When I met Davey around 1994 he was very respectful to me. I told him if I was in his position I wouldn't be so nice. After shootin the shit back n forth for 20 minutes or so he invited me to the bus they shared with a band named Loose Change. He pulled out a copy of the Nervous Breakdown EP and told me when he heard I was gonna be there he made sure he brought it for me to sign it. Davey's mentality is the complete opposite of the way we were back in the 70s and 80s. A real class act.
I met him in a cafe in Orlando in 04. He was really nice and offered for me to sit and talk with him. I was nervous and made a fool of myself, but since then I have loved the music. I want to work on a documentary of AFI, obviously I wouldn’t be able to get them in it but it’d be a fun project that no one has done yet (as far as I know.)
one of the best shows i've ever been to was AFI, Fury 66, and Good Riddance at Gilman 924 in '98 or '99. first time i saw AFI was in '96. stoked that he dropped all the bay area GOATs( good riddance, fury 66, Swingin Utters, and rancid).
I almost commented that Fury 66 wasnt great, but then realized I was thinking of Screw 32....damn we are getting old. Loved those old shows, $3 and a can of food at the door to see the best bands. Not sure I saw AFI back then. I think I did but it doesnt feel like a reliable memory.
@@Ryattt81 oh....come on bro... Screw 32 was fuckin....SIIICK! their first 2 albums were too rad you reminded me and inspired me to pop in those fuckers in my CD player(haven't listened to them for over a year). who gives a fuck if we're old/getting old, we went to shit tons of shows from $3 upwards to $10! and they were loaded with other bands playing with them! we didn't have our stupid smartphones and social media to distract our asses..we had friends, shows, and chicks! 90s-00's FTW! I've been to so many shows too I can't remember em all, along with my old ass age(40s) hahah
Jade also went to UC Berkley. Haha...I remeber a few weeks ago I was watching Tv and they randomly metioned Berkely and I flipped out cuz I got excited and mom was confused!
whoa! you can see his actual arm in this! it's not yet covered in tattoos. oh they are funny. jade, you need to speak damnit. 'There's a horse!' love these guys.
I do miss the days of when AFI wasn't as well known as they are now. They would sit on the stage after their shows, and chat with their fans. It's too bad all the screaming 14 year old girls nowadays ruin the opportunity for them to continue that tradition.
I love the horse thing. And poor Jade, the first time my friend watched this she was on the phone with me and she's like "Jade's just scratching his ear through the whole thing" Poor dude.I love Davey's arms with no tattoos,, thats a good way to tell how long ago it was xD
Agreed. While I do enjoy STS, I think Black Sails and Art of Drowning were AFI at their best. Their newest garbage "Bodies" I can't even make it through a song, and I've tried again and again because some albums you won't like at first but after a few listens it will grow on you...but nope. Hard to believe how awesome they were and how far they fell. They need to stop trying so hard to appease the 14 year old girls that shop at hot topic and return to form. Burials would have been a really good final album, I enjoy it a lot...but the 2 studio albums after that, I'm not feeling at all.
punk.. i still call it punk now... but it aint punk, really. you cant give afi a genre. davey has done good in my life, plus... erm... please check my channel in bout 1 week. i plan to make a video of my signed poster of afi members apart from adam sighning it. just bear with...
Wow I filmed this 20 years ago at Sparks in Louisville KY I have no clue how it ended up online haha
Dude thats so awesome, thank you for filming this!

Loose change rocked. Chon Travis, Jade Puget, Levi, Jevon and Nick Jones now Nick 13. Fun times!
It's not every day you see legends commenting on UA-cam videos.

Davey in blue hair, omg so cute
I bought that same shirt when i was in High school and still have it! Never knew he had it too haha (bay area native here)
(8 years later) "Did you think the band would last that long?" 23 years after this interview, on the other hand...
Id like to know what the response was to the last question. Damn.
lol, I like Davey's hair a lot better now.
They're amazing :]
Intelligent, well spoken, they are what they are, i think ukrainian band 2nd river has common style- me personally want to see a film about afi,or other
Id love to see their nowadays reaction 2 this video,
At the Drive In.
He's so sweet
He went to UC Berkeley California, not Berkley School of Music in Boston. Different schools, same name. : )
It's Berklee College of Music

Is there a spider on Jade's head? 🕷️

Wow, this IS rare. Davey's right arm is blank.
Davey and Jade haven’t changed at all.
Daveys appearance obviously has, 🤣 but same chill dudes.
A Backstreet Boys, Nsync, LFO tour headlined by AFI. Let's go.
i'm sure he was joking bro.
@@brockman562 Even if he was, I actually enjoy the boy bands just as I enjoy rock music. So it wasn't sarcasm or anything
Whoa, I've never seen his arm w/out the tattoos before. Eerie...
I agree

Afi
Ahh back in the day when AFI would say they’re from Ukiah. Now they say “Oakland”
what happened to their music....wtf!
Okay but this is by no means “early AFI”. Early compared to crash love shit... but in the grand scheme of things this is middle era
І вітання(гітаристу цього гурту)Джейд,вітаємо
Yeah lol. He was just kinda scratching his whole head. Me too, Davey and Jade are awesome. I love their new look though, back then they were all punk.
Back when they were amazing ... sing the sorrow was when they sold their soul
Sts is amazing, it's probably their best album
The horse !
