Those hardware requirements, like the TPM & Secure Boot, are there for a good reason. You’re only making it easier for hackers when you needlessly disable those features.
@@50PullUps First of all, if you think that most systems are being hacked due to no TPM & SB, you're delusional. TPM & SB are only now mandatory by Microsoft and older systems will/have never used them. Also, I don't disable any of these features. Nice one! Question, after install, I set the region to anything else than "English (World)" and run Windows Update. That might re-install the bloatware? Especially if it'a Feature Pack / Rollup?
Thank you for this video and the script. I just used it to get rid of some bloat, however it seems to be unable to uninstall Edge, even in Admin mode. Fails with the error "0x80073CFA". Also, just 2 tiny things you could have mentioned: For some reason, when PowerShell is in Admin mode, you cannot drop files into it. You have to copy&paste the path. The 2nd thing is that you should probably run the script when PowerShell is in FullScreen, since some of the package names are really long and if you use a small window they just get cut off with ".." at the end, which means you cannot copy the entire name.
Since the bloatware seems to be account specific, I'm guessing if you've changed the region from World to e.g. UK or US that it will unfortunately appear on new accounts? Has anyone tested that?
@@ThioJoe The "English (World)" trick should work for all accounts. But for your script, you should add "-AllUsers" option on the "Remove-AppxPackage" command to make sure it gets uninstalled for all accounts, otherwise it's only for the current user account and the files still stay on disk.
It depends on what settings you change, if you only change the current account's region, new account will still start in English(world) which is a seperate setting you can adjust in windows. Configuration->land/region->go to administrative tab -> copy settings on the loginscreen and new user accounts
@@jowjowbro Hmm, yes I think you've cleared it up most of the way, but the rest seems to be good news nonetheless. So on the installation screen, you can only choose World for the time and currency format. Therefore, it seems you'd have to go out of your way and copy region settings in the classic control panel for new accounts just as you've described. I've changed the "Regional Format" in the new metro UI but it doesn't copy or make any difference for new accounts from what I've tested. I can't see a reason to copy to new accounts. If/when someone can't access the store, it tells them why, and they can simply change their "Format" in the metro UI and they're done. 👍
That's so cool! The first is a simple and great solution, the problem is that I always install in Spanish... I'll check if there is like "Spanish World" haha
It would be helpful to have a list of those packages that are important or critical to know which ones for sure not to delete. I already kinda manually removed a fk ton of bloat besides edge and everything related because windows complains about it and people say "iTs SuPeR cRiTiCaL fOr WiN11 tO fUnCtIoN" which I don't believe but am also unwilling to test it.
Aside: I love the Win 11 Start menu. All that crap is gone of course but I now have folder groups for EVERYTHING. Win 11 set up takes some tweaking to perfect but I’m one year into my Win 11 experience and have never been happier with an MS OS. Don’t mess this up in Win 12 Microsoft!
I use rufus to create my bootable Usb Win 11 for a local acct .. on the latest version of Rufus I have noticed after a clean install that there is bloatware in the menu after the install .. so now it makes sense Rufus must be doing it even tho I have not chosen English(World) Win Rufus .. Great Job !
It was. Tried it today (April 2024), it initially works, but when you change the region from World to your own, after some time the icons appear on the start menu.
Hey Thio Joe, thanks for the vid. Its been awhile since windows 11 came out and I decided to stick with windows 10 for now. Due to missing features, bugs, and overall bad sentiment towards 11 initailly im wondering if you think its worth upgrading to 11 at this point and if its better overall than 10?
Honestly, it's barely different. The only thing you'll notice is what's missing or broken. The main benefit imo is the redesigned settings app. The settings app in Win 10 is a disaster. The one in 11 isn't perfect but it's loads better than the one in 10.
@@link1565V2 I never understood why windows changed the settings app designs. The classic design was actually very intuitive, now when I try to access it I have to go through jumps and hurdles.
I forget who but I recently saw a video (it might have been LTT) where they took an unbloated windows install and a bloated one on identically hardware and found there was literally no difference in performance between the two. They gave some reasons why it might be different results on different hardware but I have to wonder if the bloatware really effects the performance enough to bother.
A even quicker way is when you have installed windows 11 goto setting then Personisation and then goto START and you can change what you want in the start menu and you can do the same to the Taskbar.
Thanks for the always helpful videos. Isn't there a difference with the amount of bloatware on consumer computers versus business computers or are they virtually all the same these days?

Nice one! Question, after install, I set the region to anything else than "English (World)" and run Windows Update. That might re-install the bloatware? Especially if it'a Feature Pack / Rollup?
Just found this out, great tips, thanks!!
Thank you for this video and the script. I just used it to get rid of some bloat, however it seems to be unable to uninstall Edge, even in Admin mode. Fails with the error "0x80073CFA".
Also, just 2 tiny things you could have mentioned:
For some reason, when PowerShell is in Admin mode, you cannot drop files into it. You have to copy&paste the path.
The 2nd thing is that you should probably run the script when PowerShell is in FullScreen, since some of the package names are really long and if you use a small window they just get cut off with ".." at the end, which means you cannot copy the entire name.
0x8007CFA is a address in the assembly programming language, which means Edge is a core part of the OS, I know this because I code daily. :)
Edge is what the operating system uses for file explorer now, so you’re unable to remove it.
@@trustavidityyeah was gonna say tiny11 removes edge by default, so a browser installer of your choice is required
i needed this dude, i got a new laptop and decided to keep WIN11 brcause processor efficency and hated the bs
Since the bloatware seems to be account specific, I'm guessing if you've changed the region from World to e.g. UK or US that it will unfortunately appear on new accounts? Has anyone tested that?
Not sure tbh
I'll check if there is like "Spanish World" haha
thoughts on the chris titus's WIndows de-bloat kit?
Haven’t tried it myself but heard good things
it's good with the combination of NTLite. I used it on my business with image OS.
Awesome hints, as easy as possible, besides i love batch/powershell scripts, you got the controll over what it does. Gj!
It's not. Even tiny11 gets rid of Edge by default so having Firefox or Chrome or some browser installer is required
@@adventureoflinkmk2edge was just an example of what I've seen. but still good to know, I want edge removed lol
I'm still sticking with my Windows 10 LTSC, I've never ever used the Microsoft store, and I don't ever intend to.
Great Job !
Didn't ChrisTitus just post a similar vid regarding this thing? :D
he showed this trick in his "perfect install" video so yeah :D
I ameliorated Windows and never looked back. The end game for Windows debloating and hardening.
What would we do without "Get Help"?
Or "Tips"?
I made a script to do this too, but it's less advanced. Thanks for the tip!
You can debloat windows by wrapping the hard drive around in ducktape which reduces the number of times the fracking routine initiates.
This'll be patched
It was. Tried it today (April 2024), it initially works, but when you change the region from World to your own, after some time the icons appear on the start menu.
cry about it
@@abdulla472 Of course the Roblox pfp is saying that lmao
@@caiocc12so dont ever change it from English (World)?
Its been patched
I actually tested it in a vm it worked ❤❤❤❤❤ awsome
I sti have a hard time with the fact that ThioJoe posts actual tutorial videos 😂
I don't care who Microsoft sends, I'm not installing Windows 11.
"Take a win when you can." So true! :D
Pretty funny, they are forced to have this haha
👏👏 It's much better than uninstalling those annoying app 😅 thank you.
You're wrong. Your tweet didn't get 1M views. Only your X did.
This might even get me to try Windows again. (I have been using Linux ever since W10 came out). Thank you.
Love the B2TF ending!
They're not just APPX packages. MSIX will also be included.
i think installing bloatbox also works. just do it before you install windows 11 otherwise if you install any store apps. it may ruin data.
And No, I do not run Windows 11, i use Windows 10.
And it comes back with vengeance on next update... 😏
Each Tiny 10 and Tiny 11 batch file is specific to a build of Windows, as the app version numbers change with each build.
Hi Joe - great video - followed your instructions, and my new laptop is much cleaner than i could have wished for. Cheers :)
I assume you checked out Chris Titus debloat script.
How would you compare your script with yours?
I actually haven’t tried it myself but heard good things. It is much more comprehensive than mine, my script is very simplistic.
Thanks for a great tip! Wish I'd know about this before installing Win11 on a new computer.
Windows Answer files is the best way to debloat windows
CONGRATS ON 3M SUBS!
This is for a clean install. What to do for an already running config?
8:31 Yes!! I failed to do this with services and broke several features including bluetooth. Had to fresh install to fix it.
Love your channel. Learn so much. Thanks
Thanks for the always helpful videos. Isn't there a difference with the amount of bloatware on consumer computers versus business computers or are they virtually all the same these days?
Enterprise has no bloat or telemetry at all it’s basically as clean as Linux
