I traded in my BMW F650GS for a Zero S. I absolutely love it. The speed and instant acceleration never get old. I love the silence when stopped at lights etc, no sound, no heat, no vibration. I thought that I would miss the noise but within 30 seconds on my test ride at English Electric I was hooked. Yes, it is not ideal to tour on with the limited range and the charge times, but I have done a few 200+ mile rides though albeit with some planning around charge stops. I am about to fit pannier rails, panniers, screen, bar risers etc to make it into a more useful tourer. I knew before I bought it that it was not ideal, but I like being an early adopter, I like technology, plus the running costs are miniscule. I figured that if I waited for a bike that can do 200 miles and can charge in 20 mins, I could be waiting for another 5 years or more. So I pulled the trigger and bought an ex-demo one last year and don't regret it at all. I have found that some bikers are dead against electric, but most are genuinely interested. I say to all naysayers "don't knock it until you've tried it".
I was inspired by long way round too. I don’t like when people pick at them for having filming crew. These guys showed me how amazing bike trip can be. I got a bike, I found a wife because of that bike, who is biker her self. Now we travel together and watch long way round once in a time as an easy watching good old classic.
I agree with Sam , the Long way round and down inspired a lot of people. Who cares if they had a support vehicle , they brought a lot of people into adventure bike riding and fair play to them. They inspired me 👏Charley Boorman is a legend in my eyes!
Well done guys. I agree with Sam, Charlie Boorman is a great ambassador and influencer for motorcycling. And BTW, Charlie and Ewan didn’t want the film crew. It was because of Ewan’s insurance that they had to have a doctor and other support - read about it, it will change your view on Long Way Round.
I'm from the 'better to travel than to arrive' school of biking- I hate getting off my bike. Everyone needs to do Hardknott, just to check their buttocks still work.
Bottom line is, it doesnt matter who got who into adventure motorcycling, only that they did..... The Goldwing looks nice, but looking at it I wonder...looks like those panniers might not be removable, I could be wrong, but I traded in my NT700 for that reason...plus I wanted a different bike because I, like Sam watched the Long Way Round, looked at the NT and thought great bike, but off road, no, just no. Sadly pocket said no to a 1250GS so you can all laugh at me on a vstrom 650XT instead, does what I ask of it though....
I tried the zero a while ago and I thought for the price the controls and plastics felt very cheap and tacky plus given its battery ,no facility for gps or phone charging as standard.

It's great that it presented different electric bike options, I haven't heard about those before! :)

We always appreciate opinions from our viewers thank you. Helps to give a rounded perspective!
Perhaps if all the presenters held a cup of tea, they wouldn’t constantly waive their arms about when talkings!
