    I actually enjoyed Fable 3. No other RPG let’s you live out your fantasy to overthrow your brother and become the King. Yes it was a bit short and could of been more in depth with decision making, but I give it props for being different.

      I feel so sorry for poor 343i; sure they can be a mess, but it'd doom if they do and doom if they don't
      especially when they try to mimic doom.

    I really enjoyed holding someone's hand in Fable 3, but I really hope they bring something like the interactions from Fable 2 back. I hated only being able to interact with ONE person at a time. And also, in Fable 2 I loved training my dog a bunch of tricks so he could join in on my expressions! What's your favourite interaction system (is that even what it's called lol) from the fable games?

    I agree alot about the game being a failure if it loses its charm, its honestly my biggest worry. Im not too concerned about the quality of the game in terms of gameplay and story, but I am worried it will fail to capture the personality and magic of Fable.

    Great Video with a lot of great points.
    The Halo comment made me laugh because its true to a certain extent.
    I'm not too worried by it being on GamePass, I feel like we will still get the same game they are making whether or not it released on GamePass since its a single player game, the multiplayer elements are the only thing I could see microtransactions for, otherwise I think we will get full on DLCs / Expansions for the single player part.
    Only other thing I would worry about is whether or not this game is a "Games as a service" or a purely single player game with multiplayer elements like Fable 3.

  • @ulkem
    @ulkem 3 роки тому

    I like how GGG handles microtransactions in Path of Exile. Basically, %99 of the transactions are cosmetic and the %1 is quality of life stuff. For example, let's say we have fast travel system like Witcher 3 where you have to go to a spot for travel and you can only travel from specific spots; there could be an item that let's you travel from anywhere to anywhere that you can buy with "special" coins that you buy with real money. It can be scrolls so you have to buy like 10 at a time, it can be a magical scribe skill that let's you produce those scrolls or it could be an item like a bracelet that you can buy one time and keep using it. These coins maybe can also be earned by in game feats like challenges, treasure hunting, luck games or the most difficult boast for every quest. I dislike microtransactions as much as the next guy but wouldn't that be a good middle ground for both sides?

    im looking for a fable style version of a borderlands game. looting mechanics, fun writing, ridiculous world and.. well just every fable quirk (demon doors, magic, styles, dialogue etc). i just want to see a natural evolution of the fable franchise into a open world looting game as it was kind of trying to be that in a time when hardware limitations didnt allow it.

    The Sanctuary system is great.
    The only thing that would've made it better is, the hotkey's being available asap instead of after several hours, and instead of the road to rule, that level up pad should've been like the experience pad in Fable1.
    Also, the Sanctuary itself is Canon.
    It's a dimension within the guild seal, that every hero who uses one, may access.
    Just that we don't see it in the first 2 games.
    Honestly, I'd say it's Canon to all rpgs.
    It's an on the nose spoof of all rpgs with huge carry weights.

    One thing I'm nervous about is... us. Look at mass effect Andromeda, it wasn't the quality of ME2 but it was a solid B. But it was dog piling hating on it. So the fans hated themselves out of two games

    • @Merlinthehappypig

      I strongly disagree. The quality of andromeda was absolutely piss poor. The drop in quality was ironically astronomical. It deserved all the hate it got because it is not the kind of quality anyone should accept from a triple A publisher who is charging triple A quality price. Fund poor quality products and you get poor quality products.

    I do NOT want to have any character/companion or whatever they will be to stand there, or walk with me wherever I go and be telling me "Hey, we have to go here and see these people and do this and that and this other thing. Hurry up!"

    Yk I don't think instanced world's are *inherently* a bad thing what if they're big and hand crafted and numerous and the loading times are fast? Obviously true open world has a lot of benefits but I feel like if done right decrete instances *could* be ok I mean LOOK at pikmin it makes it work pretty well, an open world pikmin would be cool but if it's made to be instanced I think it could work.
    I would love to see a fully open fable though don't get me wrong, I just think instances are just flat out worse no matter what just my opinion
    Edit: maybe a witcher style split open world would be a good compromise

    wouldn't worry about the new Fable not being open-world. Playground is known for having taking the track based Forza Motorsport series to first class open-world. If you're still not convinced, here's a quote from a job listing "join the Fable team, working on our brand new open world action / RPG title".
    What I'm personally most scared about are microtranctions and playground not being able to keep up the charme of the series.
    Forza Horizon 4 (which launched in Game Pass) had the same amount of microtranctions as, if not a little less than, Horizon 3, but it still had a heck ton of microtranctions. Expansion packs (and even if you don't own them they are featured on loading screens and menu tabs), VIP (bonus perks), Car packs and pass and even smaller things such as a treasure map for 3$ that shows you all "collectibles" on the map that barely give you any perks whatsoever. With each Horizon I hoped they'd do less microtranctions, yet they sticked to it. For some reason, most people seem to be ok with that amount as I barely ever hearf anyone from the community complaining about it, so I guess they're doing decent after all at finding a good balance? My dream would be that all they offer is expansion packs, yet I wouldn't hold my horses for that.
    Also, the other thing is that Playground is under a huge pressure to deliver a great AAA RPG game that'll be one of the biggest Microsoft exclusives ever. They'll have to make it appealing to everyone and also likely be politically correct. I bet that there were many discussions about this in the development so far. They'll have to find a really fine balance and I'd be surprised if the game would actually share the same humor as the old games or even just be consistently legimately humorous. I'd also wish that they'd keep a bit of the darker undertone. The cinematic of the metaphorical surpressrd chicken in Fable 3 was great (and heartbreaking) and what really got me hooked with Fable. Since the expectations are so high and they have even more development pressure due to the pandemic, it might be that they're taking the safer route and focus on what they can do best, which is impressive open-world games. There's no doubt they'll make the game look and likely feel great to play, but if they can actually hit the sweetspot so that the game still emits charme it'd make it a masterpiece. Then again, they know what they're doing. Looking at some statements in interviews they're definitely aware of the responsibility of finding the right balance between new and old they have. Personally, I wouldn't want to take those decisions.
    I trust playground games a lot. Even though I didn't even play much of the older Fable games, I've been dreaming about a modern game like this for far too long. This could very well become one of my top favorite games. Can't wait :))

    Most of everything about Fable 3 was excellent. Except the brokeness due to several bugs in the game, files constantly corrupting & the crappy expressions menu. Seriously the Fable 2 expressions menu was the best of the 3 original games. I dissaproved of the unnecessary addition of Aurora. But that's another discussion. The Magical system, the weapons customizations & evolving, the variety of dog breeds available, the colorizing customizations, the demon doors & the NPC interactions all that was wonderful.
    The New Playground FABLE has the potential to give FABLE fanatics the Old Kingdom experience with origins Galore. All the characters all the villains & creatures, and more background details on the origins of every character From TLC/Anniversary to Fable 3 characters & storylines. Just no repeating that disaster of a Game: Fable Journey. Killing of Theresa is a grudge i still hold.Theresa & Reaver carried the whole series and was to Fable what Link & Zelda are to LOZ. And speaking of Reaver, i want that playable interactive origin story in a future FABLE. The origin of Shadow Court along with Reaver's betrayal of Oakvale after the Hero of Oakvale's chapter ended & before the Hero of Bowerlake/Bowerstone had their adventure. The birth & rise of The Hero Guild, The grand opening's of Temple of Avo & Temple of Skorm, the Playable storyline of Scarlet Robe, Briar Rose, Lady Gray (based off of a real person by the name of Lilly E. Gray, btw) and Also have the choices to choose which interactive playable stories will you assume? Want to Be Jack of Blades? Reaver Pre Shadow Court? Sythe? Guild Master? But considering things have to begin somewhere, lets assume the Roles of Archon & Nostro and William Black as well as Jack of Blades. Be those heroes. Play their origin stories. That's what i hope for with the New FABLE.

    i hope they capture the charm of fable and what it stood for, from the music tracks they used to the dark humor and the base rpg mechanics fable introduced to the industry. from how you can basically fuck, marry or kill any npc in the world or how npcs react to your player character in general depending on if you are good or evil. how your character can interact with every building in the world and buy it and rent it, or how you can break any door or picklock it and steal things from the houses.
    ageing how you start from a kid and you can become an old man ( peter even said your hero could die of old age if you stopped using the gift of youth and that you can take control of your children when they grow up but ofc it ended up being like the planting the acorn thing). also how the morality system morphed the appearance of our character, i hope they find more awesome ways for our character to morph depending on our actions and not just horns or holo. how your characters physic would change if you ate too much or too litlle and if you used heavy weapons you would become buff but if u used lighter weapons you were skinier.
    i hope they dont abandon all these features but double down on them and build on them. to me if playground games dont include all these features they are not making fable just a generic open world game. at least we know its gonna be fully open world since playground where the first ones to make a fully open world racing game so i think they wont disappoint there.

    This is your third video I watched, I watched your first one from the other day, got the impression you 'really just liked fable 3'. Then watched your earlier discussion on the trailer and I realized my super long novel critiquing Fable 2/3 wasn't entirely needed because you, like the bulk majority of fans, do not really care for those stories lol.
    As far as this video goes, I'm pausing right at the Halo part because that inspired me to comment.
    This is a little ranty section about the "Halo Community" -
    Halo is a series that's treasured to my heart, much like Zelda, The Mana Series (Seiken Densetsu) and even Fable. Unfortunately, the issue with "Halo" isn't that fans don't accept change, it's that there is a VERY vocal minority who just deliberately hates "343 Industries" and has for the latter half of 10 years, and tries their hardest to "shut them down". Pretty much their the people who put Halo 3 on a pedestal without acknowledging it's many, many faults and the inherent nature of it not being "fun" in a modern era. The argument goes that since it was Bungie's last mainline Halo Game (even though it wasn't, that was Reach), that surely it's just "better" than anything 343i did. Arguably one could state that 343 didn't help (clearly Halo 4 was horrible, MCC was bug ridden in 2014, and Halo 5 was a fall-cry from what would be considered 'Halo' upon launch), but the "nostalgia kick" is less-so about making the game exactly "like Halo 3" and more-so picking at anything innovate 343 Industries does that manipulates the ever-so-bland and outdated concept of the game that existed. I'd put on the table that if 343i re-released Halo 3 with updated graphics, it'll gain popular attention for the campaign (much like Reach) and dwindle down FAST for multiplayer. I'd give it 1-2 weeks of decent player count, and it to drop off from there. The reason truthfully is going to be the that 343i, although skilled at their position, wouldn't have manipulated the game "good enough" to be considered a "fresh new experience". This is why Halo Infinite is not like Halo 3 but takes the art style from it. If they were to re-release the 'same game', despite games like Counterstrike, Halo is a very bland game at it's core that multiple games utilized and did "better". Without any form of change, and any 'new' ideas, the games become bland and the user-base, the non-"I love halo more than my wife" userbase that is, look at it and feel that it's too "boring". And the multiple cites of this state the same: "Too slow, too boring, same thing as before, aim assist, too hard, too frustrating, too toxic;" This list can go on forever. Truthfully, 343i needs to build a 'new' game that is Halo. That's what Infinite is. To me, that's how I feel Fable is, but taken to more liberties than what 343i is given. I feel that Halo Infinite is going to be (and I sorta know a few things here lol) a refresh of what classic Halo is mixed with modern Halo themes. The game is targeted against current FPS titles, like CSGO, Valorant and what-not. So to be fair, they are going to be changing up A LOT of what 'it feels like' to play Halo just to put a coat of paint on it.
    Back to your video.
    Video ideas for Fable, maybe one of these will spark some ideas for ya:
    - Armor/weapons you'd like to see returned in different ways
    - Discussion around if guns should be included in the series
    - Discussion around types of magic used and the two systems, which one would be 'better' to add
    - Linear story vs open-world story, which would you rather prefer in the next title?
    - Progression in the character (leveling up) ages the character in Fable, yay or nay on this returning?
    - Armor vs clothing...or both?
    - Types of enemies you'd like to see return verses not return?
    - Any side-quests you'd like to see retold on 'newer, updated' hardware?

    • @itsJoshWashington
      @itsJoshWashington 3 роки тому

      As far as a few other points:
      It's important here to recognize that Lionhead Studios failed to deliver on all of the Fable titles, and each one was over-promised and severely under-delivered, to the point where we critique 'only' Fable 3, whereas Fable 3 just took multiple queues from Fable 2, but with a less open world. I'd prefer a new developer to take over the series, as it will take the original concept of the game (Project Ego) and warp the idea into a Fable experience, rather than bridge the gap between 'fable 1 and fable 3' -- Or what 343i had been doing since they received Halo (spoiler; Halo 3 created 'advanced' things in the title, and Halo Reach expanded upon it. Halo 4 cloned CoD but did so in a Reach manner, and Halo 5 took this concept 'back to routes' but kept the same 'Halo Reach' aspects, like abilities and advanced movement. Halo Infinite, by contrast, is taking the bridged gap started at Halo 3 instead of Halo Reach with equipment, instead of innovating off Halo CE or Halo 2, for example. Sorry, digression!)
      Anyway, Lionhead not having Fable is a blessing that no one acknowledges. They killed the series and buried it by Fable 2, and then lit it on fire with Fable 3, had a party on it with The Journey, and lit the people having a party on it on fire in Fable Legends. Playground has a more versatile toolkit to work with, especially with their knowledge in development and building their engine engines -- it'll allow their internal team, aside from the ones hired to work on the physical game and story, to actually expand upon the Project Ego concept that was announced 2 decades ago, and to expand upon the games concepts that were considered 'good/fun'. Each Fable had it's own 'niche' of fun things.
      Continuing on with the next part.
      Microsoft. Yeah, so before 2014, before Spenser (Sp? Idk, I'm not a console fanboy, I'm a PC gamer primarily aside from a few titles lol) came a big thing, Microsoft's studios never "got big money" for their games. Basically it was around the 2014 - 2016 period where Microsoft changed their approach to the Xbox brand and relabeled their brand as a "service" rather than a product. Once they did this, the budgets for each individual studio expanded to 'unlimited'. Clearly, they laid out a budget, but for games like Halo and Gears, it allowed them to throw competitions worth of excess of millions per year, which before wouldn't have existed, at least funded directly by Microsoft. Additionally, plenty of studios, including Playground & Turn10, have the same principle budget; Finite. "Whatever it costs" is generally the topics in a company that has plenty of money that want a good product, regardless the expense. This, I'd expect to be seen also in this upcoming game.
      As far as Fable Legends, I'm pretty sure they also had a finite limit of money...which is why they turned the game into a money scheme -- You basically played a micro-transaction hero-slayer game instead of an RPG. Because Lionhead is incompetent lol.
      I don't think they will be constrained to budget in this title. Plus remember Fable is only 'now a thing' because the massive success of Sony and Nintendo in the landscape of Adventure RPGs. Microsoft wanted the same success in the field, and it's "not like they didn't have one".
      Microtransactions. The "word everyone fears" but really no one acknowledges that in Fable 2 and Fable 3, you also had microtransactions lol (and that was over a decade ago now). Microtransactions have been in most game series longer than the game series existed. That being said, I don't particularly FAVOR ones that give a pure advantage to those who 'pay to play', but I do believe that if you 'want to pay for that stupid little thing you don't feel like doing for 48 hours straight and it has nothing but cosmetic effect', you should be able to. I personally think general Micro Transactions need to be in most games. As a 32 year old, I don't want to spend 8 hours of my day grinding a game just to get a pimp hat (joking lol). I'd love to just say "Sure, it's $1.99, I'll take that" and buy it if needed. So I think it's fine as long as it isn't going to interferer with the entire game. I don't believe "everything" should be, and I do believe that "IF you can buy it, then YOU CAN get it for free as well" in this sort of game, but I also believe that withholding the ability to just 'buy it' loses a player quick today. Reason: If they don't like the 'thing' they currently have want 'want this other thing but it'll take forever to get it', they'll consider it another time when they have 'more time' to play it. Which, ironically, ends up being never...because their time is budgeted to play a 'different' game'.

    Halo fans probably shit on 343 because they’re the most incompetent developers in the triple A industry.
    I’m sure open world would work for Fable, I’d just be concerned. A lot of the open world games now that are trying to model themselves after the Witcher 3 are really sub par at it and are boring. A lot of content is being pushed aside for the meme that open world is. In the end, I’d rather have small, leveled areas with things to do then an open world with nothing to do.

    Let's hope it's not a Cyberpunk 2077 situation. That game made Peter Molyneux look lazy and unambitious while remaining 100% honest. Though I do just think Fable was a passion project he got overexcited when talking about and made promises that were more concepts that could never be.

      @Coreisus 3 роки тому

      The fact it's his passion project is why I'm worried about 4 being made by someone else.
      Even though I wouldn't trust Molyneux to make a AAA game.

    Because halo changed in many ways that no one liked.. Including the music.. Thats what the issue was.. They had a chance to do it with 5 but messed it all up.. All of halo 5's marketing campaign was a lie.. Thats not the fault of the fans.. Plus the story took place after halo escalations the comic by brian reed.. And not halo 4. For anyone who knows what happened in escalations, knows that it took place after halo 4 and alot happened in that time frame.. One issue was was that they assumed everyone read the books, speaking of which, you needed to read 3 novels as well as the 24 comics just to understand halo 5's story for the non-lore crazed fans. Thats called bad writing, don't even get me started with the "DLC" maps which are half assed forge maps.. No wonder they were free, people would be irate if they had to pay for a map that was just flipped over and sand was added to it.. Thats pretty dumb and uncreative with a game like halo. The music wasn't downright horrible but it was mainly only techno and didn't sound like halo for the most part.. The only song from halo 4 that fans liked was "117" and i forgot the one in halo 5 that people liked but the only reason people liked 117 was because it could be seen as a theme of chief fighting against this new threat and winning, all it had was hype with a couple of horns that blowed the classic tune.. There's too much to talk about when it comes to halo.. Just look how often they changed there maps, speaking of which, are also broken due to rhe abilities you can use now.. No forget it, its too much to talk about all at once

    • @warriorshedge6772
      @warriorshedge6772 3 роки тому

      And to add, ya just like you said, "fable needs to be fable", just as halo needs to be halo.. But that wasn't what the fans got in any way at all

    It needs to stay singleplayer. Change isnt always good and thats what has killed alot of games.
    Sticking to the humor and look of cartoonyish style characters is what I have come to enjoy with Fable.
    And Open world isnt Fable, Larger areas and regions would be nice but this isnt elder scrolls or witcher.
    Fable 2 and Fable TLC are perfect examples of a Fable game, 3 was a bit iffy, they went with change and it wasnt so good.

    I'm a bit concerned about the lead writer. She is an American with a history of writing...not very charming nor amusing games. Yet she's the lead writer of a game gleaming with quirky, distinctive british humor and charm. You can't just throw a few jokes in a fantasy setting and call it Fable. It requires respect enough to see Fable for the completely unique animal it is

    This is a hill I'll die on. Fable 3 is the best fable, and one of the best games ever made in my opinion.
    I know it was an unpopular feature but personally I loved the decisions system and the fact that as a king I had real decisions that had real impacts on the world and how the NPCs would view me so I do hope they bring that back and refine it.
