We are in the Winter Dance Party at Clear Lake, Iowa, February 1959, the last concert of Buddy Holly. It´s cold outside, but this song can raise your temperature. Sing along, buddies!
This is an actor called Angus McGregor and this is from the west end stage show Buddy! if you look through the comments He has placed a comment himself confirming this is him!!! Probably the best Buddy I have heard in this show...spot on actor, singer and guitarist!!
This song still sends chills up my spine, what if Buddy lived? I was nine when the music died, but remember how deeply the tragedy. For those critical Gary Busey, I would just say come out of your shell. Gary (and the Beatles) did more to keep the memory of this rock titan alive than anyone. Gary didn't lip sync, it's him. Pretty damn awesome.
possibly the greatest era of all time. Peoria,Ill was on the list, but buddy died before the tour got there. Was truly the saddest day in the history of rock..................
fantastic energy. joy. the electric energy of the Fender Strat in the early days of rock & roll. to me, those who keep Buddy alive through shows such as this are doing the world a great service. Love it! '
The performer is Scottish actor Angus McGregor and most of these posts have previously credited him as playing the part of Buddy Holly in the stage play "Buddy". He should always be credited, as he has previously been.
@CoCoismywhawha I'm with paulinus43ad on this one just enjoy it. I saw the same Play at Long Beach Island in 2009. Buddy Holly was played by Tdd Meredith. He was a very great singer.
I agree with the superb playing! The Dance is also awesome but not very hard really, depends how good a dancer you are and how you can move your body haha, but yeah, I tried it last night while playing this song and I can kind of do it, and that was first try. Modern music does suck, the 50's. 60's and 70's were by far the best 30 years of music.
Yes the 3 color sunburst 1958 model that Fender replaced. His original one was a 1955 model 2 color yellow sunburst that was stolen out of the back of their station wagon during the Allen Freed Show in 58.
Are you people cracked? This is Angus MacGregor playing Buddy Holly in the terrific musical called "Buddy". Besides, he doesn't sing like Busey anyways.
@QUASARA Seriously? that's pretty interesting. i'm assuming the crash site is actaully pretty remote, even today. I know there's a small plaque ect there. And i've also heard the Surf ballroom is still going.
isn't this Paul hipp? I went to the opening of Buddy in Victoria and Paul was fantastic as Buddy. I do believe it's still running. Well... Alright!! Mikey xx
THis is the only colour footage of a tribute show to Gary Busey impersonating Buddy Holly. The show was billed as "Jeramy Dolt, does Gary Busey better than Busey does Holly.! " THe five girl backup singers were hired from the Piggley Wiggley store in Astabula because they already had the dresses.
@CoCoismywhawha who has been taken? i dont know one person that is confused over if this is real or a tribute/cover band. nor do i think the person who posted this video tried to mislead people in the description. i think he is just trying to take us back in time to see what it might of been like. grow up, you are not some big bad all important music history buff that has the authority to think he just solved a big mystery.
And it would make sense, because the real Buddy Holly did record the song in his apartment, but the tape was not discovered until after his death, and they dubbed in other instruments on the song, and released it. On his apartment tape, Buddy Holly sang lead vocal, and accompanying himself on guitar. So he would never have sang the song live on stage, even the concert that took place at the Surf Ballroom, the night before he died.
Wow reading the comments on this, is it that hard to tell that 1. This is not Buddy Holly, 2. This is not gary Busey. and 3. Duh you really think it's an impersonator??
Annika, is the tour still playing in the U.K? If not, will they be doing 2008 (Around the Manchester area) Many thanks for any info on this. Rgds / Tim.
You say akon-I say ac\dc You say britney spears-I say Ozzy Osbourne You say lil wayne- i say motley crue You sayJonas Brothers-I say Guns & Roses You say Miley Cyrus-I say LEDZEPPLIN You say rap-I say rock You say pop-I say just about any rocker that sings better drunk or high. You can tell the singer isn't American by the way he pronounces "been". I wouldn't be surprised if this is a Brit. He's gotta work on his accent more by not making blatantly non-American pronunciations.
This is an actor called Angus McGregor and this is from the west end stage show Buddy! if you look through the comments He has placed a comment himself confirming this is him!!! Probably the best Buddy I have heard in this show...spot on actor, singer and guitarist!!

@melulu132 Buddy was known as the prince of rock. Had he not been taken from this world so early, he may have rivalled Elvis even more
This is from the musical The Buddy Holly Story. But color broadcast did begin in the US in 1954 however, most people did not own color TVs.
BUDDY WAS THE ROCK & THE ROLL

@CoCoismywhawha No, we've been entertained like it was intended!
@pydo7 totally totally agree
THis is the only colour footage of a tribute show to Gary Busey impersonating Buddy Holly. The show was billed as "Jeramy Dolt, does Gary Busey better than Busey does Holly.! "
