gives you a certain ammo, that means that is the preferred one to use for the monsters in that level
Dude, I love this game! I would love to see more episodes. But what you should definitely know before playing again:
- The number of neighbours to rescue stays the same for the whole game. So you start with 10 (I think) neighbours and if you let one die in the first level, you can only rescue 9 neighbours in level 2. The more neighbours there are, the better chances you have to rescue them before the monsters get them.
- After every level you get the screen that shows how many neighbours you saved. Top left shows you how many lives you got.
- If you can't find the neighbours, use the map. It's more of a radar, really. Yellow dots are your targets.
- Try different weapons on different enemies. Most monsters have their own weaknesses, like the weird space funghi that you can clear with the lawn mower.
Oh, and you can use the bazooka to blow up certain walls or locked doors. Watch out for cracks in the walls or glass in the malls.
RYU - Looks at map once
ALSO RYU - "Where am I?" "Where's the last person?" "It's so easy to get lost!"
This game is my childhood! I'd love to see more!
This is actually probably my favorite of your video series. Keep em coming man
Good to see this series back been missing it.
The game is hard because it has many levels - if you use a password to continue from a later set of levels, you loose all of your equipment. Also the number of rescueable victims doesn' t increase once they' re dead. If you are unlucky you are stuck with one victim, which of course gets killed very fast in later levels.
One of the best Super Nintendo games i have ever played. More fun with a friend! There is no safe game but after every stage you get a password.
love this game. brings me back to the mid 90s
Such an amazing game. Played this thing for hours when I was a kid. Good choice.
I'd love more of this. This game has super hard difficulty coupled with that comedic Lucasarts charm.
My brother and I played this as kids. Thanks for the memory sparks. So hard, I don't remember it being any fun without playing co-op with him by my side
this music brings back some great memories. the nostalgia. thank you Ryu, I hope they release it on the switch soon.
Okay Ryu, I grew up with and beat this game (on original hardware). Let me advise you about some things.
I can go all into the nitty gritty, but my best advice is to stack up on the big guns, you will need them for later. Stuff like Bazookas, Pandora's Boxes, Monster (and random) Potions, and to a certain extent, Weedeaters and Ancient Artifacts. The Ancient Artifacts (the weapon that makes a ring go around you) makes you invincible when in use. Oh and btw, if you use the password system in the game your items won't be saved.
The other major tip, going off of that last point.. is to study the game's mechanics. Weapons, enemies, and your character Zeke himself. Knowing you, you should figure out some stuff pretty quick. You can weasel your way out of some tough spots and save more neighbors.
I've never played or heard of this game until now and I totally want to play it. This looks so fun! Great video!
One of my favorite games of all time. Possibly the best soundtrack to a video game ever imo.
I saw this and i was like oooowooo i loved this game. I spent so many dollars renting this game at the movie store. Kids today will never know the joy of seeing a massive wall of games laid out with the front showing and knowing you're about to spend 5 days with any game you want. Theres just nothing that can replace that experience in todays world.
Oh man, this game brings back so many good memories. Dont think i ever got past like level 15 or something, i would totally watch this series if you decide to keep playing!
My childhood I’d being relived by this series! I love it! Please continue Zombies Ate My Neighbors! I remember playing this in co-op with my cousin growing up! I remember how hard it was then! 🥲
This is my favorite series of them all and this is one of my favorite games of all time!
Double win!
Watching him miss all of the trash cans and cabinets was painful.
This was such a nostalgic game. Loved this game with my child, owned it and played it around 2002-2004.
One of the best games I have ever played right here! Sand worms and Draculas Castle were always the hardest levels for me, I never had enough monster potions to last through
So happy you are playing this. Took me years to beat finally. Save your items from stage one on bc you will need them.
I love this game. Perfect for this series. Good luck Ryu. You are gonna need it
Glad you played this Ryu! My sister and I played this so much as kids, but never finished it.
Kinda frustrating watching you though as you don't use the radar and didn't think to use the bazooka on walls and hedges. You also need to experiment more cause most enemies have a weakness that will kill them easily. Ignore the people telling you to use the passwords cause then you start with no items which makes the harder levels even worse. And don't worry about finding the optional "bonus levels", they are actual levels and you'll just lose more lives/health lol
Before I even watch the video....
This game was one of my favorite games growing up. My best friend and I would play it all night and day. :)
Edit: After watching the video, that was a blast. Play it more! :)
Also... I love that "This is easy and chill" Yeah.... hahaha
It starts off easy but it is definitely a bit of work to beat.
This is one of my favorite games of all time. Super excited to see you playing.
Would love to see more of this. I played a lot, but never got much further than where this video left off. (Maybe once or twice, I remember some worm things or something, but that's it..)
loved this game as a kid. never got past level 4, but it was frustrating and stressful fun haha.
I can dead ass remember playing this with mom and dad when I was younger. Thanks ryu!
THE INFAMOUS TITANIC TODDLER the nostalgia right now
I always hated the worms more
@@stevenrod100 that level was always my downfall. Level 20
Def play more of this - one of my favorites when I still had my genesis. Wait 'til you get to higher levels - you'll have mobs of those werewolves hopping around the screen, and I'm pretty sure there was a stage with like, three of those giant babies you have to fight...
One of my favorite old games. Definitely dropping a like hoping to see you finish this!
I absolutely love this game. It definitely gets harder. I would 100% watch the entire series. I can't wait to see what happens when the spiders and sandworms appear. Also... Save the treasure chests for the boss enemies!!!
Soooo many good memories. Thanks for this!
Your missing so many secret items. I've played this game when I was a kid. Very good game. Love this. It does get harder down the road.
That you managed to get to and beat Titanic Toddler on your first run is AMAZING! I'm a 32-year-old ZAMN veteran who has been playing the game since I was in single digits, and I usually game over before I can finish level 7!
I remember this video game as a kid. Me and a few other kids at daycare played this during the 90s for a bit but it was mainly when ever we couldn't play outside like if outside if it was raining or if the mosquitos were bad or if it was too hot outside. Than we'd be playing inside with some indoor playground or we did the playing a video game for a bit. We played this for a while and it was interesting. I long forgotten about it after years went by and man, the memories of this has come back.
1. The game requires you to enter passwords. Which you can get after completing some levels.
2. Those slimes can be frozen by using the fire extinguisher on them. Though they get free eventually
PLEASE let us see more of the game! My uncle Mike gave me this game feom his own collection as a kid. It is MADNESS at its finest!
Haven't even seen it and I already love this video thanks for spreading the word no one knows about this game tbh
One of my all time favs, it’s a real pleasure to see you playing it man.
It was a nice touch you added the controller input. Great video and good luck with this game!
Hey Ryu! Thanks for playing this awesome game. It's got a really fun speedrun as well!
God, I love this game. So much variety, great difficulty ramp (gets way too steep for me, but at least it's nice enough to let you see a few levels before it stomps you, lol), and the humor holds up.
Man my grandpa played this game with me when I was 8.
Not a game i was expecting you to play but I would love to see more. This game was my childhood and never beat it without passwords to continue on later levels. Wish i could have done it from the start
"This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen!" - A man who clearly never played Parodius.
Good suggestion for this series as well
Which one? Because one those games is not like the others.
*COUGH* rhymes with Betsy *COUGH*
I don't want to incur UA-cam's wraith.
This got so many hours out of my snes as a kid. So under appreciated. 👍
My favorite game of all time. Thank you
"look at this grandma"
oh, it's not some weird dude in a red hat
One of my favorite games growing up, and playing with someone it's still crazy, but it gives you a password after levels
I need a whole series walk-through 😍
