I bought and used a Smooth 3 but returned it as the tilt was such a short range it drove me crazy. As well it had a few bumps even with my iPhone 13 mini. I looked at some reviews of the DJI OM5, yet the tilt is also quite limited. I'll have to go out and get one of these, I'm sure it'll do what I want.
I’ve used a lot of gimbals, and this is the best in terms of tilt range. 👊🏽

Its making me money! Quite amazing how this gimbal with an iPhone 13 Pro max can produce some professional quality imagery that is up there with great cameras that are lager and more work to balance on a bigger gimbal. Time to compare this option over my Pro cam set up. What ND do you typically use on a bright sunny day with the 13 pro, stop wise? Like your videos, just came across them. Pro Res is pretty useless, unless you are getting paid to use it. Then you charge for the storage of all those files. Insane how much you'd use up for a big production shoot.
I’m with you, I’m amazed just how good it is and what results you can get.
I generally use 6 stops on a sunny day in the UK (We don’t get much of it lol). When I’m in hotter countries, I may use 7 stops if needed 😁👊🏽

I’m waiting for the new ReeFlex filters to arrive, but at the moment the best filters I’ve used with the iPhone 13 pro max is the Motion variable filter from Sandmarc, paired up with their pro case.

Then I almost bought crane m3 but it lacks integrity with filmic pro and even you can’t start record and use zoom from gimbal. Now that I found this video I know my pick. Have a good one man

great video bro, im guessing the workaround for the ports being covered is getting an L-shaped adapter or an L shaped lightning cable, it will definitely be lesser than squeezing the original cable, anyways, do u think smooth 5 is better or crane m3 is better? thanks
Yea, definitely the L-shaped adapter would be a great solution. You’ve asked a very tough question there, but If price wasn’t in question, then would have to go with the crane m3. But for the best value for money, I think the Smooth 5 is the better option. 👊🏽
Saramonic makes an L-shaped Lightning extension cable just for this scenario. I grabbed one off of Amazon to use with my Zhiyun gimbals. Somewhere around $20 I think.

How’s the vertical mode on it since Instagram doesn’t really favor horizontal videos
It doesn’t have ‘a vertical video mode’ like most other gimbals. You have to mount and balance the phone vertically if you want to film in that orientation.
Once mounted that way, it films perfectly fine vertically for TikTok or Instagram 👊🏽

Sandmarcs pro range are the best. They can accommodate their filters and work with any screw in lens, even the lenses from ReeFlex. 👊🏽
i have a question, been wanting this gimbal for a while now but im not sure. Because the setup i use will be 13 pro max using the moment case (because i want to use moment lenses), im afraid that the clamp isn't big enough to get a grip of the phone with the moment case. Can you confirm this at all?
Hey, it will fit with no problems. It might not sit completely in, but I’ve used this exact setup and it’s never fallen out on me.

Superb video and very informativ. I have an iphone 13 pro with smallrig cage. Weighs 302 grams together. I don't have any filters yet. What is the maximum payload limit? Have you ever tried that? I also don't know if the smallrig cage fits into the phone holder? (Thickness 1-1,5 cm)

Can you make vertical videos with this gimbal?
Yeah definitely! This gimbal doesn’t allow you to automatically switch to vertical mode, you have to setup and balance the gimbal in vertical mode before you power on the gimbal 👊🏽
I've read that when the 13 pro max is mounted in portrait mode, it hits the gimbal, rendering it useless. Is this true? I would be shooting mostly in portrait mode with my iPhone 13pro max so that's important to me that it works.@@ShootSmartphone
Your iPhone 13 Pro Max looks like it has a case on it. Does it? I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max (similar size) and will likely upgrade to the 13 Pro Max (or perhaps even the 14 Pro Max when it comes this Fall), and I refuse to take the cover off my phone. BUT, I do NOT use one of those big thick covers like an OtterBox. My cover is just the standard issue Apple brand iPhone covers. My question is, will the Zhiyun Smooth 5 hold my iPhone 12 Pro Max WITH ITS COVER ON?

@@ShootSmartphone well I realised when I watched it to the end you said it was tight. I have Rhode which plugs into the phone with the lapel mics. You could turn the phone the other way couldn't you then it would be free or would that unbalance it? Thanks to your video I'm getting idea which gimbal I need for my new iPhone 13 pro Max. I’ve only just learnt about audio so I know I need that microphone.

Yeah you can. In this review I was using the 13 pro max with the Sandmarc pro case. Worked very well.
