This is the original Space Quest 6 Let's Play from 2011; all the original videos were combined into a single video, and upscaled to 1440p. This Let's Play had no corrupted videos, but I still wanted to upload a compilation of it to complete the series. Since this game was originally in SVGA (640x480), I experimented with whether to use smooth scaling or point scaling. While smooth scaling looked okay for some of the backgrounds, this game still has a lot of sharply aliased lines and pixel-arty designs. So, smooth scaling ended up looking more like blurry pixel art rather than actually smooth, so I went with point scaling instead. You may also remember that I added some Indiana Jones music to a scene in part 36, which is removed for this version, as UA-cam decided to copyright strike it on this video (nobody tell them about the original, as it is still copyright-strike free). With Space Quest completed (and no more corrupted videos in other Let's Plays, that I know of), it's time to decide what series I'll give this treatment to next. You'll just have to wait and see!
I'd actually love to see you play the ega versions of Kings quest 1 and Space quest 1, just to get your thoughts on the most basic of beginnings. That said, I adore your kings quest and police quest playthroughs, so either one would be my hope :)
Thank you! I don’t know what makes me so excited to see those SQ Let’s Plays get re-released combined. As for your decision- I always wanted to see you Let’s Play the Quest for Glory series, or Freddy Pharkas. 🐉🤠
Thanks, chief! Actually seeing these compilations appear have given me a spark to revisit these old Let's Plays (it's likely been years!). And wow, this has been so much fun to watch after a while - not to mention I once again now know what "churlish" means. 😄Best of autumn to you!
I remember watching these years ago, way before I had a UA-cam account. Your Space Quest and Portal 2 play throughs are my ultimate comfort videos, I still rewatch to this day
@fliesatdawn Not as surprising as it seems. A lot of the game feels stapled together, like it's a series of random events that just happen to give you exactly what you need to continue, which it is. From the arcade, where there is zero indication that you'll get money until you already have the cheat sheet, to the static electricity carpet, to the final boss solution. You do them because they are there, not that it makes sense to do them, which indicates that no one unfamiliar with the game playtested it all the way through even once. It feels very rushed. I love the humour and the references, and Gary Owens is always a treat, but it's easy to see why Scott said it should have been cancelled.
Cool! All the Sierra * Quest games would have me stumped when I was a kid so it never gets old just seeing the solution. Amazing actually that the play through is almost 10 hours!
To be fair, if you are the sort of person who self-describes as an evil overlord, you are the sort of person who would ignore the Evil Overlord List's advise because nobody tells you what to do.
Thanks for the new compilation and I agree with you, it sucks that SQVI reset Roger back to janitor, they even get the facts wrong about the Eureka and Goliath while demoting him.
I prefer SQ 4-6, vs. the first 3, which may be a hot take. Although this may be considered a weaker entry in the series, I've always appreciated it. At the very least, the cartoony art style was better implemented over KQ7. I think the number of funny "look" descriptions (in the early game) is stronger than any other entry in the series. The voice acting for Roger is a big step up from the staff acting of SQ4. Many puzzles may be poorly implemented and unfair compared to other entries but I still enjoy the game overall and have finished it several times.
@@TheInkPitOx Yes. It got me familiar with the parts of the digestive system all of which I had to name (along with other body systems) for the final test.
I've always enjoyed this game simple because it was the first space quest I played and finding it at a flea market while spending the summer with my grandparents.
What the writers got wrong during the court martial was: 1: Roger didn't abandoned his post, he was contacted to gather trash at Klorox 2 and even had a superior officer give him orders to investigate the surface so to speak. Kirk----er----Quark was pretty much a goner anyway due to the bad soup. So yeah the Court Martial was nothing more than a reset button.
It really is a shame. SQ5 is my favorite in the series, though I rate SQ1VGA and SQ4 nearly as highly. SQ6 does have special nostalgic appeal to me, though, because it was actually the first SQ game I ever played. My mom bought it for me from the bargain bin at Wal-Mart. It's also the funniest of the bunch (second on that list is SQ1VGA), thanks, no doubt, to Josh Mandel's influence. SQ6 is such a mixed bag in so many ways, but I still love it.
@@ludicerX There's so much more they could have done with Roger being a Garbage Scowl Captain, heck we could have had The Ericka-A or 2, Maybe have a Space Quest 6: The Wrath of Zhondra, a tail of revenge due to Roger stealing her debit card and draining her account.
I know, and I hate it. I'm not 100% sure but I think that Murphy felt that Roger shouldn't be more than a janitor, so he just went with a lame excuse to undo the changes Crowe made. I don't blame Mandel because, if I understand correctly and have my facts straight, Mandel came up with this story BEFORE SQ5 was made, and it was rejected at first. So this could have been SQ5's story instead, which would have been better than having Crowe make a great game that developed Roger as a character and gave him a fun supporting cast...only for Murphy to come along and say "I'm making the next one and I don't like this. I'm going to tweak Josh's story idea a bit so that it resets everything, and I'm not going to have the SQ5 supporting cast in my game at all outside of the occasional reference to the absent Beatrice." If I have any of this wrong please someone let me know. But I believe that's how it happened, and the Two Guys had something of a falling out which didn't help matters.
About that "warning to phenylketonurics": that does actually make sense. Phenylalanine is not toxic: it is an essential amino acid that occurs in milk, but is indeed dangerous if you have that rare disease.
6 wasn't terrible, but it was a big step down from 5. Sierra had an unfortunate track record of the final game in each of their classic series being a bit of a disappointment when compared to it's predecessor.
I'm just starting to watch this, JUST because I like Sven's commentary. I watched it before when it was all separate videos and by the end I was thinking "Oh lord, they should have ended it with SQ5. Mark Crowe is definitely the more talented of the Two Guys."
Even though Gary Owen’s was as spectacular as ever at his performance in this game, the overall premise and astounding done-deafness of this game make it… well… a Philips CDi Zelda of SpaceQuests
Yeah, Owens always did a great job while he was still with us. But I believe that not even Gary Owens could make this measure up to ANY of the previous games.
It occurs to me that the "Beverage Crusher" self-administered balloon angioplasty thing in the database might have been intended as a hint for the alveoli/cholesterol puzzle. Of course, that hint can only be found on the DeepShip, not Stellar's body, and it isn't especially helpful if you don't know what alveoli _are._ If the narrator or Roger commented that they were basically little balloons, you might have been able to put it together.
While I don't like the characterization of Roger as much in this one, it's somewhat understandable given his massive demotion. I don't like the demotion, though. It feels like it tries to undo all of Roger's character growth. The game DEFINITELY feels rushed and unfinished. A lot of quests, puzzles, and story beats feel very thrown together, and most of the key plot points make zero sense under even the barest scrutiny. That said, I still appreciate 6 because it has some extremely funny moments, and it brings back Gary Owens.

Blade Runner?
I'd like to thank you for your recent reuploads of the SpaceQuest let's plays, especially those that had become corrupted. So, to quote Captain Kielbasa, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
😂 Kielbasa - that is Sausage in Polish.
As someone who never has had the pleasure of playing any Space Quest games, I’m looking forward to watching all of these videos….ill be back!
SQ6 finally, each compilation gets longer and im in for the long haul
Just saw that Gary Owens passed in 2015. What a legend.
his narration adds a LOT. he really did have a golden voice.

1:41:30 ROFL at Roger talking and whistling at the same time :) :) sometimes the unintentional humor is every bit as good as what was intended
These videos have been perfect to revisit your LP videos while working - thank you so much for these compilations!
Absolutely insane that they didn't include the solution to the homing beacon in the game.

34:34 this whole part is a reference to the movie Young Frankenstein, and a tribute to Marty Feldman.
Great let's plays! These videos got me into Space Quest back in the day.

Very nice! thanks for the upload sir! I plan to catch up on some games you played this weekend. Already have the snacks ready. 👍
2:19:50 “Can we print this?” *clicks Print button* “It does nothing.” The most realistic part of the entire game.

Josh Mandel, who was in charge of the game until he left Sierra, is amazing at all the background descriptions. Some great humor in this game.
4 and 6 are really a callback to how doofy scifi can be and, well... has gary owens.
This game helped me pass my human biology final in college.
Space Quest 6?

@AzurGamer81 He also didn't return the SCS Eureka, he blew it up to save the Goliath.

How sad that never was part 7...

Even though I know all these playthroughs by heart, the higher resolution and compressed playlist freshen the experience.
9 hours? No wonder I never finished watching this.
My town has a liquor store on Beaver St. aptly named Beaver Liquors.
Man I spent 11 years working at Dimtel. Never knew we made subspace emitters :)
You could also do Freddy Pharkas
That's a good game, I second the motion. 🙂
Re the crew's excitement at visiting such a heap of a planet, maybe it's because the DeepShip 86 is just _that bad._

Both times Stellar showed up only after Roger had already saved himself
Perhaps your next LP could be Torin's Passage
The punnnnssss omlord
Now that I'm older certain parts of this game are so much more gross XD
Oh I did with the blockage because I'd just learned about the medical version and when the game said they reminded him of tiny balloons I went Oh!
3:20:30 it just occurred to me it would be physically impossible to raise those blinds. Then again there probably isn't even a window behind it.
