Since I removed the game bar, small screens keep appearing where they say they can't open the app since there isn't that specific app on the PC. Obviously if you close it the game starts, but it's something I don't know. I like it, can it be removed?

I just found a solution for this, it worked for me: 1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator. You can do this by searching for “cmd” in the Start menu, right-clicking it, and selecting Run as administrator. 2. Run the following commands, one line at a time: reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR /f /t REG_DWORD /v "AppCaptureEnabled" /d 0 reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore /f /t REG_DWORD /v "GameDVR_Enabled" /d 0 it will add registry keys which disables it, so it doesn't try to open the not installed app. It worked for me and if it doesn't work for you try looking at this site where I found this solution: www.windowsdigitals.com/get-an-app-to-open-this-ms-gamebar-link-pop-up/

Thank you for the easy how to video .. may I ask why not uninstall all Xbox services? I would prefer to uninstall them all. What harm may this cause? Thank you.
Hi Louise, great questions. The Gamebar is obviously an overlay that (in most cases) automatically detects when you are playing a supported game and immediately starts recording your gameplay in the background. Now that does consume resources of course. For example, I use a 4k monitor and play games at 4k, if that overlay runs and starts recording my gameplay at high bitrates that's a lot of wasted processing and disk space (albeit temporary). It could slow your pc down and if you stream or record games, often people prefer to use OBS or Streamlabs or something like that. However the other services could be useful if you are ever logging into the xbox live service, or maybe need to connect a controller to your pc for example . These services are usually set to manual and aren't started unless you use something that needs them, unlike the gamebar which is always there in the background and does consume some resources. So you can remove the others if they really concern you, but you probably don't need to bother with doing that. As for the harm it may cause, well nothing really. If you ever find yourself needing those again you can reinstall them using Windows PowerShell in much the same way. Hope that helps answer your question.
@@TLTechLife hello again, what happens if you delete all Xbox services? are they really needed if you never play any games at all ever? does it effect anything else from running on your laptop? Thank you so much .. I just find all of them to be a waste of space .. am I correct in thinking so?

I remember doing this years ago and couldn't remember how. Somehow, windows put it back on my computer, and I found out by accident. I don't need the resources freed up by this, I just don't want it there when I already removed it.
I don’t get how you knew to do this? How did you know what symbols and when to use spaces etc? How can i learn to do this? I guess it’s like anything e.g a car mechanic. You just study and learn along the way? I would like to know how to do this for other programs as well without having to look it up. So what is this process called and how do i learn it? Sorry for the long comment and i understand if you don’t want to answer or dont have time to answer… Now windows has it in a setting called “ system components” which it won’t let you delete 🤦♂️… anyways appreciate the tutorial this helped me get rid of it 👍👍👍
Hello, thanks for the great questions. I’ve been working with computers since I was 9 so you learn a thing or two. Once you learn things like programming or scripting you tend to look at things differently. Often you’ll find the windows gui only presents some things you can do, but command prompts and scripts expose a lot more things and offer you more power to do things. I would pick something like windows powershell or python to start and begin by figuring out something you wish to do, like automating something you do daily. Then through trial and error figure out how to write that script. Once you start doing this, it can become quite addictive and you’ll learn so much. As for system components I wouldn’t muck around too much there as it’s called system components for a reason. Deleting things there might kill windows for you. So stick with playing with things that don’t matter or use hyper v on windows and create a virtual machine where you can play and delete anything without affecting your main machine. Good luck, thanks for the great questions and have a fantastic day!
@@TLTechLife Hmm ok very interesting. Guess ill have to just play around with it and research… Sorry but i have one more question since it is now in system components do you think I should have not deleted it xbox game overlay? It has posed no problem other then i do get a pop up when i first start a game saying it can’t find the program to run and to download it. This doesn’t affect me as i just hit esc and thats the end of it. i did create a restore point maybe i should restore just in case it causes future issues?… Btw I appreciate you taking the time to answer
Good because I use Nvidia's Shadowplay for Recording and Screenshots and don't need unwanted apps like Game Bar from clogging up my other recording device shadowplay.
@@TLTechLife Basically is a message saying that you don't have an app for a such device or "link"... I quote it because my Windows is in spanish, so I'm not sure which exact words are used in the message. If you go to Aplications, then "default apps" you still can see the xbox gambar there... and all the other "links" saying which app will be used.
Now you gotta answer the question "How do you reinstall Gamebar if you did this specific process to uninstall it?" Cause, you know...we cry about lost saved files after forced Windows 11 clean reinstallations :(

You're a lifesaver sir, thank you so much
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. Have a great day!
This video was educational, it has accessible language, it was a lot of help for me! Removed this damn overlay and even learned other PowerShell things. Thank you very much.
My pleasure. It’s great to learn powershell, but glad to have helped with the Xbox gamebar. Thanks for the positive feedback. It means a lot.
I remember doing this years ago and couldn't remember how. Somehow, windows put it back on my computer, and I found out by accident. I don't need the resources freed up by this, I just don't want it there when I already removed it.
Well I’m here if you want it removed.
Thanks Man , Really Helped.
This doesn’t affect me as i just hit esc and thats the end of it. i did create a restore point maybe i should restore just in case it causes future issues?… Btw I appreciate you taking the time to answer
okay now how do i add it back??
yeah bro my powershell just does nothing when i typ any of this. siiick company.
This doesn't work for me on windows 11. Tried the exact command and ran it but doesn't remove game bar
thanks, really good video for me it worked!!
Helped me out appreciate the video 👍
how to revErt
Good because I use Nvidia's Shadowplay for Recording and Screenshots and don't need unwanted apps like Game Bar from clogging up my other recording device shadowplay.
Now i get a gaming overlay link message, any way to solve this? its annoying
Can you share more information about this error so I can help?
just says something like microsoft store couldnt find anything related to gaming overlay. very annoying if you find a fix please lmk@@TLTechLife
Thank you sooo much. Thanks for explaining.
a way to disable the app running in the background?
Well this method will remove it and prevent it from ever running, are you after a ‘kill the running app’ and let it restart when you reboot option?
why didnt you write all the commands mate in the description?????????
anyway best video
Oh no I can't play Microsoft games anymore... Whatever will i do after executing this command

Now you gotta answer the question "How do you reinstall Gamebar if you did this specific process to uninstall it?"
Cause, you know...we cry about lost saved files after forced Windows 11 clean reinstallations :(
Thank You So Much
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
You’re very welcome.
A bluetooth controller I had was triggering the game bar taking a screenshot every time I pressed the left bumper so I had to remove it or I would not be able to use the controller lmao ty microsoft for not letting me just disable or uninstall gamebar like a nomal program
Thank you soo much😢
Absolute pleasure my friend! 😊
thank you
My pleasure mate.
Thanks for helping me remove this piece of junk. I have been using Windows since version 3.1 and honestly, unlike Microsoft which continues to say that its system is faster and faster, I only notice a system full of rubbish, spyware and supervision which reduces freedom with each version of the user to use their hardware, internet bandwidth and electricity as they wish.
My pleasure. Feel free to hit me up when something else invades your privacy too. If I can figure it out I’ll make a video. Enjoy your day!
Big thanks!
FYI Gamebar is a must on dual ccd 3d cached amd cpus, it schedules games to run on the right ccd.
Sure when it works. You are correct. Thanks for the insightful comment. Appreciate it.
What if this is causing the game to run poorly
