Honestly, it's one of the ones you skipped. DBZ: Legend of the Super Saiyan for the Super Famicom is pretty fun once you learn the mechanics. The game having the zenkai boost just built in for the Saiyan characters and being able to break the story by having characters survive to make a what-if continuation of the story was really cool. Only real problem I remember is the encounter rate and the potential to get lost in areas.

I just gotta say, Budokai 3's combo system is actually really deep! You can cancel every charged move in the game, and every character has a fascinating moveset so you can actually keep hitting those combos when cancelling. It really does become a whole different game once you adapt to this playstyle, one of the best DBZ fighting games for sure
Understandably most people that aren't serious into the games would not know the deeper aspects of the Budokai series. When people talk about the Budokai series and are not well versed in the system, it disappoints me. The Combo system is one of them. The system had been in place from the very beginning. It only got better with each installment. Just an example, but you could do something like this with Goku in Budokai 3: - = cancel * = stun ~ = cancel and side step ^ = Juggle p k e = non charge P K E = charge >pkK~ >k* kkkK-
Yeah, the movelist just tells you what combos go into super moves, not your actual punches and kicks. Blew my mind as a kid when I discovered Kid Goku uses the Power Pole in some of his combos, and that you can get Vegito to do his kick combo with his arms folded.

talking about Fighting Games and then saying Budokai 3s combo system is lacking because all he was able to use is an easily punishable combo is hilarious. Combo cancels aside, you don't even need those to see the complexity of Budokai 3s system, wakeup options, chargeable attacks that grant superarmor and break guard, countless char specific strings to use, i-frames of transformations, just because you used PPPPE the whole game doesn't mean that's all there is to it. Then going to Tenkaichi and mentioning not a single gameplay mechanic that actually makes it such a good game, or mention its depth relative to other games, or mention anything besides the camera is also hilarious. It's not the camera that makes Tenkaichi an arena fighter, it's the free movement and gameplay focus on positioning that achieves that. Shin Budokai for the PSP also had an option to put the camera behind the character yet the gameplay was still like Budokai. Saying "BT3 is fun because big roster" is completely disregarding its gameplay qualities that make those chars fun to play. After all, when you ask people what the best racing game is, they don't say "obviously Gran Turismo 6 because it has the most cars", there's a bit more to it than that.
Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was a ton of fun due to basically being a greatest hits of every character across the franchise and duking them out against eachother, no matter how irrelevant or small. And I can’t wait to see that continued with Sparking Zero, and this time with Super characters to boot! Of course, DB FighterZ is what I consider to be flat-out the best DBZ game to how fun and epic it is, along with having tons of crazy tech but being simple enough for anyone to pick up. And I do have plenty of fond memories with the Legacy of Goku and Dragon Ball Origins games due to being the closest to Dragon Ball RPGs. While DBZ Kakarot tried to do something similar, it kinda just felt like a free-roaming version of Xenoverse, and so it sädly didn’t really scratch that same itch for me. It’s at least leagues better than DBZ Sagas though, which tried that same formula much earlier but nowhere near as good, and was the first console DBZ game I played on my OG Xbox due to being the first DBZ game released for it. Talk about a bad first impression… Also RIP Toriyama-sensei, you will be sorely missed.🙏🏽
I only had one DB game growing up, and it was Budokai Tenkaichi 3, so I remember being absolutely stoked when they announced Xenoverse 1! I had a laptop at the time, so I literally used to bring the game with me on the bus to school I loved Xenoverse 1 so much. Those were the good ol days 😂
Huh... No mention of Supersonic Warriors? One was on the GBA and its sequel was on the DS... Basically a 2D version of the Budokai Tenkaichi games which were really fun (though I liked how long the matches lasted in the first game, the second had the life bars go down way too quickly to savor the matches). What's more, Arc System Works made them, so they didn't just come out of nowhere for Extreme Butoden on the 3DS. This is kinda made apparent since Supersonic Warriors 2 started the whole switching characters/assists on the touch screen and one or two songs introduced in SSW2 being brought back in Extreme Butoden.
20:31 as a kid I put so much time k to dragon ball z legendary super warriors. Over 200 hours playing over and over getting all the characters and building decks. Something about that game was addicting, and surprisingly a little bit of depth
Fave DB Games: Advanced Adventure Legacy of Goku 2 + Buu's Fury Hyper Dragon Ball Z (greatest MUGEN game of all time) Shoutouts to Super Dragon Ball Z which I haven't played that much of but I love watching good players play it, and DB Origins which I didn't finish because my DS shit itself but I did really enjoy most of what I played, even if it felt a little bit unnecessarily padded. Pre-Z Dragon Ball is by far my favorite part of the series and seeing it retold in such a lovingly detailed way was very pleasant and I'm a diehard Phantom Hourglass defender so the gameplay was right up my alley as well.
fun fact about the 3ds dbz and one piece games, if you have the dbz one you can play online against someone with the one piece one and vice versa. Pretty cool concept imo
The B3 story mode actually blew my young mind back when I first saw my friend playing it. Exploring the overworld was so fucking cool I begged my grandpa to get it for me
About Burst Limit, the reason this doesn't really get much attention comparatively is because it simplifies many of the mechanics from Shin Budokai and Infinite World, has little content, and adds many cutscenes during gameplay that shows down the pacing of fights heavily
Burst Limit is amazing. Most people don't talk about it because DBZ Games without the Buu Saga is criminal, especially after Tenkaichi 3 did regular Dragon Ball and GT, but Burst Limit's style is the best in the series. Probably even better than FighterZ since it actually tries to be unique and more flavorful rather than trying to just being a cutout of the Manga art, which, while impressive, isn't visually striking or unique.
I have great memories in the early 2000s of playing Super Saiya Densetsu (One of the card battling RPGs you mentioned) on ZSNES without it being translated and trying to guess or use knowledge of the series to figure out what to do. And yes, Hyper Dimension was great too.
i actually REALLY liked supersonic warriors on the gameboy i spent so much time unlocking every character, its also how I learned that majin buu was a thing and could brag to my schoolyard friends to. Unlocking king picollo was frustrating btw
I have yet to watch Dragon Ball but with every one of your uploads I'm drawn closer to watching it. One day, I'll have the courage to jump in. You're killing it with the beard btw!
I destroyed my first PS by Modding it so I could play just that Game. Burnt out my Disk Drive by keeping the Lid Open so I could get it to skip the Region Locking. Great Game and well worth it.
Didn't realize the Nintendo handhelds had so many acclaimed Dragonball games. I didn't play much of the DS and 3DS libraries, so it's always nice to come across some good stuff I missed out on a decade ago.
Okay, this story is kinda wild. I first learned about emulation at around 12-13 years old... at a tennis camp... in Baltimore, MD. There was a kid there who... let's say... was free-spirited. We got on the conversation of DBZ, and he told me about a game he played that was amazing. It ended up being one of the Super Butodens. I had only played GT Final Bout up til then, but I was able to hang out with him after camp one day and play some Sup But. I was sold on it. Then, and AGAIN at 12-13 years old... I learned how to find, download, and use a SNES emulator so that I could play the game at home, since I had recently gotten my own PC. Oh, the viruses. Thank God for McAfee. Anyway, in hindsight that game wasn't one of the best DB games available, but it was integral to my early life and love for anime and console fighters.
That Dragon Ball theme was early US broadcast, it barely saw the light of day and almost no DB fans even knew it existed until Abridged used it in a joke on Fake Namek lol we know the FUNi dub english versions of Mystical Adventure and the ending theme - the same themes used in Japan lol
My son and I have been having a blast playing Budokai Tenkaichi 3, it is an amazing game. There was also a flash game called Dragon Ball Z Tournament that I use to play that was simple but I had some fun with it as a kid.
9:52 Joke's on everyone, Lunch DOES appear in BT3. She's the host of the capsule store iirc, and can appear in both her blue and blonde forms. More respect to the most underrated DB girl. And it'd be interesting to see you make a similar video on Sailor Moon games, since you already talked about Another Story before.
Regarding Tenkaichi 3's story mode, I heard that Tenkaichi 2's story mode was actually closer to what Budokai 3 did with the open world and some people liked it a lot because of that. Even if aside from that, everyone agrees that the gameplay aspect was undoubtedly perfected in Tenkaichi 3. Aaaaaand its great that you mentioned the Legacy of Goku games- my brother had a bootleg copy of the second game which meant that I unfortunately could never save my progress, but I remember having fun with it a handful of times even with that.
No mention of Raging Blast is a sin. Especially after mentioning the Butoden Games and Burst Limit. Disliked. Edit: I’m still disliking due to Raging Blast 2 disrespect, but Attack of the Saiyans in my second favorite game… so shoutout for mentioning it.
Not talking about raging blast should be illegal with this type of vid. I remember being hooked on that game and I loved the budikai and tenchiechi games and grew up with them but raging blast was just as fun.
Just saying, I would have absolutely LOVED a sequel to Attack of the Saiyans that covers the Frieza Saga or Cell Saga, just imagining what they would write to cover the stories just fills me with goose bumps
Real glad you brought up Attack of the Saiyans in the end, i almost thought you'd missed it And yeah a game like that for every arc wouldve been great, almost all of them do have these big stretches of time skipped that could be filled up with so much potential The two years before the android arrival, extended Saiyaman shenanigans, the works Also wish Kakarot wouldve expanded on those, it often felt like the devs meant to but bit off more than they could chew with dev time Makes the many dlc episode support kinda ironic lol
I played a Dragon Ball Z game on Gameboy Color that was like a card battler RPG. I remember it not being great but I played it to completion because it thoroughly told the story of the Buu saga and, at that point, they were airing the Android/Cell saga on Toonami. So its how I learned about what happens in the Buu saga. That and Pojo magazines. Also, the game had cursing and left in a lot of the stuff that was cut from the Toonami airing of the show. I never hear anyone talk about this game. It was released in English. I think after Legacy of Goku, but it was for the OG Gameboy, not the GBA

Talk about a bad first impression…
Also RIP Toriyama-sensei, you will be sorely missed.🙏🏽
I only had one DB game growing up, and it was Budokai Tenkaichi 3, so I remember being absolutely stoked when they announced Xenoverse 1! I had a laptop at the time, so I literally used to bring the game with me on the bus to school I loved Xenoverse 1 so much. Those were the good ol days 😂
Legend has it, there is an Austin behind that beard, and when looking at a full moon, the beard trancends to Super Beard 3.
YES! FINALLY!
Love for Dragon Ball Fusions.
I remember playing DBZ supersonic warriors for the GBA, I had a great time playing it when I was a kid.
In Supersonic Warriors 2 you can change how fast the life bar goes down in the options.
The editing in these videos is amazing.
20:31 as a kid I put so much time k to dragon ball z legendary super warriors. Over 200 hours playing over and over getting all the characters and building decks. Something about that game was addicting, and surprisingly a little bit of depth
Fave DB Games:
Advanced Adventure
Legacy of Goku 2 + Buu's Fury
Hyper Dragon Ball Z (greatest MUGEN game of all time)
Shoutouts to Super Dragon Ball Z which I haven't played that much of but I love watching good players play it, and DB Origins which I didn't finish because my DS shit itself but I did really enjoy most of what I played, even if it felt a little bit unnecessarily padded.
FINALLY YOU ATLEAST TALKED ABOUT BUDOKAI 1! I FINALLY HAVE CLOSURE AFTER ALMOST 5 YEARS!
The B3 story mode actually blew my young mind back when I first saw my friend playing it. Exploring the overworld was so fucking cool I begged my grandpa to get it for me
Fusions and the legacy of goku series were my favorite games. Somthing about a handheld DBZ rpg just hits right.
It's funny because when me and my brother were kids we had no idea Sagas was bad. We absolutely loved that game
I love Legendary Super Warriors! The difficulty and unlockables made it so much more fun
Legendary Super Warriors was actually amazing. Also, first game I played that covered the entire story of DBZ. I really enjoyed playing that one.
Wtf, bro that was such a slick transition to the ad. Kudos 👏
About Burst Limit, the reason this doesn't really get much attention comparatively is because it simplifies many of the mechanics from Shin Budokai and Infinite World, has little content, and adds many cutscenes during gameplay that shows down the pacing of fights heavily
Love the "Field of View" reference with the GT clip there
Burst Limit is amazing.
And yes, Hyper Dimension was great too.
so nice to talk about the good stuff for a change!
i actually REALLY liked supersonic warriors on the gameboy i spent so much time unlocking every character, its also how I learned that majin buu was a thing and could brag to my schoolyard friends to. Unlocking king picollo was frustrating btw
Attack of the saiyans was amazing
supersonic warriors is like 50% of my childhood
26:53 👀😮👁👁 Holy cow I had spoke to soon it seems 😅 well you had just covered it or mentioned SDBZ here and I'm thankful for that.
34:16 - it does (but it's an unlockable). Amazing game, really worth playing and that emulation speed-up key helps a lot xD
I have yet to watch Dragon Ball but with every one of your uploads I'm drawn closer to watching it. One day, I'll have the courage to jump in. You're killing it with the beard btw!
Dragonball Legends should have definitely been mentioned. It rewarded you for actually recreating canon events.
I destroyed my first PS by Modding it so I could play just that Game. Burnt out my Disk Drive by keeping the Lid Open so I could get it to skip the Region Locking. Great Game and well worth it.
I really enjoyed DBZ Supersonic on GBA growing up. Had some really cool what if stories like Piccolo and Demon King Piccolo fusing
Budokai Tenkaichi 2, Legacy of Goku 2, and Kakarot gotta be my favorites
34:13 Actually there is a super saiyan in this game and it's a secret boss
You know nothing of the combo system in Budokai. It’s a mind blowing moment seeing all the stuff you can pull off.
3:55
"And a little Baby Goku wiggling a stick..."
Nonono, Austin, it's either the Power Pole, the Nyoibo, or the "MAGIC STIIIIIICK!!!"
KAIOKENNNNNN.
Bro forgot about Infinite World as the "final Budokai" on PS2 and the Legacy of Goku/Buu's Fury that was really sick on GBA
9:54: Launch was in the game as the Z-item shopkeeper. Not playable of course but definitely there.
I'll always remember Revenge of King Piccolo for that awesome intro song
Burst Limit had my favourite presentation
Beard looking really good man
No mention of Raging Blast is a sin.
Weirdly enough, I'd probably say Sagas is my favorite Dragon Ball game, the multiplayer was just really fun with my brother
Fun fact: Ozotto (the villain of V.R.V.S.) was actually mentioned on the cover of Chapter 429 of the manga in Japan to advertise the game.
Real glad you brought up Attack of the Saiyans in the end, i almost thought you'd missed it
And yeah a game like that for every arc wouldve been great, almost all of them do have these big stretches of time skipped that could be filled up with so much potential
The two years before the android arrival, extended Saiyaman shenanigans, the works
Also wish Kakarot wouldve expanded on those, it often felt like the devs meant to but bit off more than they could chew with dev time
Makes the many dlc episode support kinda ironic lol
I played a Dragon Ball Z game on Gameboy Color that was like a card battler RPG. I remember it not being great but I played it to completion because it thoroughly told the story of the Buu saga and, at that point, they were airing the Android/Cell saga on Toonami. So its how I learned about what happens in the Buu saga. That and Pojo magazines. Also, the game had cursing and left in a lot of the stuff that was cut from the Toonami airing of the show.
I never hear anyone talk about this game. It was released in English. I think after Legacy of Goku, but it was for the OG Gameboy, not the GBA
i've spent way too much time on Supersonic Warriors 2 on DS as a kid, but I still love it, BT3 remains my fav, no suprise
