I use a lot of sticky honey-based watercolours, and always put them in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes before unwrapping. It's just enough time to get a coffee and some clean water ready for a good swatching session. It genuinely works and does no damage to the paint or wrapping. It's also great for any paint being transported in summer.

What an exciting haul!! Thank you for finding best prices as we “add to our collection” of everything watercolor (what I focus on)…
You were the one who got me started with Jackson’s years ago when we could add samples of different art supplies for basically nothing…. Plus, the savings I’m a big bargain buyer (almost as exciting as the product…key word‘almost’…lol
I’m looking forward to trying this new store❤
I bought the cochineal red and anotherpalette from the retro series (the one with tubes) but I think the one you bought has the nicest looking palette due to the deep wells!!
Plus, I think the gold logo on the front is kinda classy.
I’ve been trying to decide which gold pigment powder to purchase.
I don’t like a harsh gold or yellow gold. Your taste is usually “spot on”.
If you could only purchase one, which would you recommend?
    Thank you again, Stephanie ❤
Blessings to you and your family,
    Nancy Rolfe

Thank you so much, Nancy! So nice to "see" you again! Yes, I'm the same! I think every purchase I make is even more exciting, as I find my wish list items all for the best prices. I'm so glad you were able to get some of the samples from Jackson's! They used to have so many, and now don't seem to offer near as many. I'm hoping it's not because too many people took advantage.
I hope you find something fun at Momarte eventually. The trick is finding enough bargains to make up for the shipping, which is usually $25.
Thank you! Yes, I had a hard time deciding between the two retro palettes...the pretty palette and gold logo won me over. Thank you! I will be sharing a video with the Schmincke Aqua Bronze swatches in an upcoming video, so you will be able to see which one suites you best. I'll share my favorite then, when I can compare them next to each other. Thanks so much for the comment, I always love chatting with you! Blessings to you and your family, Nancy! 💗

So good you found an alternative for Jacksons! I stopped ordering from them because they started cramming supplies in an envelope so it arrived damaged and that happened several times and I told them and sent them pictures but I got no response. It is about time they realize that you cannot act that arrogant towards your customers. Thanks for showing your lovely haul!

Hi Stephanie ! Thank you for the swatching video. That Cochineal red is a stunner... a pity it is not lightfast! How does it compare to your other reds? I wonder if it is similar to Alizarin Crimson... Re Momarte: I am Italian and since discovering them I shop on Momarte all the time due to the convenient prices: they ship quickly and have new offers every month. Their customer service is also top notch: they truly go the extra mile... I am glad to hear they reach more international customers. Happy painting!

Hello! Thank you!! You're welcome. Yes, Cochineal Red is lovely but not as lightfast as modern pigments. I actually filmed a review of this palette, and painted the owl at the end of the video. I will share some similar reds in that video. I found it closest to Permanent Carmine, for the reds I have in my collection.

Various paint brands have them (including Maimeri 😊 ) or you can buy them empty from places like Whiskey painters or Bromleys art supplies in the UK. Most are made by an italian company called Fome. I’m in the UK and ordered the set of 3 Aqua Bronze pigments.. pale gold, silver & copper. There’s a hazardous warning on the label for the silver.. it’s highly flammable, recommends using in a well ventilated environment and not to empty waste down the drain as it’s toxic to aquatic life.. it’s got a very strong chemical smell.. gave me a head buzz and it’s kind of put me off using it 😕
That said, I do love the gold and copper.. to be extra sure it won’t rub off when dry, I dip my paintbrush into a bottle of W&N gum arabic and mix with the pigment and a little water.. they really don’t like too much water.
Love the swatches.. all beautiful colours ❤

Hi Martha! No, the price just adjusted at the current conversation rate. Yes-Jackson's does change automatically, as you shop in your currency now. When I started shopping at Jackson's in 2017 was similar to Momarte, and you would get a discount by the VAT being removed too. Since the Euro changes almost daily, we will just always have to check before ordering. I didn't have any charges after any of my orders, or fees popping up later for the conversion. But, you will need to make sure which ever payment form you use doesn't charge you for that. I used Paypal. I hope that helps!

Too bad even with websites in the USA have to take time to find the best deals. Oh, you are so welcome!! I do hope you love the Schmincke Slim palette! It has Schmincke's student grade range paints, but they are pretty nice for student grade. If you need a splurge for next month, Momarte has a stunning Schmincke wooden box for $50 that is a really nice product (with a nice selection of colors from the professional line and a nice brush).
Since you are new, please know it may be tempting for you to try all of the brands etc. I don't say it enough, but it is completely unnecessary!! I just find it so fun, as I discovered my love for art late in life. The best brand is completely personal preference, and you will waste time hunting for the best brand like I have more than painting. Lol. But, yes it takes a lot of time hunting for the best price too. That is why I share my hauls, to try to share the best prices and places I found them. I plan to review most of the products I purchase eventually! I sell loads of things I used to love, and use credit card rewards to splurge now. I highly recommend trying that, as it really helps. ;D

Why pay extra to buy a palette designed to be used plein air only to use it on a table? Makes sense only in UA-cam world.

Hi Phillip! It is definitely a splurge, not a need! I made a hobby of of selling things I no longer love, and using credit card rewards to discover which art supplies I love most. I do hope to plein air paint soon, but it probably won't be with anything fancy. Lol. But, this palette was $53 and I thought that it was worth it. ;D

@@TheGypsyChic1 oh no don't get me wrong girl. You buy all you want. I have many and they aren't going anywhere. Lol
But I use mine. I was just curious as to why you'd buy something for something you don't do? That's all. Just curious. Not judgment. I've seen ppl complain about plein air palettes not sitting flat on a table and it's always driven me nuts, how nuts it drives them. Because it was never meant to sit flat, ya know. But yeah, but all you want of whatever you want. No one has the right to say a damn thing about it. It's your life, not theirs. He'll if you want to buy it just to flush it down a toilet, that's your business.

@@phillipstroll7385 Thanks!! Oh, I use all my supplies too...or they get sold or donated. Unused supplies equals wasted money, to me. I've just had to learn over the years which supplies work for me, and I'm still learning so much. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I do like keeping them looking as nice as possible while still using them. I used this Schmincke palette just fine on a towel, to paint the owl painting I showed at the end of the video. I was just trying to show people so they could see it doesn't quite sit flat. People work really hard for their money, and I would rather be honest and let people know what they are getting. Lol, people say a lot of stuff! I know I have shared a lot of hauls, and I truly meant to share where I found such good deals...but I think if they haven't watched my videos they wouldn't understand that. I grew up not having anything but a few crayons...so I never discovered my love for art until late in life. Haha, I will probably have to make some homemade not pretty thing to plein air paint because I can't find anything that seems to work for me yet or it is too expensive. Yes, I guess everyone is different and we all like different things. I'm glad you are living your best art life, and I'm glad you have lots of art products to enjoy! 💗
