      @@01.......... The recurring C0298 and P1120 codes, even after fixing a damaged wire, suggest that there may still be an underlying issue with the wiring or connectors. Here’s what each code generally means and what could be causing them to reappear:
      C0298 Code: This code is typically related to the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) or the Stability System. It often indicates an issue in the EBCM circuit, such as a bad ground, poor connection, or damaged wiring.
      P1120 Code: This code often points to a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor issue. It can mean a problem in the wiring or connection to the sensor, or even an issue with the sensor itself.
      Since you've already repaired a damaged wire, the fact that the codes return after cycling the ignition might suggest:
      1)Loose or corroded connectors: The repaired wiring might be good, but a connector could be loose, corroded, or otherwise not making a consistent connection.
      2) Faulty ground: Many electrical issues stem from a poor ground connection. Double-check the ground points related to the EBCM and TPS sensors.
      3) Damaged sensor or module: If the wiring and connections seem solid, the sensors or control modules themselves (EBCM or TPS) could be faulty.
      Troubleshooting Steps
      1) Inspect Connectors: Unplug and check all relevant connectors for the TPS and EBCM for corrosion, bent pins, or looseness. Clean and reseat them.
      2) Check Ground Connections: Locate and clean the ground connections associated with the EBCM and TPS circuits.
      3) Test Sensor Output: If possible, check the output voltage from the TPS sensor to ensure it's consistent and within the specified range.
      4) Check Wiring Continuity: Use a multimeter to test for continuity from the repaired wire to the sensor/module and to the ECM to confirm there are no other breaks or shorts in the line.

    I’ve got an 06 Chrysler 300c. It’s the hemi. Getting code p0300. Wouldn’t idle when I first got it just kept stalling. It’s got no cats on it. I changed the spark plugs and coil packs an it started up an ran fine! I got cats for it an I was only able to get passenger side cat on. Gonna have to have a shop do the driver side but now the p0300 code is back and the car will idle but when u put it in gear it stalls out. Didn’t have this issue until I put passenger cat on? Need some suggestions! Gonna change out the fuel injectors next but what would be your advice?

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  Рік тому

      I recommend to inspect your fuel injectors as well as ignition coils. P0300 code is usually triggered due to a misfire and a faulty ignition coil or fuel injector may also lead to misfire..

    I have replaced coolant sensor 3 times and wiring is perfect and truck stalls then starts and runs rich and check engine light is on with no codes any idea's

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  Рік тому +2

      The issues you're experiencing may be due to a faulty fuel system, a problematic mass airflow sensor, or an issue with your truck's powertrain control module (PCM). Each of these can cause a rich fuel condition and stalling, even if the coolant sensor and wiring are functioning properly. However, it's unusual to have a check engine light without any diagnostic trouble codes. It could be a sign of a failing PCM. Remember, this is just a starting point, and a thorough diagnosis by a professional mechanic is recommended.

    I had a '05 VW Jetta, it stalled while i was driving on the street. Code P2177 popped up, so i changed fuel pump, MAF sensor, clean fuel injectors and replaced spark plugs. My last resort was the PCM was bad, but wasnt sure because the part was $600. But hearing the beginning of the video you said it also plays a part in the AC (which also was another problem). I changed the AC compressor, AC relay, ac radiator fan, vacuumed and charged it. So do you think it was the PCM the whole time?

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  Рік тому

      Yeah, it is possible that your PCM is faulty because a faulty PCM may also trigger a false code. It is recommended to consult a professional mechanic.

    I have taken my Kia Rio to 4 different shops and they can’t figure out what is wrong. It turns and acts like it’ll start, but won’t. I have changed the gas tank, spark plugs, new battery, camshaft, and crankshaft. The last mechanic said it has to be the ecm but wasn’t sure. He said he didn’t have the time to go to junk yard and the other 3 shops told me to just buy another car. I can’t cause I ended up hurting my back and doctor won’t release me to work so I can’t get another car being a single mom. Any ideas? The problem before this was when I put gas into car would die and take several times to start. Also was running code p0343, p0650, p0016, p0172, & p0456. I fixed all but the p0172,p0456 & p0650. After clearing the codes I only get p0650. I thought about replacing ECU then if that didn’t help change the canister purge valve.

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  Рік тому

      I cant tell you the main issue with your car without its proper inspection. Basically, p0650 is set when the vehicle's Powertrain Control Module detects a fault with the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) electrical circuit.

    I need help please anyone ever got this symthoms start the vehicle let it run in about 15 20 minutes just randomly dies and try start back it would crank just like when u have a faulty fuel pump but i put new fuel pump , coolants temperature sensor, fuel rail sensor, oxygen sensors but what make me think it the pcm i unplugged airflow sensor car did not turned off after the car die i have to wait for atleast 15 minute for it to start back

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  29 днів тому

      @@fredlafleur4996 Based on your description, there could be a few reasons why your vehicle is randomly shutting off and then refusing to start for about 15 minutes. Since you've replaced several components, including the fuel pump, coolant temperature sensor, fuel rail sensor, and oxygen sensors, let’s evaluate the possible causes systematically:
      Symptoms Analysis
      1) Randomly dies after 15-20 minutes: Indicates something is failing as the engine warms up.
      2) Won't start but cranks: Suggests an electrical, fuel delivery, or sensor issue.
      3) Runs when the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) is unplugged: Points toward a possible issue with the MAF or its interaction with the PCM.
      Possible Causes
      1) PCM (Powertrain Control Module):
      If the PCM is faulty or overheating, it can cause the engine to shut down and not restart until it cools down.The PCM controls engine timing, fuel injection, and sensors like the MAF. If unplugging the MAF prevents the stalling, the PCM may be compensating for a sensor miscommunication.
      2) Crankshaft Position Sensor:
      A failing crankshaft position sensor can behave exactly as described-working fine until it warms up, then causing the engine to die and refuse to start until it cools down.
      Look for stored trouble codes related to the crankshaft or camshaft sensors.
      3) Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF):
      The fact that unplugging the MAF allows the car to keep running is significant. It could mean the MAF is faulty or the PCM is not interpreting its signal correctly.
      Try cleaning or replacing the MAF if not already done.
      4) Ignition System:
      A failing ignition coil or module can also shut the engine off after warming up.
      Test the coils or ignition module for heat-related failure.
      5) Fuel System (Despite New Pump):
      Fuel injectors or fuel pressure regulators might be malfunctioning.
      Test the fuel pressure when the car refuses to start to ensure it's within specifications.
      6) Electrical/Relays:
      A failing main relay (often called the ECM relay or fuel pump relay) could cause these symptoms. Heat may cause internal contacts to fail, cutting off power to critical systems.
      Next Steps
      1) Run a Diagnostic Scan:
      Check for stored error codes using an OBD2 scanner. This can pinpoint issues with sensors like the crankshaft position sensor, MAF, or PCM.
      2) Test the Crankshaft Position Sensor:
      Use a multimeter to test its resistance or a scanner to monitor its signal while the engine is running.
      3) Inspect the MAF Sensor:
      Clean the MAF sensor using a dedicated MAF cleaner. If cleaning doesn’t help, try replacing it temporarily to rule it out.
      4) Test Ignition Coils and Relays:
      Check the ignition coils for weak spark after the vehicle stalls.
      Test relays with a multimeter to ensure they aren't heat-sensitive.
      5) Inspect PCM and Wiring:
      Look for signs of overheating or corrosion around the PCM.
      Check ground connections and harnesses for damage or poor contact.
      Why PCM May Be the Culprit
      The PCM is directly involved in processing inputs from various sensors (MAF, crankshaft, oxygen sensors) and controlling the engine.
      If the PCM has an intermittent fault, especially heat-related, it can cause random stalling and hard starts.
      If diagnostic tests point to the PCM, you may need to reprogram or replace it. Ensure that wiring and grounds are intact before committing to a PCM replacement

    great info thank you, i have vw mk5 R32 having this P0351 code its intermittent misfire with rough idle, changed new coil original vw and all spark plugs changed and connectors. i can see a strong spark out of the coil for cylinder 1. how likely this issue is caused by a faulty ECU and if its the ecu would the coil still fire normally and constantly maybe signal sent wrong from ecu? the only code coming is P0351 would appreciate your feedback

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  Рік тому

      A P0351 trouble code is specific to the ignition coil "A" primary/secondary circuit, and it typically indicates a problem with the ignition system for cylinder 1. An Engine Control Unit (ECU) issue can indirectly cause a P0351 code, as the ECU plays a crucial role in controlling the ignition system. The ECU is responsible for controlling the ignition timing for each cylinder. If the ECU malfunctions and doesn't send the correct signals to the ignition coil for cylinder 1, it can cause misfires or erratic spark timing, leading to the P0351 code.

    I’ve got a 99’ Ford mustang Gt. I’ve replaced fuel pump. Fuel filter. Injectors. Alternator. Fuses. Still will not start. Cranks and tries to start but it can’t. Fuel pump is working too. Says no communication to the pcm. I’ve done everything else. Will buying and installing a pcm make it run?

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  Рік тому

      Before buying new PCM, you should test your old PCM using a best suitable scan tool. And also check the software of your PCM because in some cases, PCM start to create issues because its software needs to be update

I have a code reader and it’s says pcm/ecu is not registering data correctly. I am positive this is it. Thanks

    My 2008 mazda mx5 blows 15A engine fuse when i turn on the ignition switch and scanner says error code u0100 that is for lost communication with pcm and don't know if its a pcm problem cause sometimes the car was running fine then the performance drops and have to rev up but at around 4k rpms the car just dies randomly and the fuse keeps blowing and nobody wants to work on so i'm here 😢

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  5 місяців тому +1

      The issues with your 2008 Mazda MX-5 blowing the 15A engine fuse and showing a U0100 error code, indicating lost communication with the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), can be challenging to diagnose.
      1) A short circuit or ground issue in the wiring harness connected to the PCM can cause the fuse to blow.
      2) A malfunctioning PCM can cause intermittent communication issues and might lead to the fuse blowing.
      3) A shorted sensor or actuator connected to the PCM
      4) Poor ground connections can lead to intermittent communication issues.
      Ensure all ground connections are secure and free of corrosion.
      If the problem persists after these steps, it might be necessary to seek professional help from a mechanic or automotive electrician, as they have the tools and experience to diagnose and fix complex electrical issues.

    Where is the pcm located in a 2012 ford F150

    • @MechanicalBoost
      @MechanicalBoost  8 місяців тому

      In a 2012 Ford F-150, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is typically located under the hood, near the engine compartment. It is often positioned on the firewall, on the passenger side of the vehicle. However, it's always a good idea to consult the vehicle's manual or a repair guide for the exact location, as it can vary slightly depending on the specific model and configuration of the truck.
