I regularly use these space quest playthroughs for falling asleep, and desperately wish dan would do more solo stuff like this. The grumps are dope as a duo, but Dan's chill vibes really help me off to sleep

This game actually has a really good sense of self aware humour, and paired with dan's natural comedic talents, this is a wonderful episode.

I still remember how excited I was, back in the day, when my parents purchased SQ3 for me and my brothers (playing it on my parents' 286, which was state-of-the-art for its time, but is now a very old computer) :) after we enjoyed SQ 1 and 2. That opening animation of Roger Wilco climbing out of the escape pod was a thing of beauty. :) I also remember how irritated I was when I discovered that you need to get the ladder to continue the game; I mean yeah, "you jam the ladder into your pocket. Ouch!" is a good gag, but it's not something I would intuitively think I could pick up. I needed the hint book for that one. :P
Also, there's an alternate way to get rid of the Terminator. There's a door on the side of the giant mechanical beast on top of the tourist trap which takes you inside the inner workings of the machine. If you lure the Terminator in there, you can knock him into the gears and he gets ground up and you can get the invisibility belt without the need of the orat-on-a-stick. Also, also, I seem to remember that if you put the Astro Chicken hat on before you leave the tourist trap, it sprouts wings and flies away the first time the Terminator grabs you. :D
Also, also, also, I learned recently from watching Yahtzee's playthrough of this game that it's possible to win the game without ever visiting Monolith Burger (and not getting the secret message that tells you the two guys were kidnapped by Scumsoft) which would make for super confusing gameplay, since you would have no idea what you were doing or why. :P (And do you really only have to play Astro Chicken a certain number of times to get the secret message? O_o I thought you had to win it! I put so much friggin' effort into that game! Soooo much time wasted when I was a kid) :|
Dan's silky smooth voice and positive outlook on life just makes this so relaxing and enjoyable.

This is one of my favourite episodes of game grumps, because it helps me fall asleep. I have troubles sleeping at night, but listening to Dan's soft voice do what is essentially an ASMR Letsplay is really helpful for me.
I'm serious, despite the fact that I've probably watched this video dozens and dozens of times I've rarely gone past the first 5-10 minutes before the combination of his voice alongside the 8 bit sound effects lulls me to sleep. It's fantastic.
The Monolith Burger in III, the Galleria in IV, the SpaceBar in V... I loved these locations so much and would also spend time dreaming space was filled with things like that.

Loving all the references you get to see in these games, my fav so far is around 20:12 with the Pod from 2001 A Space Odyssey. Thank you Dan! Might never have seen these gems elsewise.
These Sierra playthroughs are my favorite and I hope for the Grumps or just Dan to play more adventure games. I put on the just Dan playthroughs to relax so often. They really help me when I'm feeling lost or stressed to my limit. Love you guys so much and thank you for all the amazing content.

Interesting. The solo-grump videos show an Arin who is very personal and Candid whereas he's a bit more of a storyteller when it's both grumps. Inversely, the usually personal and open grump, becomes more of a storyteller when grumping alone. Perhaps a reflection of what each of them sees as an ideal grump performance?

I mean, Dan has always been a storyteller too, remember really early on when he replaced Jon? What made him so different was all of the stories he told and how he told them.
Yes, but I more mean stylistically. His stories have always been very personal, whereas Arin has always been more of a showman. It's that showman type of storytelling Dan is employing more here.
Johnyliltoe dan also does the non personal storytelling with ross too. it seems like something about dan makes arin talk more about the game, which makes dan allow him to take over that front, thus dan becomes more personal.

It was also used during a commercial of theirs I believe where Arin died and he was like "finally I am grump and not so grump" and that intro played. Dan just made me realize something pretty cool. This game was made in 1989 (the year I was born), mentioning that he was 10 at the time. Him running around as a kid at 10 when I was just a wee baby made the thought of him more of an actual, tangible person, instead of just thinking of an entity on my computer screen. It just made me more-so realize that we live on the same planet with some of the coolest and most inspirational people. Love you guys, you both have made me laugh some of the hardest laughs I've ever laughed.

I just want to point out that I've watched Dan's play through of Space Quest I, II, and III so many times that I can now play and beat all three games just from memory alone. Absolutely love these games and Dan's play through of them. Thank you Mark Crowe and Scott Murphy for these glorious games.
