37516 goes full on steam mode and fogs out half of Carlisle! Love it ❤ just to think they got rid of steam for cleaner diesel engines! 😂 A dirty seven at its finest. Thanks for a great video Les, very informative one, I hope your lungs are okay after inhaling all that smoke! I miss the Thames Clyde Express that would take my family on our hols to Ayr.
A parade of 37s today,, and I especially like the 37s in the WCR livery. The best shot was the Avanti Pride in glowing sunshine and blue sky. Great colelction today!
Nice work Leslie. I felt really sorry for the man who wasn't allowed to join the 1408 Carlisle > Barrow (12:46). The train was still stationary, the driver saw him, had time to let him on but still set off without him. Very poor. And the 'dispatcher' didn't care a jot either. Unforgiveable. Interesting 37 manoeuvres though. 685 arriving 'live' and departing 'dead'. 🤔
Technically the train had started and the staff are used to people making a dash at the last second. The train has a two or more hour journey ahead and a delay at the start would only build up. As it happens he's only a 35 minute wait for the next train. Thanks for watching
@@LeslieGilpinRailways I'm afraid that I'm not impressed by any technicality argument, there was just one person, he obviously wanted to board a train that was still stationary but the staff weren't interested. Any delay to let him on would have been no more than 90 seconds and that time can easily be made up. This illustrates a general lack of consideration to others that saddens me.
Brilliant video of the 37's and the smoke coming from them, I bet you were choking! A personal view of mine is that the 37's don't suit the West Coast Purple livery - they suit the old BR Large Loco one better, I think, but that just may be me longing for days gone by!
@@LeslieGilpinRailways Yes, absolutely and it is great to see 37's and other 'old' loco's still working the rails. I just wish they'd saved more Class 40's, my favourite Loco.
Looks like it's a health risk being around when a 37 starts up! Reminds me of the 50s, a mixture of fog, smoke and steam when visiting Willesden sheds one winter.
Lots happening. It was interesting to see some of the station canopies actually closely resemble the Hornby platform canopies. I've just been filming my layout from track level so they rally did look similar. Stay safe Mon
Hi been meaning to ask with all the positive publicity you are giving Carlisle Station, surely they must provide you with tea and sandwiches and your own particular spot Take care
I need to rewatch that segment but my memory is the train was starting. He only had a 35 minute wait for the next train (which he was probably going for)
Great video Les superb footage love the tractor clag you cant beat a cold start i could almost smell it lol , really enjoyed it thanks for sharing take care a t b syd👍
whats the best time going to see all this i went on the 24th but only seen that dark red and yellow class 37 parked there it did say a log train was passing which you seen in the video but for me it said it was not moving and had no time
Another cracking video leslie well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on UA-cam bye for now Philip
The 390s run with the rear pantograph up as do LNER Azumas. TransPennine and other companies run with the front one up.I don't know why, but Avanti drivers need permission and run at reduced speed if they run front panto up. Always 2 pantographs on a unit.

Thanks Anthony, nice when it gets busy
Long live the 37s!
You don't get this sort of drama with modern 2-stroke diesels.
Well captured Mr G.
Heh, modern 2-strokes. The EMD 2-stroke is even older than the EE SVT! 😁
Another foggy day in Carlise ...🤣🤣
But the EMDs are better maintained, the GEs less so.
Beutiful sunshine forst thing before the 37 seeded the clouds lol
Wonderful mixture as always Les, 37 heaven!
Yes indeed! Thanks!
Great footage Les.37516 !!! Well, there's clag and then there's pea soup clag 😄Really enjoyable thanks 👍 Colin.
Glad you enjoyed it. That loco will be getting a reputation!
Great video my friend 😊😊
Thank you
Impressive smoke screen
Indeed it is
Movimentação de trem show gostei
Thanks!
Glad you were there to catch the action in the stabling roads Leslie. Crazy. All the best.
It was mad eh. Ironic that the one smoking was in bettr condition than the one meant to tow it
Well done video ! Greetings from Germany ! Class 37 diesel over 60 Years on duty !!
Thanks
Another great video Leslie lots of class 37s and amazing to watch 37516 start up.
Thanks!
Very nice, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Thanks for watching
Great shots of the 37s,right place right time.
I certainly was but just slightly the wrong angle to see the initial flames,
Awesome video as always les from Alan in Lowestoft buddy 😊
Thanks 👍

Thanks! As to livery, it is an awkward colour but at least it adds to the variety of what is out there.

Thanks. The canopies are, I think, a common design used by BR London Midland Region in the 1950s - these date from 1958.
Les absolutely loved the 37,s having a strop 😂😂
Thanks

HAhaha that'll be the day
Nice catch of the passenger missing the train at 12:43 by 2 seconds, Leslie!

fantastic footage as always

Hard to say a best time any more - all depends on the day. Mornings but check real time trains
Gas masks at the ready Les. 😷Good to see such an abundance of locos at Carlisle.
It was nice having five there and another in the centre roads.

the world has warmed up another two degree,s since this video was made..........
didn't look good from a business point of view
Someone over did the diesel cleaning the the tractor....
lol it seems to be a problem with that loco. Thanks for watching
this might be a silly question but why do the avanti class 390's only have 1 pantagraph up not any others ??

ty for that les @@LeslieGilpinRailways
hello why is class 66571 stopped on the train in the station
No idea. Maybe the driver was out of hours to get the final few miles (not unusual)
hello l like class 37685 engine on idle sounds more nice than class 37516 cold idle
They sound good in any condition! Thanks for watching
Hello@@LeslieGilpinRailways I like class 37685
Hello@@LeslieGilpinRailways what livery was class 37685 my favourite class 37 with the nicest engine idle in?
Hey Leslie I have a question, you don't happen to have a model railway by chance do you?
Edit: Also what camera do you use?
I do - see earlier vids - there's a playlist, Camera details in the video description
