Which edit do you think looked best? Gimbal or Handheld? Let me know below 👇
Gimble is better, but with a selfie stick it can be managed to shoot the same
Gimbal
Gimbal is better and less tiresome, have been shooting handheld but trust me at the end of the shoot my back would ache 😊 however handheld is okay depending on which gear your using and how best you can ninja wlk
Gimbal make Beter Footage
You did a good enough job handheld in my opinion! Gimbals are of more use with regular cameras. I often film with a Gopro and horizon lock engaged and sometimes it can even outperform a gimbal+regular camera (when it comes to stabilazation).
Very inspiring, thank you! I'm a grandma who takes and edits videos of my grandkids...I can do the basics of editing with titles, transitions, audio, etc., but I'm always looking to improve. (My version of scrapbooking) I'll save up for a gimbal and try out these ideas!
Carrie you could get a used osmo mobile version 3 pretty cheap. They're still a brilliant gimbal.
This is so wholesome!
best grandma ever!
Stabilization on new phones are really amazing but keeping the horizontal level steady is really hard especially for low level shots. It is tilted at some point with the handheld shots. You can fix it on editing stage for sure but that means extra work for hours depending on the project. So, other than stabilization, gimbals help to keep horizontal level steady all the time.
On Samsung Galaxy S series phones there is a option that named super steady. When you use this extreme cinematic eis with ois it gives you better result than iphone’s action mode so you dont need big and heavy things like gimbal to film.
best grandma ever!
It is just awesome what I've learned on this channel.
I had two expensive coaches who told me how to do better videos for our channel.
But the real technique I learned HERE for FREE!
Thank you so so so much!
This is by far a better version of this concept than the one I did months ago!!! Nice work
Steve, it’s amazing how you create your storyline, it’s beautiful
Just bought the same gimbal he is using. So far it has been a lesson on 'how to use the gimbal to its fullest'. It really is a great tool for making shots easier as he points out here. It is all about keeping your actions as smooth as possible and not relying on the gimbal alone to produce super steady stuff. I am glad to have the gimbal for sure.
You mean the shots "as smooth as possible?"
What gimbal is this?
Something else to think about; top end phone stabilization costs.
A modest very phone and gimbal combo can get the results of a very high end mobile on its own for a lot less cash (and than you still have the gimbal if you get to upgrade your phone).
I love watching all your videos! I have watched so many of them and love this channel. The videos are well done and informative. I just watched this video and appreciated that you gave your viewers some heads up as to which gimbal settings you are using in your various shots. I realize each gimbal may have different names for each mode. But we novices definitely appreciate the little bit of extra handholding here. Thanks for sharing such beautiful landscapes and video knowledge with us! Congrats on the 1M subscribers...well earned!
Thanks for your kind worlds Rick, I appreciate it 🙏
It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to sit through entire videos, of something I want to learn… let me tell you, you’re holding my interest!!! Very good content! Thank you soooo much
alot thanks
Thanks mate, helpful 🎉
Thanks for the tips 🙏
I wanna ad something here, if you take hyperlaps or running shots or any kind of action activities the gimble is going to make it done easily so if you got a gimble that's going to enhance the stability! And if you just shoot some stable shots while standing at one place or little bit walk you don't need a gimble with your iPhone ! ✨❤️
Yes, I totally agree. If you’re following/tracking a subject or doing any kind of action sports then a gimbal is a must. Stay tuned for part 2 where I will be shooting some parkour 😀👌
@@LearnOnlineVideo but as far as i know the crane m3 doesn’t support object tracking or motion timelapse on a phone right ?
@@LearnOnlineVideo yay!
@@fluffers3793
That’s true. I was looking forward to buy one! Thanks!
@@LearnOnlineVideo hi steve. I watch your videos alot. Did you reach out to anyone to announce winners? I want to make sure it's not someone posing as you.
This is really helpful thanks 😄
I always follow your channel. Very interesting and useful.
I'm so grateful for this video Steve. It's pretty expensive to buy a gimbal in my country. So, this video was all I need. Definately gonna practice these moves). Thank you.
Always watching and learning at this video.. Thanks.
A quality comparison/testing video!
Thank you for the useful info!
Godspeed and God bless!
This was brilliant, particularly for the beginner or the occasional video. Thank you.
Some of the handheld shots can be a bit easier using a selfie stick. Sure nowhere as good as a gimbal but a great halfway house.
Learned so much how to capture the viewers attention in the video. Tysm!
Fantastic video. Your tests are spot on and while without the gimble it's decent, with the gimble it's just perfect.
I love your channel. It's easy to understand👍🏻. Thanks🙏🏼
Great tips as always 💜
I don't own a gimbal, just the fact that I would have to carry it around, would make me feel I SHOULD use it, otherwise it would be wasted that I brought it in the first place, it would make me feel "locked" in terms of creativity, but that's probably just me.
Great video as always Steve, thanks very much.
Thomas
Your videos are always helpful . . Thank you . . .
Hi Master Steve, it's always good and instructive to follow you.
Ciao from Thailand
Thanks Mr. Steve for this masterpiece 🔥
For low down footage the phone in a holder attached to a monopod (or similar) allows you to walk normally and hold the phone very close to the ground, still handheld but much better footage. Great video again Steve.
Great money saving tip that one Scott, love it 🎥👌
Yet you still couldn’t easily hold the perspective lifting it higher that way.
Simple and easy, thank you. :)
This is the video i was looking for
This video helps great I'm going to use this idea for my travel vlog thank you so much
This will definitely help me in my upcoming vlogs appreciate it ❤️
Outstanding!! New subscriber and thank you 😁
I absolutely love your videos! I don't have a gimbal, I use my iPhone 12 to capture my videos. I watch yours for know how and inspiration while trying to improve my mediocre skills.
Thanks for your video, verry inspirasing 😍
As always amazing video
Great video. It really shows off the skill you have as a camera operator, and how that can be enough without a gimbal.
Great stuff!
Awesome! Nice video as usual. Will not a good rig act as a stabilization device like a gimbal?
Learning a lot from you…. Thank you for your video
Exactly what I was looking for
Thank you for the tips...
I loved the way of teaching...God bless you my friend
I learned a lot from this channel..thank you..😍
Super. Thanks👍
The DJI Osmo 6 mobile gimbal makes most of those shots much easier. It's a game changer for taking phone video.
Very helpfull much appreciate.
Awesome video, Thanks for sharing
Very good (and beautiful located) video to compare shooting with and without a gimbal OF THE USUAL TYPE. 👍🏼Regrettably there doesn't seem to be a single product that elimitates the only image shaking that built in OIS isn't capable of eliminate: vertical (as occur while walking). That could be reduced with a gimbal where the compensation axises are near your hand (like a flipped regular gimbal). Your video shows it perfectly: what needs most to be taken care of is not affected to the clips no matter of any gimbal.
Love your videos brother
Congratulations on reaching 1 million followers Steve, you deserve more my friend🌹
i really need your videos. Thanks and congratulations for all.😀
Impressive 👌thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing.
Very nice
Apart from the sliding shot from behind the tree, you couldn't really tell all that much. Interesting video as I have been eyeing a gimbal for a while now but may still purchase one just to save my back and phone from damage
Really in your report the practice you have is noticeable and the shots by hand turn out very well. I normally use a gimbal, because I record walks and it is more comfortable for me, and I also like to keep the horizon level. For those who may think it is an excessive expense, they can always spend a quarter buying a DJI Osmo mobile 4, now if they have been able to spend their money on an iPhone, they will not mind, here among us, the OPPO The Fain X3 has better cameras (despite the iPhone's hype), especially when compared to the poor wide-angle iPhones, and it now costs very little. Greetings, very good channel.
Appreciate all your extraordinary professional videography instructional hands on videos. Learn very much. Best on UA-cam. Mucho Gracias
Very amazing and inspiring thank you for sharing this i will study how to vlog now :)
Hey Steve, thanks for all the awesome videos. What is currently the best gimbal option on the market? Thanks
Mind blowing presentation ❤️
Love it.. ❣️🙏
Thank you for explaining the pros and cons on a Gimbal vs heldheld.

Would love to see the iphone 14 Pro Max put to the test soon.... Great video 🤩
Great job
Thanks u so much
thank's
thankyou for this wonderful tips!! another idea for my content!epidemic sound is great!!
Just curios, did you manually focus? The reveal style shots, the focus was on the distant subject without focus jumping to the foreground element.
Great vid, one of my fave channels mate
Thanks you my friend
Bro you can make an actual documentary or a big film!!! You’re the best man!!! I learnt a lot from you! Thank you very very much to make such good videos. I alway found to do some free class or videos and here you are for me! Thanks again😊😊😊😊
Hallo Steve sehr schön 🔝 danke für Info 👏👋
There is a 3rd alternative. I do a lot of trekking videos, and I simply mount my iPhone to the end of my trekking pole. This allows me to get good close to the ground shots without bending over. You should cover this less expensive (and less to carry) possibility.
Yes, I use a monopod to the same effect.
Love this Dude in sharing all ideas and techniques..i am a fresh digital creator and using all his advice soo thankful with bro.
I'd like to add another tool possibility to compromise between handheld and gimbal. The ShiftCam ProGrip has really helped me get better handheld footage with the Samsung Ultra S22 because it feels like holding a camera instead of the precarious fingertip handling of the phone. Better high shots and low shots are facilitated because the phone can be rotated. Vortex is not really possible, but then I hardly ever use that anyway. With the camera mounted, I can still slip it into my pocket ready for action. Also, it's not as obtrusive as a gimbal. I have to admit that keeping levels while moving is still much more difficult than with a gimbal.
Zabar10 vlog ❣️
Best teacher...😍😍😍
This is sick
Very impressive, always love 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Great Tutorial! Thank You. QUESTION????? What type of Phone were you using
If you do a part 2, can I suggest you test with older phones. Even on a S10+ I find the stabilisation is nowhere near as good as what you are showing here. Excellent reference videos as always. Thank you.
