In this video, I talk about my real-world experience with the Apple Silicon M1 MacBook Air after 9 months. We did a 3 months review and a 6 month review of the M1 MBA but getting closer to 1 year I wanted to cover what has changed in the market in terms of windows laptops as well as Apples other devices and upcoming M2 MacBook Air and M1X MacBook Pro's and M1X iMacs.
Apple Also released the M1 iPad Pro and that has also affected the MacBook Air. I also touch on whats specs you should buy like 8GB vs 16GB RAM and 256GB vs 512GB of SSD space which to buy.
Another big topic is Battery life and 7 core vs 8 core graphics GPU which are big questions for those looking at M1 MacBook Air vs M1 MacBook Pro. I own both of these and I cover which Macbook you should buy in 2021.
I also touch on M1 MacBook Air vs 16" MacBook Pro in 2021. If you watch this video all the way throgh you will know which if the M1 MacBook Air is for you.

I can go to Dubai for $500 with round trip and buy a MacBook with free airpods and come back to my country which would cost $500+$899 = $1399🤣. I can travel with extra $200. What a great idea!

It's tough for intel to get this performance because they are only a chip manufacturer. They have to make chips that can be used a by a wide variety of laptops. On the other hand, the M1 is only made for apple devices, which lets them make it much more efficient and powerful.
There's a reason why intel and amd cannot possibly compete with the M1, they are targetted at different type of devices altogether.

I have been a Mac user for more than 10 years and being an Engineer I have worked a lot on Troubleshooting and Fixing Macs as well. Mac OS used to be very stable and advance. But I am really disappointed and frustated since I got M1 Pro and used macOS Monterey and Ventura. Below are my comments:

For older Macbook Users:
    1. MacOS used to be very stable and updates used to happen in night while Mac is on sleep, After M1, updates comes several times a month and take many hours everytime to complete.
    2. The MacOs after Big Sur has became very very buggy and remained buggy even till now (Ventura).
    3. In the last 5 years, the OS hardly has any big feature updates. Windows 11 now have really superior UI and features.
    4. I never needed to visit Apple Care, Internet Recovery was one of the best thing Mac have. But now they have removed Internet Recovery and incase if OS corrupts(Happening very frequently since M1 and Big Sur OS), you have no other option that visiting Apple Care.
5.Even having another latest Mac with Apple Configurator doesn't works in most of the cases to restore the problematic Mac.
6.No Internet Recovery or Booting from External Pendrive incase if any problem comes of want to downgrade to previous version of MacOS.
For New Mac Users or wannabe Mac users:
    1. The only reason you should buy a Mac is for show off. There is no other reason to buy a Mac currently. (Good Windows 11 Laptops are better in all ways.)
    2. macOS is currently hell buggy (Far more than Windows 11 on good laptops), with Not even half of the features available when compared to Windows 11.
    3. If the macOS update fails and corrupts(Happening very frequently since M1 and Big Sur OS), you will need to visit Apple Care. They have made M1 Macs in a way that No Local Shop or Internet Tutorial will be able to help you.
    4. Be ready to consume around 50 - 100GB of data and many many hours of your time every month on OS Updates (You will not find any new feature even after updating).
    5. Most of the Devices will not support well, No possibility of good gaming.
6.Cannot make multiple partitions properly. Fingerprint supports only 3-5 different fingers max.
7.If any app even gets a small update, it may take several minutes for Mac to verify that app until you can starting using that app again.
8.For most of the simple simple things, you will need to use Terminal Commandline because UI is not available for many of the Settings. (For example if you want to do a big download and make sure that Mac doesn’t go to sleep even if you close the lid by mistake)
If show off is not a factor, Get a Windows laptop with much more better OS, Features and Hardware capbilities in much lesser price.

Since the M1 Air came out I've been saying I wanted to wait until M1X to see comparisons, but for $850, it's really hard to justify paying what would be twice as much. Granted, it would be $1050 with the 16gb RAM upgrade, but still. So now I'm waiting for the M2 Air, with hopes of the better camera, slightly more power (7-year futureproof?), and.. maybe another port? Really wish Apple went back to 10 years ago and had every useful port on every laptop instead of screwing people over for financial gain. I freaking hate dongles. I always run into a situation where I need a freaking dongle and don't happen to have it on me, taped to the back of the iphone or something ridiculous. Who knew a headphone jack would be such a luxury -_-

I've learned to constantly eyeball the activity monitor to avoid getting the dreaded out of memory notification, which kept happening at first. Now I'm careful NOT to keep more than a few safari tabs or programs open at once (my favorite programs are Word, Adobe Reader, iTunes, Evernote, Kindle, and sometimes Amazon Music). So it feels a bit like babysitting. It is doable but I do wish I could upgrade and all would be perfect but at least I have something since my Pro screen developed pink and green lines on the display--I needed something (Mac) fast and this fit the bill.

I agree with with everything said in this review. I have a MacBook Air with 2 Tb SSD and 16 Gb RAM. I bought it in December of 2020 and have been using it every day since. I thought that the 13-inch screen would be too small and bought a LG 24-inch screen for home use, which was more than sufficient. Although the MacBook Air is supposed to display to only one additional screen, it turns out that I can display to my second generation iPad Pro 12.9 inch through side-car and the three screens are more than enough for any work. Two weeks ago, I bought an M1 iPad Pro 11” with 512 Gb SSD. When I am traveling, I use my M1 iPad Pro 11-inch to give myself additional screen space. Due to the greater speed of both devices, I find that the M1 MacBook Air and M1 iPad Pro 11” combination to be better than my old MacBook Pro 15” and iPad Pro 12.9”. The new iOS system makes exchanging files between the two devices easier. The combined weight of the M1 MacBook Air and the M1 iPad Pro 11” is less than 4 lb. Finally, I use the much faster WiFi and 5G cell speed of the M1 iPad Pro 11”, as well the higher resolution camera of the latter, to do Zoom calls and give high resolution lectures and press interviews with center stage.

Maybe I’m old school, but 9 months isn’t really a “long term” timeline for a Mac. 3 years would be “long term” in my opinion, but most Macs should last you at least 4 or 5. My MacBook Pro is from 2009, and it still runs pretty well, even using El Capitan.

I wasn’t too impressed with computers until I got my first MacBook (Air M1). Rather than spend the extra money on a Pro with 256GB, I opted to spend the extra money on 512GB. I could tell right away that I had bought a high quality computer - it just feels premium. Apple found a way to mass produce a rare combination these days - quality and class.

M1 MBA Is great, but I do want to say that after 1 month of using it, the compatibility issue still persists. My sumsang t5 ssd still can’t be recognized unless using a dongle; some old VGA monitor doesn’t work with it but the older 2017 MBP can; my master 2s mouse’s custom buttons don’t work properly in Bluetooth. You might ask who still use a VGA monitor, but I just wanna point out that: despite everyone is saying good things about the M1 MBA, the machine is yet not perfect at its early age. Hope developers follow up with M1 native apps soon, and apple makes the M1 compatibility better and better

The MacBook Air comes with the 8 core cpu and 8 core gpu configuration just like the MacBook Pro. The thing is the MacBook Air will generate some heat during intensive tasks but you can certainly put some very high quality thermal tape over the heat sink like Max already did which puts it on par with the MacBook Pro and in some cases better due to the heat sink being larger than the MacBook pros.

But if you have an assignment due by a certain time and you have to do an update beforehand...it could cost you a solid 30+ minutes to get your computer running right.
