Honestly, Mark would be so wholesomely egotistic if he HAD won an Emmy. Id expect nothing less than a full hour length stream of him just sitting in a chair next to his Emmy without saying a word and looking smugly at the camera. And we would love it.

IMO the characters are aware that this is just a game the way they speak and just freely give away scrap is weird, especially the girl with the shotgun, like if I was that girl I wouldn't be so trusting and would be better she pointed her gun at the MC and be all aggressive and paranoid like, given the fact she is also aware of charles. PS this is not hate just observation
It's unfortunate the character's mouths don't move (yet) because the voice acting in this game is honestly phenomenal. Pickle Lady in particular is hilarious, the VA sounds like she's having an absolute blast.
to me it's even better, sets low expectations, unware people join thinking that charles will be some wacky monster that will look like a big png but get to meet that terrifying abomination hunting them down

Mark ignoring Charles’s horn in the distance, which I guess is the signifier that he is coming to attack, is undeniably one of the most stressful things I’ve watched him do 🫠
I felt that way but with Jack always stopping his train whenever Charles attacked. Like he spent hundreds of scrap repairing when he could just MOVE HIS TRAIN AND SHOOT LIKE THAT.
I'm happy that for once in a horror setting, every single character is trustworthy and direct about their intentions, whether they be resident or cult member.

This game was pretty decent and the fact it was made by only one guy and the level of detail and everything about the gore and missions and much more is insane. 10/10
I think the funniest part about Mark saying he isn't a completionist is that, aside from collecting the paint cans he completed everything in one go. He did all the side quests, maxed out all his stats, got all the guns, and beat the game.
IDK why but the phrase, "'Eugene's soul resides within Tittle,' I don't think it do," in that specific tone and inflection makes me fucking weep laughing.
Mark having to treat his fans like we're a class of mixed-aged children all with undiagnosed and unmedicated neurodivergence has to be one of my favorite things
more horror games need to realise allowing you to have a proper final boss is a good climax to a game and won't detract from the horror. That final battle with Choo CHoo Charles is tense and great.
I think too many horror games get obsessed with the idea of making you helpless which is valid but like giving you ways to fight back doesn't really make things less scary imo
@@BrendenTait8858 A really great way to do that is to add a way to fight back, but with the constant threat of messing up, such as with limited ammo or an AI that attempts different methods of attacking. Imagine if Charles tried to sneak up after a few attempts, or hid beside a part of track you were approaching.
@@BrendenTait8858 Sometimes it does, it really depends on what the consequences for dying are. If you CAN fight back effectively or have a good chance of escaping even after getting noticed then why go through the trouble of sneaking when you can just run through guns out without ever really being punished for it? Even if you mess up what do you lose? A minute of walking? A horror game where there is no real consequence for dying becomes 10 times less scary after the first 2-3 deaths because there really isn't anything to fear. As an example, Alien: Isolation is a lot scarier than PREY imo, because you get seen you die. Even if you manage to hide in a room the Xenomorph barges in and checks a bunch of hidey-holes while you have to hold your breath to avoid being heard, so it's a lot better to avoid being seen at all. Yes, you have the flamethrower but after a while the AI learns to not fear it as much, so you are screwed anyway. In PREY? You get seen you shoot. Nothing to worry about. "Oh no that box was not a box it was a black blob guess I'll just have to kill it". Much less scary imo.

How did this game get a 4/10?! This is easily a high rated game. Sure, like Mark said, there are a few rough edges here and there, but for a game which has been done by one person - props to you game dev!!! - this is phenomenal. I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but, yes, I could see a good review coming out of this game. So far, the only "complaint" I have about the game is the characters' mouths don't move. But if the dev(s) were on limited time and resources, I can understand and forgive that. Overall, though, this looks like a beautiful game design wise and I can't wait to see the rest of the video. P.S. Dev(s)! This is one of the rare games where the developer is so passionate that he does whatever it takes to make it look and feel good, sure the cutscenes with people talking are a lil jumpy but the game is amazing. I was watching the dev from nearly day one with the creation of the game and he truly has love for what he’s created

I love how humble Markiplier is he always tries to remind us that smaller streamers need our help and how many small streamers he’s helped with their careers and making them big. He always comes off as someone who cares more about others than himself and I just think there’s not a lot of people in the world like that anymore. I honestly love Markiplier he’s so funny he’s smart he’s a great gamer and on top of that all he’s just a great person.
He’s got ADHD I can say from personal experience when you have that and play video games it’s very hard to miss things because you’re constantly think what’s that? I’m pretty sure if I’m was playing I would be able to find everything, figure out how the horn works faster, and talk to everyone in the game but I would also spend 20 more hours on it lol It’s a lot easier to miss things when you’re talking nonstop at the same time and trying to entertain
this game having a 4/10 is shocking cuz I found this incredibly immersive with a really captivating storyline and a FANTASTIC final boss. sure it had its janky parts, but for one dude making this, it's a 9/10 for me. absolutely spectacular

I found this game's dev here in youtube before and he had like game updates during stream. Really cool if you're into game development. I forgot the name of the guy coz.... Well, I'm not into game development but as far as I remember, he also make other indie games but this one's his masterpiece. Also, this took probably more than 2 years in the making because I remember watching him at the start of covid.

Watching IGP and seeing him read the instructions that the train stops if you hop off while it's moving, intelligent. Seeing Mark ask it mid situation and think he lost the train was priceless.
My favourite part in the entire stream happened at 36:42. Charles approaching from the front and just What do I do? What do I do?! WHAT DO I DO?? WHAT DO I DOOO?! And it just devolves into a mental mark breakdown for half a minute before realizing 'oh hey I can turn the turret the other way'

I already watched this stream as it was live, but I came back to rewatch this because I recently started my own indie-dev career and after learning that this game was made by one person, it absolutely blows my mind how far just having an idea can take you.

As you said it would've taken a long time, with 3D animation you don't have the luxury of frame skip techniques you would with 2D, and rigging a mouth is h e l l. I think not rigging a bunch of mouths was better than trying to rig them all and doing a botched job, as much as I would love lipsync for pickle lady 🥺

I think the funniest part about Mark saying he isn't a completionist is that, aside from collecting the paint cans he completed everything in one go. He did all the side quests, maxed out all his stats, got all the guns, and beat the game.

more horror games need to realise allowing you to have a proper final boss is a good climax to a game and won't detract from the horror. That final battle with Choo CHoo Charles is tense and great.
I think too many horror games get obsessed with the idea of making you helpless which is valid but like giving you ways to fight back doesn't really make things less scary imo
@@BrendenTait8858 A really great way to do that is to add a way to fight back, but with the constant threat of messing up, such as with limited ammo or an AI that attempts different methods of attacking. Imagine if Charles tried to sneak up after a few attempts, or hid beside a part of track you were approaching.
@@BrendenTait8858 Sometimes it does, it really depends on what the consequences for dying are. If you CAN fight back effectively or have a good chance of escaping even after getting noticed then why go through the trouble of sneaking when you can just run through guns out without ever really being punished for it? Even if you mess up what do you lose? A minute of walking? A horror game where there is no real consequence for dying becomes 10 times less scary after the first 2-3 deaths because there really isn't anything to fear.
As an example, Alien: Isolation is a lot scarier than PREY imo, because you get seen you die. Even if you manage to hide in a room the Xenomorph barges in and checks a bunch of hidey-holes while you have to hold your breath to avoid being heard, so it's a lot better to avoid being seen at all. Yes, you have the flamethrower but after a while the AI learns to not fear it as much, so you are screwed anyway. In PREY? You get seen you shoot. Nothing to worry about. "Oh no that box was not a box it was a black blob guess I'll just have to kill it". Much less scary imo.

How did this game get a 4/10?! This is easily a high rated game. Sure, like Mark said, there are a few rough edges here and there, but for a game which has been done by one person - props to you game dev!!! - this is phenomenal. I am looking forward to seeing where this goes in the future :D

So far, the only "complaint" I have about the game is the characters' mouths don't move. But if the dev(s) were on limited time and resources, I can understand and forgive that.
Overall, though, this looks like a beautiful game design wise and I can't wait to see the rest of the video.

I love how humble Markiplier is he always tries to remind us that smaller streamers need our help and how many small streamers he’s helped with their careers and making them big. He always comes off as someone who cares more about others than himself and I just think there’s not a lot of people in the world like that anymore. As much of a horror game as this is, the train sounds and the rain is just some of the most relaxing ambience
As weirdly abstracted this game is, I love this. This is totally a game Mark, Bob and Wade all would enjoy if it was multiplayer, even if it's just them screaming and Wade using and losing all the scrap and them fighting over who's captain. I'd of love this to be a whole playthough. Like if this game was made into a series.

I found this game's dev here in youtube before and he had like game updates during stream. Really cool if you're into game development. I forgot the name of the guy coz.... Well, I'm not into game development but as far as I remember, he also make other indie games but this one's his masterpiece. The fact that one man made this game by himself. I already watched this stream as it was live, but I came back to rewatch this because I recently started my own indie-dev career and after learning that this game was made by one person, it absolutely blows my mind how far just having an idea can take you.
Mark is probably the only UA-camr I know that can spend almost 9 minutes just blathering on without even starting the game and still have fans just adoring him 😂

I can't believe that an indie game can look this good in 2022. Apart from the missing mouth animations its great
it was made by one person so making the month animations would've take a really long time

As you said it would've taken a long time, with 3D animation you don't have the luxury of frame skip techniques you would with 2D, and rigging a mouth is h e l l. I think not rigging a bunch of mouths was better than trying to rig them all and doing a botched job, as much as I would love lipsync for pickle lady 🥺
@@salemsweets9644 that's the thing about modern games, they can be updated. I'd imagine the dev was focused on actually getting the game working and released, and will tweak and update it later

I think that having no mouth animations was a good thing because it was really funny and this game is scary at times so it makes it easier to play for people who are easily scared in my opinion
