    Few tips I learned while working on project for Suzuki:
    1. When you remove the fairing, always remove the clips/fasteners first. If you remove the screws first, the fairing is left hanging by the plastic and fragile fasteners which might snap.
    2. NEVER EVER use a power/pneumatic tool to unscrew the drain bolt! A long ratchet or breaker bar will do just find if it's too hard to unscrew.
    3. The brand of oil isn't really that important (As long as it's a well-known one), what's important is the specs, as long as the oil meets the manufacturer's specifications, you're good to go. And to let you on a little secret, Suzuki isn't really a petrochemicals company, so the Suzuki OEM Oil is outsourced, and is usually provided by more than one Petrochemicals Companies (Usually Amsoil, Maxima or Motul)
    4. You'll never be able to get all the old oil out, rock the bike sideways to get it moving and dripping (Granted you have warmed up the engine for 3 minutes before unscrewing the drain bolt!). For the same reason; It's also a good idea to get into the habit of changing oil little earlier than the recommended interval.
    Cheers my gixxer brothers and safe riding!

    Hey brother, Love the series! Question.. what kind of of stand do you use? Im looking at the Woodcraft Rear stand.. what do you suggest? Thanks!

    • @TalesFromTheGixxofficial
      @TalesFromTheGixxofficial  9 років тому +1

      Thanks man! Wood craft makes awesome products but I went with and choose pit bull stands. The reason for that choice is because they have been around forever and only make stands mainly. Their stands also are made in one complete welded piece where other stands are made of multiple pieces and tend to lose strength and stability (for example some of the cheaper stands on Amazon around 50 bucks). But that's just my opinion of course, like I said woodcraft makes great stuff and has been a name in the business forever.

    At how many miles do you suggest doin your first oil change? I just got a 2013 750 with 1000mi. The dealer said one was done on it at 800.

    • @TalesFromTheGixxofficial
      @TalesFromTheGixxofficial  9 років тому

      Tony maz According to the suzuki service manual you should do the first oil change and oil filter change at 600 miles. After that I think its every few thousand miles or so I believe. Id have to check to be sure. I just did the first oil change around 700 miles along with other first maintenance services which I'll be posting those video parts in the coming week or two.

    Does the manual say to fill it halfway between the tick marks? It says in my manual to put 2600ml which is around 2.7 quarts. When I measure out 2.7 quarts, with filter change, it puts the oil level right at the "F" tick mark. When my bike is on the side stand, the oil level is between the full and low tick marks. I don't think you are putting enough oil in there. The oil level should be between those tick marks only if the bike is on the side stand. If the bike is straight up, you fill it to the full mark. Measuring out your oil is always the best route to go in my opinion. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just letting you know what I've read and have been doing. I guess if your way has been working then keep on keeping on. Great how to video though. Be safe.

    • @TalesFromTheGixxofficial
      @TalesFromTheGixxofficial  9 років тому

      Travis M. There are many methods to oil changes but looking at the service manual for this particular bike with oil and filter change it says it will take 2.6 quarts of oil. I agree that measuring it out is probably a good practice which I should have done but looking at the bottles I assumed it would be about 2 and a half or so quarts of oil which is how much I used in the end. The steps say to fill it with that amount, start it up and then let it sit for three min. After that the bike should be held vertically and the level should fall between the "L" and "F" tick marks. I probably should have mentioned the amount to be put in first but more or less if its between the marks when held vertically the manual says its good. Thanks for the tip and watching though man.

    • @bunnyhug4365
      @bunnyhug4365 9 років тому

      Cool, I was just wondering what your manual says because I have a GSXR, it's not brand new like yours and my manual says to fill it to the F tick mark. Seems like it would be easier to put a tick mark at the point where the level is supposed to be.
      Yeah, there are a lot of different methods that seem to be working just fine. I was mainly worried that I might have been over filling my oil so I checked my manual and I wanted to compare what mine says to what yours says.
      Thanks for the reply. Keep up the good work.

    • @zipper978
      @zipper978 6 років тому

      It should be in between the L and F if the bike is upright not while on side stand.

    Do you suggest any other brands of oil besides suzuki oil?

    • @TalesFromTheGixxofficial
      @TalesFromTheGixxofficial  9 років тому

      I choose Suzuki oil because it was cheaper and you only need three bottles to get the job done. I have used repsol racing oil in my other gsxr. I would say it's a good oil but expensive and its full synthetic. If you race or take your bike to the track then you could use that and a k and n oil filter instead. I'm picky about changing oil types before breaking in the bike or before 1000 miles. Motul is also a good oil.

      +Aditya Mukti Why waste money doing that when its easier to do the same stuff yourself. Its about saving money and learning. The dealership here over charges for everything.

    • @AdityaMukti4625

      but if there's something wrong with the bike, you can't claimed the guarantee from dealership, right? it's because you take care the bike yourself. Anyway, thumbs up for your video man.

      I'm here trying to figure out how to remove the panel because I took mine to the dealership for 600 mile change and they put the wrong oil in it (10w-30, not 10w-40 per the manual). It's a SUZUKI dealership and they filled my machine with bulk oil from a drum, and the wrong weight. As I was doing the job, I found the mech had ripped the hose clip holder off of the inside of the fairing instead of undoing the clip. You can take yours to the dealership, I normally don't and, after this experience, won't ever again.
