      man that really sucks for me though. I love gamebar as I can easily clip moments from my favorite games with ease and the file sizes on the clips are relatively small compared to something like nvidia's. While my issues do not seem to have disappeared completely (to be frank, I have long suspected that what I experience is a number of things contributing to the experienced outcome) but nonetheless, I have seen a marked improvement to my fps. It is positive to the point that parts of the game I play, DCS, were anything but playable.

    RESULTS AFTER THIS CHANGE!
    I get 180-215fps depending where I am in caldera, so I cap my fps at 163 on my 165hz monitor. I've always experienced choppiness, weird input lag that comes and goes, and could never find the issue. I just played a couple games of warzone, and my controller feels more responsive, and the choppiness/random stutters seem to be gone.
    Panjno, I just want to thank you for this video! I've been going crazy trying to find the issue, this has helped more than you could ever know! Interesting, but worth mentioning is that if you run System File Checker (SFC) to check for corrupt files, the GameBarPresenceWriter.exe file gets restored, and sits alongside the one you just changed the name of. Then you must REPEAT this process all over again.

      Looking at the whole thing, I am guessing that the registry edit is what matters most here. Whether you delete the file, have it restored by an SFC, whatever, the edit to the registry did not change. Also, if you search the internet, there appears to be other methods involving other registry edits to "fix the game bar."

    Going into the BIOS/UEFI settings and turning *off* "C1E" - also called "Enhanced Halt State" - (then save and exit the settings) also gets rid of annoying micro stutters - not just in games.
    *Update 2022:* this only applies to the Intel, _not_ AMD processors. This change may not make a noticeable difference with newer generation Intel processors.

    • @AkaObbies
      @AkaObbies 2 роки тому

      This can cause heat issues and reduce the lifespan of your cpu a bit due to it trying to use the full clock speed of your cpu constantly. Your cpu will be unable to go to any idle or sleeping state.

    • @Dave4000
      @Dave4000 2 роки тому +2

      @@AkaObbies Turning off C1E (Enhanced Halt State) does NOT run the CPU at full speed 100%. It's just an overzealous form of C1 power saving. If you were to turn off all C states, SpeedStep/SpeedShift and enable "Ultimate Performance" in Windows power settings then yeah, the CPU will use a lot of power! Turning off C1E just gets rid of annoying micro stutters and reduces (or eliminates) sound humming.

      If no luck, don't worry about it. On some computers (like my laptop for instance) it isn't possible to turn off C1E, but I don't get the micro stutters on it. That seemed to affect older CPU's mostly.

    • @Dave4000
      @Dave4000 2 роки тому

      @@John3-16- I expect it's under "C States", which I believe has to be changed from "auto" to "enabled" (which then unlocks all the other C-state settings). Only change C1E to "disabled", leaving the others alone.
      Best to only change one BIOS setting at a time, so if Windows suddenly blue-screen crashes, you will know which setting caused it.

    Is there any benefit to capping frames at a fraction of the monitor's refresh rate? For me I have a variable refresh 144hz display, trying to figure out if it makes a difference or capping at the highest I can put out consistently is ideal

    • @WreckerALeX
      @WreckerALeX 2 роки тому

      Remember that capping FPS can introduce latency so capping at your max FPS you gain nothing but latency....
      To fight latency you should lower your hz(not fps) instead to your max fps you can reach.
      Its always about how much the fps dips you can tolerate...
      If you can't reach the top fps supported by your display, I would never capped it...
      However...game media outlets like "Digital Foundry" always call capping to a consistant fps as "smoother gameplay" means that you won't feel the dips as much (noticeable slowdown during intense scenes like mob fights) which can anoy people but not me unless the dips are frequent then depends on how low it dips.

    Disabling game bar heavily reduces fps drops for me, but my issue is that I want to use game bar to record clips for videos but every time it records in the background, my frames continuously drop. Any suggestions for either an alternative to Xbox game bar for recording or some way to reduce/remove stutters while using game bar?

    instead of having to do all this to stop xbox game bar I done it much easier like clicking this: windows-setting-apps-InstalledApps-xbox gamebar-click on 3 dots(...) next to it-advanced options-background permissions- click box in allow this app to run in background and change it to NEVER and it's all done and you can easily turn it back ON if you need to take some replay screenshots or any screenshots as the xbox game bar is required for screenshots.

      You can try Rivertuner Statistics Server( RSS) and limit the fps to a specific game or for all games to a certain fps. For example if you have a 60hz monitor you don't need 70+ ,more issues are occuring with that than setting it to a specific configuration. It's not like vsync for people who are wondering, it both limits the fps to the amount you want( if you have 60hz I recommend limiting it to 65hz) and tries to balance every second of each frame to the next one. Fps stuttering is when you have an amount of fps and then it goes either up or down very unexpectedly. One frame can be 20ms and the next 25-30ms and the next 15ms that's why it stutters. This app makes every frame the same jf possible. You can google search for more information and help
