This is a great song, as was Love Cascade and Cash Flow. How come Leisure Process never get mentioned in the same way as Human League and ABC? Classic 80s band, long overdue for a revival.

Because they were only together for 18 months, and didn't manage to have a chart hit. But they certainly deserved to be big in my opinion.

@@ajs41 Such a shame. At least this song deserved to be a hit. I was playing in a band at the time and the DJ of the club played this during our breaks. That was my "holy shit what is this" experience with slap bass. I still have the 12 inch.

Either score a major hit, or be the ultimate cult band - VU class, Pavement, like that. Fad Gadget, perhaps, in those days, and still remembered widely

He had a habit for disappearing and killed off any chance of Leisure Process making it. Case in point being the appearance of Razmatazz that the record label had lined up for them but had to be cancelled since Ross had disappeared. This soured the label to them and the end wasn't long in coming.

I can give you some background on that. We were fellow mental patients in a clinic in Bristol 1985/6. He'd had a series of breakdowns even back when Leisure Process were up and coming. Later on when we got to know each other he confided that he wished he'd asked for help but didn't have any real friends he could turn to. He was a very likeable guy and very kind with the other patients, but he had zero interest in talking about his band days. But here's the thing, I bumped into him years later in Brighton - 1996? - and not only did he seem healthy and happy but he was making music again. He had a solo sort of dubsteppy techno thing called Dugout, really good. He came round to mine with a test pressing of a song called Kamakura, v Japanese drum n bass, with a really nice trance piece called Temple Bells on the other side. We'd meet up for a pint from time to time. He was in advertising or something to earn a living, but he was really back into music. Then I moved to London and next thing he'd moved to Paris. I think there was some talk about recording with Gary Barnacle again, don't know if that happened. Personally I think Leisure Process could have been massive, shame about his personal problems. But the stuff's all up here on UA-cam, sounds great, maybe there'll be a revival. I love Cash Flow and Love Cascade. Got to ask - what was Razzmattazz?

    LYRICS
Baby's got a brand new toy, she's cracking out the eggshell, boy
Let's not talk of love, I'd say you never liked me anyway
Possibility of change, I contact men on midnight trains
    [chorus]
    Just contemplate that beauty
She sees through you and me
She looks so cold and splendid
    A way you’ll never be
Should I tell you my desire, then cast myself into the fire
    (I think I'm burning)
(Oh) I would give you everything if you would give me words to sing
    [rap]
The world may move and couples stare, but I am the one who waits
I'm the black car parked across the road, the spectre at the gate
I’ve been in you, wrote over me, a message from a big country
Someone young just gave to me the youth of synchronicity
[I was impressed when you got undressed] - (lyrics in the longer version of the song)

Sometimes I wondered. Why Level 42 never arranged & performed this one in their live (Because Mark King played bass in this one, And Gary Barnacle often playing with him) sure the sound may different, but will gave an exciting experience to music listeners than let it disappeared and fade away as time goes by (And Ross still disappeared from music scene, Sad because he's very unique singer)
