I visited Paris recently and I couldn't get the chorus out of my head. It's a very catchy tune :-) Also, it's suprising that this only reached #42 in the UK charts. It deserved much better than that and should have been re-released. Cheers
amazing! only searched this for a "challenge" - never thought it would be on here. Excellent song and fond memories of York as a nineteen year old going round town on a saturday night
LEGENDARY SONGS im 15 and i can tell you this music is a hell of a lot better than the RUBBISH we get now thank you John Moore, Mark James and Eric James i wish you were still performing ( I got to meet John Moore!!!!!!!)
What a great slice of 80's pop - I dare you to get that chorus out of your head for at least three days. There's an album version that's got an extended middle section.
Blimey, this takes me back. I remember seeing them in York at the INL Club in 83ish. Got the signed 12 inch versions of Paris, Don't Stop and Passion In Dark Rooms somewhere. Now I need to dig them out!
I bought this at the time, and still have all their vinyl including the very first 'Is there a reason' which is really worth checking out! Wish they had all been big hits - because they had the tunes and the looks.
GREAT tune! I heard this song played a few times at the dance club "The Ritz" (in NYC) and also at "Paris, NY" (Huntington, Long Island) back in their heyday in the 80's. I remembered the chorus but could never figure out who played this - Thanks for posting!
Wow never thought this would be on here....along with Don't Stop aswell,i'm in 80's heaven....Thanks wintermelody for the info on the greatist Hits CD....Good Times....
I was going thruogh my old Smash Hits magazines and saw a quarter page ad for the single "Paris is one day away" by The Mood... thought I would check it out. Eh.
Takes me back to my high school days. Heard it on the university radio program in '83 and had actually recorded it but had never seen the video before, until now. Thanks for posting!!!
love the mood an excellent band from the glorious 80's and if you r ever in london check out electric dreams, a club that runs out of the purple turtle, 80's electo heaven
I love this song. I have the original EP from 83 on vinyl. I would love a CD version of this to put on my IPOD. another obscrure great band from the 80's.
Haha bribe him brilliant. They were a great band though, this song is pure quality, great chorus great drums. In its era it should have been a big hit. by the way the girls loved your dad, they wore sharp suits and looked good. Is There a Reason another great tune. ive still actually got a tape of the demo album they did on a C60 tape some where. Hope your dad and and the rest of the lads are doing well.
There is a newly remastered HD version available on a new official UA-cam channel for The Mood ua-cam.com/video/zSUJOVBkY0M/v-deo.htmlsi=W08ZqGiDo00I5z98
They were due to be on top of the pops as a bubbling under the top 40 act, I think it was at number 45 at the time, on the day it was due to be aired Prince Charles announced his engagement to Lady Diana and TOTP was cancelled that night as the BBC did a two hr covrage of the event. The week after the song dropped down the charts and disappeared. Had they been on it would have hit the top ten the week after, they were so unlucky.
torture but interesting in terms of what is normal in different eras. Noting obesity wasn't normal back then. I need to order a 1980s cookbook methinks
actually, if you listen to the lyrics, they sing that they "missed the flight tonight". And as someone who was 'bumped' from a flight to Paris, it really is one day
fair enough. I quite like the song. Think I met them once in Camden. One hit wonders really, if you consider no. 42 a 'hit'. I've moved on to more 80's stuff now. "obsession" by Animotion
I was around in the 80's and it's perfectly clear why these guys didn't really make it.. They're kinda Spandau-y and kinda Duran-y but not as good. Looks like they tried to jump on the bandwagon and fell off.
I remember Radio Caroline testing with this record in 1983 - sounded fabulous with those syndrums through their Optimod 9000 audio processing!
Went in school trip to Paris in 83 and remember this brilliant tune. Wish they were on Spotify. Great band.

The singer's voice is perfect for the 80s synthpop genre.
What a wonderfully catchy chorus! Brings back memories..

Great song, great band. Should have been huge. Memory recalls managed by Tony who owned Vibes in Bury.
Ignore all negative comments. It is coming from low brow lost inferior beings.

fun fact: my mum went out with the guitarist in this band

Brilliant song and I bought it when it came out, but it's from '82, guys, not '83. Sorry for being so pedantic. lol.
The English groups know how to do it
Paris is one day away. ( Needs updating now we have the Euro Star)
I can't understand, why this song is so underrated and why it never got into the Top-10 charts! Can someone explain this to me?
They were due to be on top of the pops as a bubbling under the top 40 act, I think it was at number 45 at the time, on the day it was due to be aired Prince Charles announced his engagement to Lady Diana and TOTP was cancelled that night as the BBC did a two hr covrage of the event. They remind me of Talk Talk.
I think they're really good.
Nobody would want to go to Paris these days.
