      you said you changed the oil because you had overfilled it within the last 100 miles, did the oil filter that was on before only have 100 miles on it too?

    • @Egp94
      @Egp94 6 років тому

      im a year late but what i do when removing the filter is i cover my headers with aluminum foil so that i dont get any oil on them and makes it easier to not have to clean.

    Thanks for putting up the one and ONLY video I've seen on UA-cam that actually shows the removal of the front fairing. That thing is such a pain in the ass and I really thought I was going to break it but you showed me that grommet that was holding it in so now I know I can just pull it out. I have to replace mine from a low speed low side I had in 2016.

    Don't feel stupid. I got my first bike recently and a buddy has been teaching me everything. I get the "you can be serious" look once in a while but I am learning. Your buddy looks to be patient as well, that's someone you want to learn from. Later

    A tip, leave the oilfiller cap in and then first take off the drain bolt. It will drizzle out slowly instead of gushing out. Then remove the filler cap to make the oil come out faster.

      well said.
      I do this.
      the large breather on my engine makes oil still come out quick but its very good practice to follow your advice on all engines oil changes. 👍

  • @lold6130
    @lold6130 5 років тому +2

    It's a good idea to prime the new filter with oil (will get round engine quicker). Also you should use a filter-cap tool to enable you to torque the tightness accurately so you won't struggle to remove it next time. And leave the filler cap in to prevent oil gushing out so much, then remove it when most of the oil has drained. I also put a mark at 12 o'clock on both the filter and drain bolt so you can easily see if they are coming undone. Hope this helps!

    I have a '13 750, there is no need to remove the side fairing.
    Working on the left side of the bike, I take the cross brace push pin off the left side of the side fairing leaving the right one on. Remove the belly pan push pin.
    Remove the two lower fairing Allen bolts.
    Pull the side fairing away and unscrew the filter. Never had a issue of alot of oil on headers. A little gets on it but it burns of within 5 min of running.
    Love what you guys do Jaret, just want to make it less difficult for others.

    Kinda late to the video, but a tip to help save your exhaust from being covered in oil at 9:32 is to use some tin foil to cover your exhaust and any other components that may be in the splash zone.

    Nice video man. I would suggest next time using a k&n oil filter. It has a welded nut on the filter so it's easier to put on and take off with a wrench. And also to cover your pipes with aluminum foil when taking the oil filter off so oil doesn't drip all over them.

    great video! Christina, nice camerawork! focus and zooming on what we needed to see was great! nice outro and bloopers. haha. I didn't know synthetic oil can be switched to regular oil in an engine. And vice versa: the oil type can be switched as often as desired. I recently put in semi-synthetic on my 2014 GSXR 750. Great video, very informative, showed us exactly where everything is. Thanks for explaining the crush washer. Oil filter wrenches work great! Aluminum foil on the pipes save cleanup. Great job Dado!

    A small trick you can use is to get some foil. Run it as a "trough" to keep the oil off the headers and drain into to the pain. The only thing with it is to be slightly careful to not knock the foil out of place. Hopefully this helps!

  • @timjamesvella

    The bike actually had to be on the side stand when draining the oil otherwise not all the oil will drain out. Also just cover your exhaust in alloy foil, protects it from spilling oil.

  • @spoonman73
    @spoonman73 7 років тому +2

    Well done. I would also suggest filling up the oil filter first before putting it on. That is why you were still low after starting the bike. It helps to get oil to the engine faster. REALLY shocked at how much metal came out of that engine. It's very important to change the oil ALOT the first thousand miles or so.

    • @JaretCampisi
      @JaretCampisi  7 років тому

      yeah thats a great idea thanks! And yeah its definitely good to change the oil a few times in those first few thousand miles...crazy how much metal comes out.

      if this was a true tutorial & not a narcissistic man giving no credit to the real mechanic we could learn real facts.
      ie Change your oil often is the best. you dont need to change your filter often. It will have little to nothing in it but change at normal service intervals for piece of mind if you wish.
      All modern engine's have a separate filter circuit. they dont rely on it for the engines normal oil supply and pressure. JUST CHANG OIL, ITS EASY AND NO BODYWORK TO REMOVE thats why the drain plug is accessible with all bodywork on.

Question is, what would u recommend for the oil. Its never been done (Hence 655km, not sure what the is in miles eh! lol) Should i run it a bit more and do the FIRST oil change or warm it up and dump it right away? Bought the bike late fall, being in Canada, i never rode it at all cause of the wonderful snow! haha. Hope to hear back and will continue to support and follow! Ride safe man@

    Don't do what I did on my GSXR750. I dislodged the oil filter rubber sealing ring when I tightened it up. 2 miles down the road I opened it up going up a hill. I thought I'd lost the gearbox or clutch as it just revved to 14,000. It was my wheel spinning in the oil that was pouring out! Luckily I'm a riding genius (!) and held it on the bend that came up as I saw just a cloud of smoke in the mirrors. I then pushed the bike 2 miles home! Good workout though.

    3 Quarts is too much. After you go for a ride and recheck you will find the oil level will be way above the site glass. If you drain thoroughly, 2.7 litres is the correct volume of oil to put in. I have done this oil change numerous times on my L6 gsxr 750 which is the same motor as the 600cc.

      That's the million dollar question I can't find anywhere. I've had many gsxr and it's always the same. If we follow the manual and get it dead center that's one level. If I go for a hot summer day ride it's way over filled from heat and expansion. So what's right? Do what the manual says or go off hot oil readings. Over many years I've come to accept the manual and high readings. The Suzuki engineers know more than I. When I returned home from getting my brand new 2018 gsxr 1000r it was over filled. Completely cold I can see it at the high mark. I've always looked for confirmation on this without luch

      See if those shavings are magnetic. They look alloy, dosent look like cylinder wall. KEEP that oil filter and cut into it, see if there are other shavings. Use a rubber maid kitchen mat to grab that filter.ALSO Mr Jaret, I think engine oil expandes when heated, its advisable to just use recommended level, I ALWAYS go just above low level.
