Ranty McRant-Pants it was a certain tone and vibe I was going for, out of all the comments I have received about 3-5 question the style I was going for. Some more explicit then others. Like yours is rather polite. Firstly, sorry mate that this video didn’t sit well, obviously my intention wasn’t to get a reaction of someone curious why I did what I did. I was trying to be able to stand out. There are over 100 videos in that playlist all using similar footage and all going over similarly written scripts and when making this I was a channel under 650 Subs. To me I saw this as an opportunity to stand out. Now it was going to be a little more risky, but I thought it would of been the best choice I could make. Hopefully this kinda explains my thought process on this 🙂 Ps* I have done more videos post this such as my Spider-Man video after this that is way more to the norm of video essays. The follow up to this scene is what sticks with me. The church is now empty, Steve is alone. Nat walks in and they talk shop for a minute or two. Then Steve asks her why she came. And she tells him that she didn't want her friend to be alone today, gives him a hug. I think about that scene now after watching Endgame...and I am haunted.
My comment is Spoiler territory, so please watch Endgame first. With that out of the way, let me say to you, DTE, considering your wishes for Captain America, ... ... you'll probably be very happy after watching the film.
Another part of the scene I really love is how well it sets up Cap’s motivation for the rest of the movie. The line about compromise represents Cap’s view about the accords and his stance.
Totally, there are so many more things i didnt even mention. I see some people hating on this scene, saying its a poor way to send off a great character. But i just really disagree!
Really like the video, but one recommendation: Because of the darkness of the foreground and the variable high lighting of you in front of the open windows (as you move), the light level keeps changing, and that is distracting. I'd say close the shades, or get a more even background.
Thomas Mays what the real issue is that I forgot to lock the exposure. This 100% my fault and I’m sorry it detracted from the video. Thanks for the feedback mate, I’ll try harder to focus on that more so next time🙂
Really loved this one, a bit of a different take on a film essay, maybe i just havent watched enough but this is the first one i have watched where someone has just sat down and talked to the camera, it feels kinda more personal in that way where as most would just show footage from the movies the whole time. Really great job!

And finally Thank you to Caleb for helping me throughout this whole video making process. Could not have done this without you. Also Harry, you legend for staring at the end!
When I saw "I had a date", I was remembering Cap using that to explain to Nick Fury why he was down. But though the reality of what happened to him caused him to miss it, Endgame allows him the second chance we all believe he deserves.
I don't know if its true, but there's an older gentleman white white hair also being a pallbearer, he's at the back an only seen in one scene, and a friend of mine pointed out that it looks a lot like older Cap

@@DareToEntertain That moment was the one that broke the dam that had held back the tears for the entire movie. I had managed to contain it to a small trickle until then. But man, what a scene. What a movie.
That Sharon Carter quote is from the Civil War event in the comics. Cap says it to Spidey which causes him to switch sides and join Cap's secret Avengers.....the quote is the reason Cap has been my favorite for years.
@@DareToEntertain You should definitely check it out. Getting to hear it in the movie and the way it inspired Cap to stand his ground...held as much weight as it did in the comic.
Skyward Demise It was weird, and more than a bit tonally inappropriate. I remember seeing Civil War in theaters, and everyone cheered when that kiss happened. Looking back now, though, it makes no sense. IRL it is often years before someone can get over the loss of their spouse or the one who was going to be their spouse, so that kiss just isn't realistic at all.
Skyward Demise You know, it's not like I didn't like the actress's performance. Her performance as Agent 13/Sharon Carter was cute, and believable. In The Winter Soldier, her small role in that film ABSOLUTELY adds to that film, and does not detract from it at all. I think the real issue though is, in The Winter Soldier or Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D(whichever introduced her character), they did not yet have in their minds where they wanted Cap's arc to end, and so Agent 13 was introduced as a possible love interest that they could develop further if they so chose to. Civil War made her into a major problem by trying to appease Internet shippers of the two by forcing sparks and romance where such didn't really fit, tonally or plot-wise. In the end, though, post-Civil War, when it came to choosing time, the writers of Cap's arc passed over her character and picked a different option for him, leaving her effectively defunct. @@charleslee8313 well, at the end of season 2 (before it was discontinued) the very last shot is of Souza and Peggy kissing and in Winter Soldier Peggy says "the man who would later become her husband" was in the 107th regiment (true for both Souza and, by definition, cap). @@RonquixoteDIII here is the thing though. Apparently she always married cap, it was ment to happen. In endgame he goes back to the 1970s and sees a pic of himself in her desk. Love these Video Essays, great job Charles👍🏼 I’ve watched most of hi tops, captain midnight ETC videos and it’s great to see you’re getting into this area!!!
It's a good scene and I guess you are pleased because kind of what you wished for, did happen to Cap at the end of Endgame. But for me, as much as I love Cap (he's my favourite MCU character), sending him back to give him his time with Peggy felt unnatural and purely for fan service. Cap is who he is because of what he has endured - the loneliness, not getting the girl, being out of his time - and so retrofitting it so that he has that, to me, damages the integrity of who he is and undoes what he has achieved. What poignancy do the scenes that you mentioned now have, given that you know that it all works out in the end? It also kind of ignores his blossoming relationship with Sharon and tramples on what Peggy achieved on her own.
Dude come, on Bruce Wayne is not a billionaire playboy who becomes Batman, he trained from the moment his parents die, in fact you could say he begins prior to their untimely death given his brain power, in essence he Cap share this in common coz they were their alter egos before they created their suits.
not in all cannon's does Bruce train from the second his parents die, in Batman Begins (the character i was referencing) it wasn't till he hit rock bottom that he knew he needed to pursue something to like justice for the people who can't defend themselves. Become the idea that would become Batman. But the point still stands, that he changes during his arc. BUT that point you make at the very end is a good one. that their alter egos were created before the suit. That's some good insight. I do think this topic isn't cut and dry, however... I think there is a lot of room for interruption
ChristophTheMad yes! Thank you. He is literally my favourite. I was trying to do something a little fun and different to the other “one marvellous scene” videos
Iron Man wasn't the villain of Captain America: Civil War Zeemo was. He manipulated the avengers into fighting against each other, more so, wanting to kill each other.
Spicy Italian Mongoose zemo only showed the truth, the film works way better as tony as the villain, but that’s just my prospective. What are you thoughts? Did you think both cap and tony are the protagonists?
@@edgarleft I see where you are coming from, but technically they would both be antagonists right? The villain is yeah a strong term, and tony is a "bad guy" but every bad guy thinks they are the hero of their own story
@@DareToEntertain I'm not sure that Iron man or Captain America were either villains of the movie. I think they were just two Avengers who had a disagreement. Thanks for replying, it means a lot. Btw I feel really stupid about confusing Arnim Zola with Baron Von Zeemo.
Spicy Italian Mongoose we all make mistakes with names. If u don’t think tony is the bad guy that is all cool, we can have different POV on this, that’s what is great about film.
In your opinion what made that scene good? I’m sorry that my analysis was light in depth, hopefully you do stick around and see some of the other more traditional video essays I’ve done on the channel. Always trying to improve. Thanks for the feedback
Hey, here's a question posed just for how surreal it might be (And this is spoiler-heavy, so proceed with caution) What if, after Steve went back in time and grew into the old man we saw at the end... he wound up being one of the many people killed by the Thanos Snap, only to become alive again, all offscreen?
I think the reality he went to didnt have the snap happen? or at least he lived till peggy died and came back to the modern timeline? but thats a very interesting question
You ever been in a tight spot? When in a tight spot people with break the ice with a joke or bit of witticism. So those Marvel jokes? They are more real to real life.
I see what you’re saying but respectfully disagree. Watch the movie nice guys and see how to balance tone perfectly. Humour with weight. One of the funniest drama actions out there I swear
I have kinda put them to the side, i have only done a few since April :(. Still trying to figure out whats next with them, been thinking about moving them to twitch but starting again on a diff platform seems rough. Just UA-cam doesnt support streams as much as it use to.
Sebastian Zellah I only did in the later one where she is saying to move to keep the pace, the video felt slow so that slight faster music was trying to keep the speed up and not feel like it’s halting. I’m sorry if it takes you out of the scene. That wasn’t my intention
@@DareToEntertain I mean, it kind of ruins the point of having a scene If we can't experience it fully. However that's just my point of view, and I'm sure everyone else is probably didn't care.
@@Szellah7 Well i want everyones Point of view, i showed so many people they dont notice, I was trying to test something to see if i should do it in the future, it was still captain Americas music in that scene, but i added the suite in to make it feel more consistent. YOUR DREAM CAME TRUEEEEEE
Eric Gaming How epic???!
Wow this video was well made. I'm impressed. I'm going to go ahead and make an One Marvelous Scene video as well even though Endgame is out. I'm going to be doing something from Civil War as well. Man I love the MCU so much.
EthanNetwork awww thanks so much mate, when u finish that video, reply to this thread or @ me on twitter so I can check it out mate. I think the MCU has effected all of us here. I think the whole one marvelous scene idea has proven that.
@@DareToEntertain Will do, and I definitely agree.
@@DareToEntertain I finished the video! I don't have twitter so idk if I can get it into the playlist, but here it is: ua-cam.com/video/BnnAM1cpPOE/v-deo.html
Hey the film actually ends like that
Good job
Thanks :)
Love these Video Essays, great job Charles👍🏼 I’ve watched most of hi tops, captain midnight ETC videos and it’s great to see you’re getting into this area!!!
Thank you so much Bon, i have always had amazing support from people who are close.
They gave Steve a lifetime of dances.
They sure did, so wholesome
Oh no..
Always have High Hopes. There is a very mild song about that. Good job.
smtucker0419 thanks mate
That should have said OLD song. It is about an ant and a rubber tree plant:)
With the glasses you look like Tom Holland mixed with Milo Yiannopoulos
You are the second person to say i look like Tom Holland! Thanks heaps it feeds my self-esteem haha. Hope you enjoyed that video.
Great video!
Thank you mate
IRON MAN 4 SPOILER ALERT:
Mr End Game dies he had a good run
Coming next summer?
That ending though
;)
Cosmonaut Marcus would like to know your location
Great Channel, love his work

Sirdesqwee how good mate? To get so many different povs
He litteraly predicted caps fate
Haha bloody mad, Did not actually think it would happen
Gongrats on 1.3k btw
Aw Thanks mate
Is this a riff on Patrick Explains from Patrick H. Willems? Because good job, it worked.
ChristophTheMad yes! Thank you. He is literally my favourite. I was trying to do something a little fun and different to the other “one marvellous scene” videos
Please make more video essays 👌🏼
Aww thanks mate, ill try make more as soon as possible

Wow. I love that twist ending! However, those ten minutes were worth the absence of liquidised caffeine.

wow he almost got the ending exactly right
😎
Well.... Someone is gonna like the endgame ending............

Iron Man wasn't the villain of Captain America: Civil War
Zeemo was.
@@DareToEntertain In my opinion is Zemo the villain, but Tony Stark was the antagonist.
Okay. But End Game.
TheCheck7 oof
Close!
So close
"Enforce Freedom" lol
hehe
You missed the depth of what made that scene so good.
In your opinion what made that scene good?

Shouldn't the Netflix series or the show SHEILD count?
Does it only work with films?
I have a lot of favorite scenes
From those shows.
Aaron Rachiele yeah they count mate
great vid and MAD lol u know what I mean
Hey, here's a question posed just for how surreal it might be (And this is spoiler-heavy, so proceed with caution)
What if, after Steve went back in time and grew into the old man we saw at the end... he wound up being one of the many people killed by the Thanos Snap, only to become alive again, all offscreen?
I think the reality he went to didnt have the snap happen? or at least he lived till peggy died and came back to the modern timeline? but thats a very interesting question
Aussie, nice

@@DareToEntertain I bravely shed a single manly tear
i need someone to do the scene with tony at the elevator at the beginning of civil war
Good scene, It isn't my favorite but it sets up the amazing scene where Tony tells the team about this kid. A lot of meaning in so few words
Does anyone know what song the choir is singing at peggys funeral?

You ever been in a tight spot? When in a tight spot people with break the ice with a joke or bit of witticism. So those Marvel jokes? They are more real to real life.
I see what you’re saying but respectfully disagree. Watch the movie nice guys and see how to balance tone perfectly. Humour with weight. One of the funniest drama actions out there I swear
Hey!! What happened to your streams?
I have kinda put them to the side, i have only done a few since April :(. Still trying to figure out whats next with them, been thinking about moving them to twitch but starting again on a diff platform seems rough. Just UA-cam doesnt support streams as much as it use to.

The only thing that ruins this scene for me is that Cap macks out with Peggy’s niece later in the film
It is odd isn’t it. It is the only glaring mistake they made in his arc. As if they weren’t fully sure where they were going with it in the end
Dare To Entertain I think what saved the audience from turning on Cap was the humour used right after it with Bucky and Sam
@@cyrilfoday you know what, that does sure help. I think you are right about that.
Big Boy Charles putting on his BIG BOY clothes and Glasses.
Edit: Jesus Christ Captain America was skinny.
Yes mate! it's time to get serious
Did you never watch the movie?... and it's not his body, it's some really skinny short guy that they put Chris Evans face on.
Timothy Rodowicz I don’t think he actually thinks that is Chris evens. I think he is just saying how skinny the character got

....Dude, you were sooooo close!
Justin JT Lott I know lol! It was just an out there thing I really wanted and it ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
Why did you leave your music in the scene?
I am sorry and next time I will try not to make the same mistake.
Thank you for voicing your thoughts, otherwise there isnt a way for me to know what works and doesnt work :)
@@DareToEntertain I personally would toned down the rest of the music to match the scene. Although positive reaction to your video, may be a prove, that your idea did its job wonderfully. It's nice to know my opinion was heard, but be cautious. I don't do videos myself so my advices coukd turn out to be awfully wrong. Take care.
@@Szellah7 Thank you for just being civil in your delivery. I will do more research just to see when its applicable. Every opinion to me needs to be at the very least heard. :)
