Hey Chris, I've got a 2001 E350 (4x4 conversion), the speedometer/odometer just stopped working. My mechanic thinks it may be the "abs module". Is the abs module a seperate part from either the PCM or IDM? thanks
Can anyone tell me if the IDM has a mount or is bolted directly to the fender? My new used 7.3 E350 2003 is missing an IDM, I ordered one, but I don't know if it needs a mount! Thanks
The IDM is in the dumbest place Ford could have possibly put it. I worked on hundreds of E350 cut-a-ways with the PSD throughout the years they were offered and the IDM was one of the most common failures. Its position under the fender allowed it to get wet from rain running through the gap of fender and hood. They are NOT sealed as well as they should be and would fill up with water. Next thing you know the van is running on 4 cylinders. When you remove them you can hear the water sloshing around inside like a half empty soda bottle. Besides that and the cam position sensor though, both of which are easy to change, they were some of the best and most reliable engines we had in the fleet. Way more power without the cavitation issues of the IDI and beat the 6.5 Chevy by a mile to say nothing of the sad little 6.2.

@@suttergorilla It's been a long time since I've worked on one, but if I remember correctly there is a single bolt(with a ground strap on it as well) that secures the IDM in place.
@@jamesgill5511 Thanks for speedy reply. Any chance a piece like this was attached? www.ebay.com/itm/7-3-Powerstroke-Diesel-F81F-12B635-AB-IDM-100-120-MOUNT-BRACKET-FENDER-Mount-OEM/193369026553?hash=item2d05b12ff9:g:KXIAAOSwgFleEKtG&autorefresh=true

Where is the BCM? By the way, they’re also in the same place in gas and CNG engines. I have both of those.
