I realized I wasn't as good as I would hope with it, besides...it got kinda loud u know? and tedious. I shouldn't say, but Antony was angry with me for some time. I need to chillout making tuts and then make a big comeback!
1000 thank yous for this. In my sloppiness I let an AE project get massive and bloated with comps and files, resulting in 2 min save times. Using this tutorial I separated comps into individual projects made it possible to work frustration-free. Great tutorial.
So grateful to have found this video. Ever since Ae allowed the import of other Ae project into files I have been struggling with folder structures and file efficiency. This solves it a lot of problems for me! Thank you!
Well basically it pretty much can be but it has so many own quirks and solutions that I can't really call it a photoshop for animation :D But yeah, it's a mutant that is for sure!
This has got to be one of the most helpful videos I've ever seen in my whole life. This really changed the way I use AE now. Thank you so much for sharing you saved me HOURS of work
Glad it helped! Thank you for this kind comment, I'm glad it is helpful. Remember, that you can also slim down your project by going to Dependencies > Reduce Project to get rid of unwanted content that isn't used.
Simple, straightforward explanation which will help my workflow immensely (and I can confirm this works for the very newest version of AfterEffects). Thank you very much!
Yeeeeesssssss!! You really helped me to save a looooooot of time, that I can spend now in listening your bass playing in RHCP.... hahahah.... Thank's a bunch man!
That is always fantastic to hear. You can simply drag & drop ae projects into other ae projects but this way it makes them much smaller and everything works faster!
thank you soo much!! 😫😫😫😫😫 i was struggling so bad trying to do this following other people's advices. this was straight to the point and easy to understand, so thank you again!💘bless you💗
Bit late to the party and thanks for video. Very helpful. I would add that the composition has to be selected in the project panel and not on the the time line to get the only this com option. I'm new at this and couldn't figure this out. Thanks again.
Thank you very much @giovannidigitalart! Appreciate you watching and commenting, that helps! :) Ur never late on my channel, welcome! You are right, I tought it's obviously but I should tell about it.
Haha I understand. Sometimes I have watched my own tutorials when working in AE, this software is such a big beast that you can forget things, especially little details with effects etc.
Haha yes exactly, it's a toggle since a few years actually. it looks great and is easy to use, i like the new system but at first i was also very surprised
Hello, I have a question, Do you see the probability comparison videos all over youtube? the Reigarw Comparisons to be specific. Someone told me that those videos were edited using the After Effects software. Can you have a tutorial for that please? I really want to learn how to do that as it can also help me and my new channel.
Hello, after you sent the link I understand what you mean by that video, its interesting but I have plenty of videos in the pipeline to create. I will note this down but I can't guarantee posting this anytime soon. Basically you would just make the elements with a grow animation and then build each scene and move them from left to right!
hellooooo i have question. In the past i have moved comps from a project to another one by simply copying and pasting and it has worked fine before. This videos was in my feed and opened out of curiosity and i see is a way more complex method for doing essencially the same thing, this makes me wonder. Why do this method and not just copy paste?
Haha I'm glad you figured it out :) You can technically copy paste or even drag an entire AE file inside another AE file, but sometimes you just want a few comps thats why collecting them seems the best option...and how Adobe designed it with moving comps between files in mind.
Is it possible to edit the animation settings after you import the composition? I want to import multiple composition effects into single footage project and edit them differently according to each footage scene.
If you copied (collected) over layers with keyframes animations and options on them then yes, if they were parented to other comps and layers which weren't imported then it most likely will cause a missmatch error. But basically yes, it should be possible.
@@andrewpach I have tried these methods but didn't fully work for me, In fact I have found another simple method after 8 hours of experiments. You can save your animations as presets then use them again anytime from the effects & presets library. 1. Open file > select solid > go to effect controls > select your effects > Animation >Save animation preset > set name > save. *It will be saved in your effects and presets library just like other effects, you can even delete that from library folders. 2. Open another file > select any solid > click effects and presets > type your preset name or search user presets > drag that effect onto your solid > you can still customize it further or do anything else you want with no error. I use this method in game development and some other tools, but not sure if it were also possible in this one. I hope it helps! Thanks for reply though, appreciate it mate.
I appreciate you taking time away from playing bass for the Red Hot Chili Peppers to make this video.
I realized I wasn't as good as I would hope with it, besides...it got kinda loud u know? and tedious. I shouldn't say, but Antony was angry with me for some time. I need to chillout making tuts and then make a big comeback!

Thank you so much. I started using After Effects with the mentality that it's Photoshop for video and animation
Well basically it pretty much can be but it has so many own quirks and solutions that I can't really call it a photoshop for animation :D But yeah, it's a mutant that is for sure!

Awesome to hear ! :)
I didn't know this was a feature! Does it also work for text as well as keeping the effects put on said text?
Yes, it should, since it will "take" the text over it should also take it's applied effects.
Thank you!! I just deleted my parent layer for 60 other layers. Sigh.. I'm sure this will help restore things.
I hope so! always to try to save your projects elsewhere as well so you have a reference point, it can be scarry to loose content over a few mistakes!
@@andrewpach Absolutely. I always save copies, but in the same place. Will rethink it. I had sucuss by the way.. again thank you!
