I only have the moment lens, I have never tried the others. The build quality and performance of the moment lens are great so I have not had any reason to try the other brands.
Technically no according to moment, however I have been able to make it work a few times. It does struggle and I wouldn’t recommend using that mode with a lens.
Yes, I would recommend the M2S or the M3. The original M2 can do it however it will struggle some due to the awkward size which distributes the weight unevenly.
It will technically work although the max with the cage is almost to big for the M2. I personally wouldn’t use it with the M2. The M3 would be a better size. I do have the M2 but again I wouldn’t recommend it with the M2.

I actually bought my first ever iPhone this time around in the 13 pro max - I also got the 1TB because that’s what I’m used to having on android - specifically because of some of the camera tweaks I couldn’t do with Samsung and was looking into the moment lenses. Had never heard of this little cage it looks much nicer than moment’s own solution. Going to pick one up when I get my lenses!

The cage is holding up well. It doesn’t effect cell or WiFi reception that I can tell however here in Hawaii I am never far from a tower. There is some wear at the M mount friction point but that’s to be expected. The hinge and clasp mechanism also are a bit looser than when they were new but not to the point that it effects the operation of the cage.

Switch from eye/face detect to standard wide area autofocus so you will not need to cover face everytime as it will switch automatically to something big that is upclose :) camera is clever enough to focus on face when its needed in wide area autofocus mode

The SmallRig is aluminum and is very tight. I think you will be happy with it. It is a chunky case though compared to the moment case. I also have the moment case and I use that one for my EDC. I only use the SmallRig cage if I know I am going to be filming a lot with my phone. I used to EDC the smallrig so it is doable, the moment is just lighter for every day use.

Probably not, every year they slightly change the position of certain things, ie. buttons, etc. I think that’s the case from the 12 to 13. I don’t have a 12 to compare it to, but for example my 14 pro max does not fit properly on the 13 promax cage.

Ulanzi used to make 17mm threaded lens however they stoped as far as I know. I think everyone has moved to the M mount. Unfortunately I am not aware any any quality 17mm options. There are a few on Amazon but I have no experience with them.
There is a lot of difference, the overall quality and size of the sensor on the standard wide lens gives you 1. Better image, 2. Smother footage as it’s the only one of the three lens that has IBIS, 3. Has a wider aperture so provides a. A shallower depth of field and b. Better low light performance, and 4. Is able to digitally zoom with less of a loss to image.
I personally don’t use one however I am pretty sure they will work. They worked with this case on the iPhone 12 so I would imagine they will work on the 13 as well.
They work well. Sometimes they take a second to focus, but I really don't think it's on the cage, I thinks it's more of the iPhone seeing the moment lens. I am happy with the performance of them. My thanksgiving vlog is me using only the moment lens with the smallrig cage.
@@Soal0211 if you want a all-around gimbal that can do heavier set ups and light, I think that the RS3 is the best option, however, if you only plan on doing light weight, then the crane M3 is probably the best option. Or even the crane M2S will work.

I.E. the rode wireless go, rode videomic ntg, or rode video micro v2 (not sure if that last one is the exact name). So it’s a usb-c to lighting with a diode / chip in-line designed to work with rode comparable mics.

Is there a way that you can protect the back of the phone? it won’t fit in the cage if it has a cover on, right? I just would want that the back of the phone is protected with something! I have a large metal plate on the back of mine that I use with magnetic mounts, however they does not technically cover all of the back. I have not had any issues with damage on the non covered parts and I use this case full time. I am very active and semi rough with my gear. I don’t think you will have any issues.

Hi. I just bought the rig. I have the Moment 1.33 Anamorphic lens. The lens mount is not working for me when I try to use the Wide Lens on my iPhone 13 Pro Max - the lens is obstructing the frame. It works fine on the Tele lens. I use Filmic Pro. Did you shoot with Anamorphic lens on the wide lens, please?
@@PrestonGladd Part of the frame on the edges is being blocked by the lens. Only on the Wide lens with Anamorphic. I am trying to get it resolved with SmallRig. I wish I can send some pictures.

@@agegirl You can use this as a bumper case by taking the back part of this off, but this is more for attaching third-party lens so that you could have different focal lengths for the main camera. Just for a case, for the best protection, then you should look more at the OtterBox or other brands. I’ve been using this cage full-time on my iPhone but it makes it pretty big, however it does protect it. I prefer an open back for heat dissipation, but that’s because I use it for longer video recording sessions. But there are other cases that will do a better job of protecting the phone in its entirety.

If your using a rode its the rode sc-15 cable, if your using a dji mic system it comes with the adapter.

It works fine on the Tele lens. I use Filmic Pro. Did you shoot with Anamorphic lens on the wide lens, please?
I shot on the wide lens, not sure what you mean the lens is obstructing the frame.
At 12:16 I use the anamorphic lens on the wide camera
@@PrestonGladd Part of the frame on the edges is being blocked by the lens. Only on the Wide lens with Anamorphic. I am trying to get it resolved with SmallRig. I wish I can send some pictures.
@@vasuvangala unfortunately I’m still not able to conceptualize what is happening, however you could possibly have a defective unit. But I still cannot figure out what issue you’re having as I’m not able to recreate it, going direct with smallrig like you are is the best solution.

It’s a rubber pad to keep the phone from sliding around when you set it down
Hello, I’m new to ur channel. I’m just a lil lost. I have no idea what this case is all about…ur talking about moment lens but I have no idea what that is either. I don’t understand. Is this sort of like a cage? Is it the best protection? Over a case? I can see the back of the phone itself is exposed with this item your reviewing? So idk I’m just trying to find the best case for my iPhone pro max. If you have any suggestions, that would be appreciated. This item your talking about is confusing to me lol. 🤦🏻♀️

@@agegirl You can use this as a bumper case by taking the back part of this off, but this is more for attaching third-party lens so that you could have different focal lengths for the main camera. Just for a case, for the best protection, then you should look more at the OtterBox or other brands. I’ve been using this cage full-time on my iPhone but it makes it pretty big, however it does protect it. I prefer an open back for heat dissipation, but that’s because I use it for longer video recording sessions. But there are other cases that will do a better job of protecting the phone in its entirety.

Hi, is it possible to unscrew camera plate and use this cage without it just like super bumper? I saw those plates are changeable, but will it function normally completely without it?
Yes it screws off and can just be used as a bumper case.

Price on the cage has gone up since last month.
I just checked smallrig’s website and it’s the same price that I paid as of 17 December, it’s $42.
My favorite part of this case is losing 50% reception and that it’s not a gimbal
That doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. You don’t lose any reception with this case. The gimbal part again makes zero sense.
